I can also confirm this bug with a Logitech K810 Keyboard on Linux Mint 14 (i.e Ubuntu 12.10 derivative). [Bug 1098937] [NEW] Login screen pretends to be user, screwing up scripts
Public bug reported: When the computer is sitting at the login screen with noone logged in, scripts that run 'w' to find out how many human users are logged in get a report of '1' instead of '0' like they should. An example of a script that does this is the checklogi.sh script here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Using_ACPI_%26_MythTV_to_run_other_applications The checklogin.sh script is used to prevent MythTV from shutting down the system when it is idle if a human user is still logged into the computer. The fact that the GDM login screen pretends to be a user prevents shutting the system down when MythTV is idle and noone is logged in. I have hacked the script on my machine to make this work, but it is not generalized and I can think of several cases where it will fail on a different setup. The script was working on lightdm, but I had to switch to GDM due to a bug in lightdm that sometimes breaks xwindows. [Bug 831308] Re: Evolution crash when copy/move contact between address books
This problem is caused by the fact that a) there are definitions of eab_contact_display_get_type() in 3 libraries: - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/libecontacteditor.so.0 - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/modules/libevolution-module-addressbook.so - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/plugins/liborg-gnome-vcard-inline.so and b) the code is linked with -Bsymbolic-functions (which seems to be turned on in Ubuntu by default), which means that the both the first and the second definition are used (because calls to eab_contact_display_get_type() do not go through the PLT). eab_contact_display_get_type() tries to register the type EABContactDisplay which only succeeds the first time (for libevolution-module-addressbook.so). The second time (for libecontacteditor.so.0) the type registration fails which causes this error message: (evolution:20644): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `EABContactDisplay' (evolution:20644): e-utils-ERROR **: eab-contact-duplicate-detected.ui: Invalid type function on line 90: 'eab_contact_display_get_type' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) The solution probably is not to use -Bsymbolic-functions for linking evolution. #912081 and #996903 seem to be duplicates of this bug report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/831308 Title: Evolution crash when copy/move contact between address books To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/831308/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 923940] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS set max lcd brightness on every boot
I had the same issue. I use xbacklight to solve the issue. Add xbacklight to your startup applications with the desired brightness setting and problem worked around. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/923940 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS set max lcd brightness on every boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/923940/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
