2013-02-02 Thread melchiaros
The upstream (692852 has been marked as dublicate)

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=679822

has been marked as fixed:

Cosimo Cecchi [nautilus developer] 2012-08-23 10:11:03 UTC

Pushed a fix for [...ALT+ ]to git master now.

--

If there is a broader need for the BACKSPACE feature the
configuration change mentioned upstream by

James 2013-01-31 02:34:19 UTC

Not sure if it's going to be a default, but you'll need to add this:

(gtk_accel_path Actions/ShellActions/Up BackSpace)

to ~/.config/nautilus/accels to get Backspace back.

HTH for someone reading here.

must be incorporated in the ubuntu package independend of the upstream
as far as I could see.

[Bug 1110580] Re: no gdm at start up. only tty (not really working either)

2013-02-02 Thread Willem Hobers
Just experienced the problem again. The boot after that went well. I
attach the syslog, so as to provide you with some fresh evidence.

I am a noob, so I do not know what I am looking for (or at) in this log.
I do see some things, however, which seem to be not right:

several messages like

I also noticed

(which suprises me because I use GDM, not lightdm...)

[Bug 1113364] [NEW] keyboard layout fails to be different for individual windows

2013-02-02 Thread Péter Prőhle
Public bug reported:

My case is a close variant of the following two bugs closely related to
each other:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/885730

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/622965

My usual setting in system settings ... / all settings / Keybord
layout is as follows:

allow different layout for individual windows (this allows me
to fluently work in different languages in parallel)

new windows use the default layout (this enables me to
concentrate on the new window instead of the last one)

Bug #885730 deterministically reproducable in my case: open firefox,
switch to hungarian but the indicator remains ENG. Then switch back to
ENG, and again to HUN, and starting from this second time not only the
keybord input, but also the indicator reflects correctly the HUN state.
This problem never happens working in terminal window. I do not use
non-ENG in other applications, only in terminal or in firefox.

Bug #885730 has now 4 substatuses: 2 fix release dated 2012-03-16, 1
invalid and 1 Won't Fix, this latter I hope is not true for the
current and future releases. My case is essentially different from this
bug: my case looks deterministic and restricted to the first switches.
After the third switch indicator shows the state correctly. However, in
normal work, there is never a second and third switch, hence this bug
causes essentially ALWAYS a missleading language indication.

Bug #622965 dated 2010-08-23 is even older, and my case is essentially
different again, that in contrary to the old deterministically
reproducable bug, right now, I can not reproduce the bug during this bug
submitting period. While this old bug affects me, whenever I work in
normal: usually I have a single terminal window, or rarely a single
firefox window, and when I want to open the other kind of window, then
the bug is there, but for later changes and new window, the bug is
usually not there.

The reason why I can not reproduce the bug during bug report is, that I
can not close the firefox dufing the preparation of the bug report. What
if the problem in my case is in the cooperation of firefox and the
graphical event handling frame system?

I use now 12.10 with all the possible updates, including proposals.

[Bug 1113420] [NEW] Alt+key window menu shortcuts cannot be disabled

2013-02-02 Thread Dražen Lučanin
Public bug reported:

I find the alt key ergonomically very useful (it can be pressed with a
thumb without moving any of the letter fingers) and I would like to
use it for many custom keyboard shortcuts (there is a reason why it
plays such a big role in Emacs and the whole OS X for that matter).

Currently, though, alt is hardcoded to activate window menu entries
(such as alt+F for the file menu, alt+E for the edit menu) and there
is no way to surpass this functionality in all the applications.
Personally, I find these shortcuts quite useless - they take you to
copy, paste, and open file which have standard shortcuts anyway
(with the exception of preferences, which for some reason don't have a
standardized shortcut even though that's often the only thing a person
looks for up there).

Expected behaviour
-

What I would like to see is a global option to disable these alt+key menu
shortcuts to free up the alt key for other uses (similar to the option
already available in gnome-terminal, only global). Preferably, activating this
option would also remove the first-letter underlining in the menu to indicate
to users that they can't acess it through shortcuts.

(I marked nautilus for apport to collect my version numbers, but this affects
most applications - didn't know what the right target is)

[Bug 256478] Re: Support contact grouping (metacontacts)

2013-02-02 Thread Timo Reimerdes
So it WAS there, and I'm NOT crazy. I have the exact same issue as
Rodolfo Gonella Diaza: I can't group the contacts anymore. Since some of
my best friends have up to seven different accounts linked to various of
my own accounts... well, basically the display isn't enough to tell who
is online and who isnt.

running current elementaryos beta1 (wich is based on ubuntu 12.04).

[Bug 1113648] [NEW] Add a context menu entry to create a new blank file

2013-02-02 Thread Javier P.L.
Public bug reported:

Release of Ubuntu: Raring, 13.04
Package Version: 3.6.3-0ubuntu5
Expected Results: Be able to create an empty file from the context menu
Actual Results: There's not possible till I create manually an empty file in
$HOME/Templates

There is no easy way to create 'new blank' files in Files, you can do it
by creating a file in $HOME/Templates/new or by installing an extension:

http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11/add-new-empty-file-entry-to-
nautilus-36.html

I don't think normal people will be interested in doing any of those
procedures, exist a Gnome bug about it:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=687139

But it's closed, so I'd like to see this fixed in Ubuntu at least, what
about providing some default files so people using Ubuntu can create
empty files since the first boot?

[Bug 1113649] [NEW] 'Extract here' right click option leaves out some files

2013-02-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I just extracted the android-ndk-r8d and android-ndk-r8b using the
'Extract here' option on my Linux Mint 14, cinnamon DE and it left out
from extracting a few things.

Only when I did a tar -jxf did everything get extracted.

A person using nautilus also has the same problem. So, I thought it was worth
adding a bug here. Sorry, if this is the wrong place.

[Bug 1108637] Re: backspace key no longer works in nautilus

2013-02-02 Thread Rocko
The upstream bug shows this as the commit that removes the default
backspace key action:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=2f1c80cc419b7e77972f63b448afe63d37994c74

so reversing this commit would fix this bug.

The upstream status is incorrect - it should be something like 'won't
fix'.

[Bug 979066] Re: Wayland support

2013-02-02 Thread Nerdopolis
This still exists in precise when using the latest GTK git, somehow
these paticular apps don't detect the existing Wayland backend, unless
they are started with gdb, strace, or ltrace.

AND interestingly enough, for example if I copy gnomine out of
/usr/games into /usr/bin, and start it directly with /usr/bin/gnomine,
it works with the Wayland backend, but if I run it as
/usr/games/gnomine, it fails to find the Wayland backend...
