[Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open
@Kai, You're right. We have found that both behaviors, the one you describe and the main related to this bug, have the same root: policykit I haven't tried the patch commented by James (comment #33), but it's maybe the solution you're searching for. Anyway, if you want to do it by hand, the workaround that I have published at comment #14 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /unity-greeter/+bug/861171/comments/14) work fine and solves both behaviors! [Bug 861171] Re: Shutdown from greeter does nothing when multiple accounts open
Thank you so much to all the people that moved this bug the last week !!! But I think that most of you are moving in a different direction, and all of the examples in the comments could been solved by the expected behavior commented in post #20 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity- greeter/+bug/861171/comments/20): --- Comment #20 a. Normal user + other users logged: You just can't turn off the computer because there are more users logged. Please talk to an admin. [ok] (Do nothing) b. Admin user + other users logged: There are more users logged in the system. Are you sure? [Yes/No] (Close one by one all logged accounts and shutdown) c. With only 1 user logged (normal or admin) don't ask and shutdown. (Close the session and shutdown) --- Comment #20 end This solution prevent from abnormal session close, hardware shutdown, the actual 'only 1 normal-user logged can't shutdown', normal-user shutdown with multiple active sessions and other situations. Then there was other improvements to this idea, in the following comments. [Bug 1085398] [NEW] users-admin Advanced Settings window is too tall
Public bug reported: I'm testing Lubuntu 12.10 in a VirtualBox VM. The Desktop size is 1024x768 pixels. Run users-admin (System Tools - Users and Groups). The Users Settings window opens. Click Advanced Settings to open the Changed Advanced User Settings window. It is too tall to fit on the screen and the Cancel and OK buttons are off the bottom edge. The window doesn't need to be that tall (there's just empty space between the content and Cancel/OK buttons) and it's impossible for the user to reduce its height. [Bug 998855] Re: Backspace acts as Up and not as back
On FF backspace goes back. BTW why Thunar works like that also? Couse thats what people expect it to be couse it has been like that for long time. FF wont make backspace to work as up folder Thats about linux. We can check also other platform where is most users who would like to start using in simply understandable way. And that way is also in all Windows Web browsers and in Windows Nautilus/Thunar - My Computer/File Explorer. Backspace is been default for going back for most computer users witch are using computer for doing something easy and fast and not for learning computer and for programms that they dont use some different shortcuts. Global commands are the same. Where is only few ppl using programm with different shortcuts they cant make other ppl to start doing everything different way but just their own programm. Heres how many have backspace to go back programms - http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp and heres how many use backspace for back http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp and you cant find more ppl then thouse who wants backspace to be back couse even Linux users want it to be back. Most times you already came from down folder so backspace will make back as u think alt+up is doing. And sometimes u can use shortcuts and then using alt+left is more then usually needed. Ussual need needs one key and ussual needs are back from where u came from. So if now for back is needed some 2key combo its waste of time for forwarding and going around and waste of time for finding out about it and waste for thouse who found and use this new way couse allways need to waste 2keypress time. Re: [Bug 998855] Re: Backspace acts as Up and not as back
That can be changed couse users mostly are using commonly used shortcuts and expecting them to work like that therefore they can use intuitively any system. Theres not many who dont need easy usable one click shortcuts. And they who dont need it can change to what they need separately and inst needed global change for most users to adapt to few users. Many years strange and wrong things happen. Thats not an argument. Also without argument Now many bad decisions things to Ubuntu happening also without need of most users for Unity. Same way backspace isnt used intuitively in Firefox and Nautilus as most users need. Most clicks for non-text backspace clicking is for getting back and not up. [Bug 998855] Re: Backspace acts as Up and not as back
Sorry, it's a bad idea to have Backspace mean two widely different things. That's a good way to accidentally lose data. [Bug 1085552] [NEW] sound output connector reverts to headphones on boot
Public bug reported: On each boot, System Settings-Sound-(Output Tab)-Connector comes up as Headphones. Sound does not work until changed to Speakers. Setting holds through suspend but not a reboot. On each cold boot, setting reverts to Headphones. I expect a setting of Speakers to hold through a reboot, so my system will have working sound on boot-up. $ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Upgraded from 11.10. $ apt-cache policy gnome-settings-daemon gnome-settings-daemon: Installed: 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.5 Candidate: 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.5 Version table: *** 3.4.2-0ubuntu0.5 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.4.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085552 Title: sound output connector reverts to headphones on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1085552/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1062068] Re: evolution-calendar-factory crashed with SIGFPE in g_hash_table_lookup_node()
The bug happens almost every time I boot my computer, and this has been happing for months despite multiple re-installations of Ubuntu 12.10. Each time I reinstall, I still maintain my previous /home directory (which is on a separate partition). Could it be that I have a configuration file that is cause this bug to persist into new installations? I don't notice any issues from this crash, but the crash report pops up and tells me that evolution-calendar-factory has crashed again. Also, since I've sent the info of this crash numerous times, I now select the ignore in the future option, but it has no effect. I always get prompted that the crash has happened again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1062068 Title: evolution-calendar-factory crashed with SIGFPE in g_hash_table_lookup_node() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/1062068/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
