[Bug 1098143] [NEW] Network proxy settings do not respect proxy protocol

2013-01-10 Thread Marcos David
Public bug reported:

Package: gnome-control-center Version:  1:3.4.2-0ubuntu19
Ubuntu Version: 12.10

When configuring a proxy server there is no option to set the correct
protocol to use.

I have an HTTP only proxy but if i use http://IPAddress for all values
of the proxy (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP,SOCKS) the resulting systems vars are:

ftp_proxy=ftp://IPAddress:3128/;
http_proxy=http://IPAddress:3128/;
https_proxy=https://IPAddress:3128/;
socks_proxy=socks://IPAddress:3128/

which makes ftp browsing to stop working since my proxy only accepts HTTP
protocol

the expect values are:

ftp_proxy=http://IPAddress:3128/;
http_proxy=http://IPAddress:3128/;
https_proxy=http://IPAddress:3128/;
socks_proxy=http://IPAddress:3128/;

[Bug 1038573] Re: Unreadable messages displayed during Lucid - Precise upgrade

2013-01-10 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
What this needs is basically a workaround to keep the non-multiarch path
for pango available through the installation, although it's definitely
not needed at any point after the system is upgraded and rebooted.

Perhaps just providing that symlink which we can remove in later
upgrades of pango1.0.

[Bug 733866] Re: Battery indicator shows that laptop battery is fully charged when is not

2013-01-10 Thread a_cardoso
This happend on Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10, Mint 14 and Mint debian edition to
me. I'm on a samsung series 5.

When I'm charging my battery, if the charge hits 100%, the indicator got stuck
on 100% (never decreases again), until I shutdown. After rebooting he works
normally again.
If I stop the charge before hit 100% it works perfectly.

[Bug 827414] Re: gedit fails to start on first try, but does on the second

2013-01-10 Thread Dimitrios Piliouras
I've had the exact same problem since I upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10!
I've never had it before and I've been using Ubuntu since v4 with heavy
usage of gedit!!!...I can confirm all of this:

gedit 3.6.1
-open just fine when launched from Unity or the terminal
-opens the second time when double-clicking or hitting enter while having
selected the file (process appears on system monitor the first time I
double-click though!)

Very strange indeed...

[Bug 1098301] [NEW] brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in brasero_task_ctx_report_progress()

2013-01-10 Thread Edward Donovan
Public bug reported:

When Brasero crashed, the last message I had noticed was Finalizing
disc. The disc turned out to have been successfully burned, but maybe
that's evident if this function comes after burning is done.

LP suggested bug 864216 as a possible dupe -- not exactly the same
function so I filed this separately. I don't know enough to judge if
might end up being a dupe.

Thanks.

[Bug 1096485] [NEW] Gimp disappears after switching or opening another application

2013-01-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

As an example if I am in gimp and switch over to Google Chrome, and than try to
switch back again, Gimp disappears. If I than go to the application bar/task
bar and click on the icon for gimp (which has 3 arrows indicating there are 3
windows open) nothing happens. If I hold alt+tab I can see it in the menu and
when selected nothing happens.
When I right click on the taskbar icon and close the application and than
relaunch it, the GImp application appears as it should until I repeat the
process.
Opening any application over gimp will make gimp disappear, and never
reappear.. chrome was what I had open at the time as an example.

[Bug 1096485] Re: Gimp disappears after switching or opening another application

2013-01-10 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in gimp.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Thank you for your bug report. Unfortunately, the Ubuntu project does

the Ubuntu project can't do.

This request should instead be proposed on bugzilla.gnome.org, like

[Bug 963731] Re: System Settings - Not obvious which settings in Displays panel are display-specific

2013-01-10 Thread Justin Meyer
Currently, selecting System Settings - Displays on systems with
multiple monitors and the NVidia drivers produces an error dialog that
says RANDR extension is not present - as a result, at least one of my
users is unable even to access the sticky edge setting (they worked
around it via CCSM, but that's not a path to resolution that I'd want to
generally encourage).

Between this being NVidia specific and the addition of XRandR support to
304 drivers and later, I'm not filing a bug for that, but just as Chris
Schmidt suggested earlier, I first looked for the setting under
Appearance  Behavior.

I can understand the the reasoning for locating the options in one place
or another, but I do find it bothersome that an error related to the
display specifically should prevent access to other settings that aren't
actually dependent on a display-level feature.

[Bug 1098419] [NEW] Panel should be right-clickable when window is maximised with global menu enabled

2013-01-10 Thread Stéphane Guillou
Public bug reported:

Currently, it is possible to right click on the name bar of a windows to get
the drop-down menu allowing the following actions:
- Minimise
- Maximise
- Move
- Resize
- Always on top
- Always on visible workspace
- Only on this workspace
- Move to workspace x
- Move to workspace y
- Move to another workspace ...
- Close

However, when a window is maximised and the top bar is merged with the
panel, allowing the global menu, there is no way to access this menu,
except going back to windowed mode, thus adding an extra step to execute
an action like moving the window to another workspace.

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN:

The top panel's empty space should be right-clickable in order to be
able to access those options as easily as in windowed mode.

Another option, not as good as the first one, would be to add another
drop-down menu in the global menu, that would appear only when the
window is maximised. The advantage would be the ability to use those
actions with the HUD; however, adding a Window drop-down menu would
interfere with apps that already have one, like LibreOffice Writer for
example.

I am using Ubuntu 12.10 32 bits.
