[Bug 75654] Re: deleted songs listed again when using library watch

2012-11-17 Thread RaduStoica
Karim,

This is indeed another problem. Regarding avoiding missing entries,
you can delete them from inside Rhythmbox (right click-Move To Trash).

Rhythmbox settings are in ~/.local/share/rhythmbox . So I guess this
directory should be deleted when you completely remove the package. If
this does not happen, I'm not sure where the problem is - I assume it is
a packaging problem.

[Bug 1080025] [NEW] alacarte changes order of menu categories

2012-11-17 Thread SteveZalek
Public bug reported:

Thanks for updating alacarte - its good to be able to use it again.

System:
Xubuntu 12.10_x64

Alacarte:
  Installed: 3.5.5-0ubuntu1.1
  Candidate: 3.5.5-0ubuntu1.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.5.5-0ubuntu1.1 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.5.5-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://mirror.team-cymru.org/ubuntu/ quantal/universe amd64 Packages

Expected to happen:
The ability to edit the menu catergories and place them into a desired order.

What happened instead:
The Wine and Electronics categories 'jumped' to the top of Applications Menu
list after editing the menu with alacarte 3.5.5-0ubuntu1.1. Alacarte does not
show these two categories in its editor and there is no way to move them to a
new (original) position. However, the new category created ('Complex Systems')
was editable and can be moved where desired. It's as if alacarte doesn't 'see'
certain menu entries.

[Bug 1080041] [NEW] rhythmbox-metadata process constantly fills ALL of the memory, then drops to 1% until killed

2012-11-17 Thread Filip Lamparski
Public bug reported:

When first started, rhythmbox's rhythmbox-metadata process tends to grab
all available memory (up to 1.1 GB) for a few seconds, then releases
everything for a while. Then it slowly creeps up to 1.1 GB again. This
repeats indefinitely until I manually kill the offending process, at
which point it respawns, although no longer taking up more than 10 MB.

System:

[Bug 1079953] Re: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10

2012-11-17 Thread Lionel Le Folgoc
Keep only one issue per bug report, please. Otherwise it's too
complicated to track what's been fixed and what's still open. Thanks.

-- Ticking/unticking boxes in alacarte does not stick.
-- New menu items created with alacarte are not put in place.
-- Menu items deleted with alacarte remain in place.
-- Moving items from one menu folder to another with alacarte no longer works.

Already fixed in Bug #1069207 for raring, and currently available in
quantal-proposed for testing.

 (Note: exo-utils for xfce,which provides exo-desktop-item-edit, IS
fully installed but this does not resolve the above bugs.)

I patched alacarte in Ubuntu to call exo-desktop-item-edit when the
environment variable $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP is equal to XFCE. If you
installed Xubuntu and didn't change the session startup it should be
fine.

It seems better if the alacarte Applications Menu Editor in xubuntu would be
 replaced as standard
(or at least as an option through the (x)ubuntu repos) by LXMenuEditor
 (http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/).

Try menulibre instead, at least it's not in java. :P

[Bug 882255] Re: No administrative actions possible (password refused) after enabling passwordless login

2012-11-17 Thread ceg
** Description changed:

If I choose not to have a password for my operating account, every
operation fails if it needs root access. Reproducible even on a newly
  set up machine. See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1862543

  Release: 11.10
+
+ Cause: The password is cleared (which prevents authentification for
+ security reasons). However, the user only needs to be added to the
+ nopasswordlogin group, to enable passwordless login with gdm (and other
+ DMs that ship with a corresponding pam configuration).

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install Ubuntu 11.10 as normal. During installation, when you are asked to
choose a password, enter one, since the installation can not continue if you do
not do so.
  2. Boot the newly installed system and log in as usual.
  3. Choose System Settings from the launcher on the left and open User
Accounts.
  4. In the User Accounts window, click on Unlock at the top right of the
dialog. Enter your user password when prompted.
  5. Click on the four dots next to the Password label to change your
password.
  6. Select Log in without a password from the dropdown box. Close the window.
  7. Try to perform an action requiring administrative privileges. For example,
try running sudo apt-get update from a terminal.

