[Bug 903422] Re: Ubuntu does not work with Samsung Galaxy phones ( Unable to open raw device 0)

2013-01-12 Thread Martin Pitt
For the record, support for a proper MTP backend just landed in upstream
gvfs. Once raring gets glib 2.35.x, we can package this.

** Package changed: libmtp (Ubuntu) = gvfs (Ubuntu)

Can confirm this, too, on Ubuntu 12.10. Copying works if I mount smb as
cifs, but using Nautilus it gets randomly stuck... (Only happend copying
large directories, in particular with many files, but maybe that just
raises the chance...)

[Bug 1035431] Re: bluetooh-wizard failed to connect to a keyboard

2013-01-12 Thread Magic Gandalf
I can also confirm this bug with a Logitech K810 Keyboard on Linux Mint
14 (i.e Ubuntu 12.10 derivative). For the moment I settled the issue by
blacklisting bluetooth modules btusb, btnep and rfcomm in /etc/modules.d
/blacklist-custom. This entirely disables bluetooth, however keeps the
HID stack from the Bluetooth Stick

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 0a5c:4502 Broadcom Corp. Keyboard (Boot Interface
Subclass)
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 0a5c:4503 Broadcom Corp. Mouse (Boot Interface Subclass)

alive. I learn't that this is insecure and thus certainly not my
favorite way of dealing with this issue. However, I can now use my
pricely keyboard without any issues, even in dual-boot mode to Windows.

[Bug 1051192] Re: online accounts have some issues with Turkish locale

2013-01-12 Thread Kerem Hadımlı
Although status is fix released, I'm still having the same problem
with Turkish locale on ubuntu 12.10

Nearly all accounts, including gmail and facebook say An error occured
while loading authentication page in system settings - online user
accounts

Changing user locale from system settings to English fixes it and allows
me to add accounts, but after the accounts are added, if I return back
to Turkish locale, empathy cannot connect and online user accounts
show the same error

[Bug 1098937] [NEW] Login screen pretends to be user, screwing up scripts

2013-01-12 Thread DAP
Public bug reported:

When the computer is sitting at the login screen with noone logged in,
scripts that run 'w' to find out how many human users are logged in get
a report of '1' instead of '0' like they should.

An example of a script that does this is the checklogi.sh script here:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Using_ACPI_%26_MythTV_to_run_other_applications

The checklogin.sh script is used to prevent MythTV from shutting down
the system when it is idle if a human user is still logged into the
computer.

The fact that the GDM login screen pretends to be a user prevents
shutting the system down when MythTV is idle and noone is logged in.

I have hacked the script on my machine to make this work, but it is not
generalized and I can think of several cases where it will fail on a
different setup.

The script was working on lightdm, but I had to switch to GDM due to a
bug in lightdm that sometimes breaks xwindows.

[Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

2013-01-12 Thread Chris
Confirmed for both 12.04 and 12.10, ASRock N68-VS3 FX motherboard,
NVidia chipset.

When you click Safely remove on the launcher icon and then wait for
buffers to be flushed, device remounts. The remount is done as a USB
1.x device as the speed is very slow on transfer (about 1MiB / minute).
In the log (attached) it appears to think that the device is plugged
into a slow speed hub.

[Bug 831308] Re: Evolution crash when copy/move contact between address books

2013-01-12 Thread Steffen Kieß
This problem is caused by the fact that
a) there are definitions of eab_contact_display_get_type() in 3 libraries:
   - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/libecontacteditor.so.0
   - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/modules/libevolution-module-addressbook.so
   - /usr/lib/evolution/3.2/plugins/liborg-gnome-vcard-inline.so and
b) the code is linked with -Bsymbolic-functions (which seems to be turned on in
Ubuntu by default), which means that the both the first and the second
definition are used (because calls to eab_contact_display_get_type() do not go
through the PLT).

eab_contact_display_get_type() tries to register the type
EABContactDisplay which only succeeds the first time (for
libevolution-module-addressbook.so). The second time (for
libecontacteditor.so.0) the type registration fails which causes this
error message:

(evolution:20644): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type
`EABContactDisplay'

(evolution:20644): e-utils-ERROR **: eab-contact-duplicate-detected.ui: Invalid
type function on line 90: 'eab_contact_display_get_type'
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

The solution probably is not to use -Bsymbolic-functions for linking evolution.

#912081 and #996903 seem to be duplicates of this bug report.

[Bug 760344] Re: gvfsd-http not closing tcp connections

2013-01-12 Thread Greg W.
gvfsd-http stays connected (ESTABLISHED) for long periods of time after
I've used VLC to play streaming Youtube videos. This is the case even
after I've closed VLC. Plus when lsof finally stops reporting the
connection as established it will start reporting it as CLOSE_WAIT.
And it stays as CLOSE_WAIT for a very long time.

[Bug 923940] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS set max lcd brightness on every boot

I had the same issue. I use xbacklight to solve the issue.

Add xbacklight to your startup applications with the desired brightness
setting and problem worked around.