  Expected behavior:
sudo should require the user's password and accept it, or proceed without
requiring any password altogether.

  Actual behavior:
sudo requires the user's password and does not accept it (since it is set to
an empty string in /etc/shadow).

  Further notes:
After disabling the password request at login, the /etc/shadow file related
to the test user account I created looked like this:
  test::15283:0:9:7:::
This shows that the password hash is made completely empty; that conflicts
with the policies listed in /etc/sudoers, which require a password to be given
in order to perform
  administrative actions.

  Workaround:
-If you can not perform administrative actions but can still login without a
password, open a terminal and type passwd. This command should prompt you for
a new password and change it without any problems.
-If you can not login, you can reset your password by booting into recovery
mode and changing it there. Follow the instructions at
http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword.

You may also choose to use a password for your account and to enable
autologin at the same time. This choice will enable you to benefit the
advantage of not entering a password at boot time with the security of
Ubuntu requiring your password when attempting to perform privileged
actions. Of course, this helps when you are the only desktop user or the
  primary one.

[Bug 882255] Re: No administrative actions possible (password refused) after enabling passwordless login

2012-11-17 Thread ceg
** Description changed:

If I choose not to have a password for my operating account, every
operation fails if it needs root access. Reproducible even on a newly
  set up machine. See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1862543

  Release: 11.10

- Cause: The password is cleared (which prevents authentification for
- security reasons). However, the user only needs to be added to the
- nopasswordlogin group, to enable passwordless login with gdm (and other
- DMs that ship with a corresponding pam configuration).
+ Cause: The password is cleared to be empty, and this prevents
+ authentification for many admin tasks for security reasons. However, the
+ user only needs to be added to the nopasswdlogin group, to enable
+ passwordless login with gdm (and any other DM that ships with a
+ corresponding auth sufficient pam_succeed_if.so user ingroup
+ nopasswdlogin configuration).
+
+ Fix:
+ * lightdm to add pam rule
+ * account managing tools not clearing password but only adding user to
+nopasswdlogin group
+

After disabling the password request at login, the /etc/shadow file related
to the test user account I created looked like this:
  test::15283:0:9:7:::

[Bug 1080139] Re: xfdesktop crashes on bootup

2012-11-17 Thread Jim Gifford
Based on information comparing the dependencies of both programs. The
most likely cause of this issue is libglib2.0.

Other possible causes could be exo-utils libatk1.0-0 libc6 libcairo2
libdbus-1-3 libdbus-glib-1-2 libexo-1-0
libgarcon-1-0 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 libgtk2.0-0 libpango1.0-0 libwnck22 libx11-6
libxext6 libxfce4ui-1-0
libxfce4util4 libxfconf-0-2

Still going through the data.

Consider marking this as invalid since I am using WindowMaker and those
are settings for the GNOME/Unity environment.

[Bug 1028115] Re: Gdk.cairo_region_create_from_surface() raises an error in GI

2012-11-17 Thread fossfreedom
We have a rhythmbox plugin that requires these patches.

We can confirm they work great on 12.04 12.10

i.e. patches for the following packages:

python-cairo, python3-cairo, python-gi, python-gi-cairo

The patches for both precise and github can be found on Github.

https://github.com/andrenam/desktop-art/downloads

Seems to me - these patches fix something that never worked - as such
there should not be any regression potential here.

Any chance including these patches in an official update or backport?

thanks.

[Bug 874120] Re: Online accounts credentials keep expiring when reading email in Evolution

2012-11-17 Thread Donato Roque
Hi I also encounter the same error message and problem as reported here.
Not sure what package is affected in Archlinux. goa shows credential
expired, login message permanently with Google. It doesn't affect the
other accounts e.g. Windows, Facebook.

Plus even as goa shows such an error message, I can use empathy with
Google and Calendar with Google calendar. So it seems Evolution can't
connect to server without clearing goa.
