[Bug 1131077] [NEW] Close button crashes brasero while writing to disc

2013-02-21 Thread eden6000
Public bug reported:

I think there is a sort of cosmetic issue with brasero and app
indicators...while burning a disc infact, an icon appears on the app
indicators, showing a circular disc with increasing progress of burning...as of
older versions of ubuntu, namely with gnome2 up to 10.04, if you clicked the
close button on brasero's burning window, nothing wrong happened, and burning
continued without problems, allowing to hide/unhide the window by selecting it
on the appindicator.
With unity this doesn't work nomore, so if you click on the close button, the
burning window disappears and brasero crashes...my suggestion is to either
remove the notification on the appindicator, or to remove the close button on
the burning window, since this behaviour can be confusing, especially with
newbies.

Release: ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS

[Bug 209109] Re: bemused plugin in totem-plugins not working

2013-02-21 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-02-21 Thread Steve W
Yup, Linux Mint 14 + Mate and playing back video files over Samba with VLC
causes VLC to hang, and cannot be killed. It then struggles to play any other
files.

I had no issues with the same setup in Linux Mint 13 + Mate. This is bad
enough for me to think about rolling back.

[Bug 1130956] Re: Update gnome-system-monitor to 3.7.90

2013-02-21 Thread Robert Roth
Regarding desktop team status and GNOME 3.7, I don't know the status
either, but as I did see a ticket for updating nautilus to 3.7.90 (LP:
#1130746), I thought I'd file one for system monitor too, and it's even
easier, and it does not depend on anything not available in the repos.

[Bug 1106110] Re: gnome-keyring changes tmp-folder during Gnome-session

2013-02-21 Thread sokai
Hi there!

This morning I had this problem again and I will explain the problem
more …

During my Gnome-session gnome-keyring dies (in the background) without any
error messages (/var/log/syslog, ~/.xsession-errors).
As you can see in the following command output, there are multiple
keyring-folders in /tmp.

# ps aux|grep keyr
$user 2337 0.0 0.0 51596 7428 ?Sl Feb20 0:00
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --foreground --components=secrets
$user18099 0.2 0.1 75620 14032 ?SLl 10:18 0:01
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --foreground --components=secrets
$user18926 0.0 0.0 5884 832 pts/1S+ 10:29 0:00 grep keyr

# ll /tmp/
drwx-- 2 $user $user 4,0K Feb 20 16:50 keyring-92x5pQ/
drwx-- 2 $user $user 4,0K Feb 20 13:18 keyring-B1KV8T/
drwx-- 2 $user $user 4,0K Feb 20 16:46 keyring-lIhMpd/
drwx-- 2 $user $user 4,0K Feb 21 10:18 keyring-ZciiCm/

It seems there are some similarities with Bug #383926 [0]. I think there
could be a temporarily workaround if I would know the equivalent for
„$SSH_AUTH_SOCK“.

[0] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
keyring/+bug/383926/comments/10

I can use the new keyring-folder in (i.e.) Chromium after a automatic re-auth.
(In Chromium the keyring-auth pops up and I can enter my password to get access
to the new keyring instance.)
In Thunderbird/Enigmail that doesn't work! There is no re-auth dialog after the
keyring-restart (in the background) and I only get a pop-up with the message,
that I used a wrong password for encryption (of my email). :-/

For me only a logout→login solves the problem (with Thunderbird/Enigmail). – Or
 a reboot …
I don't think that the silent deaths of gnome-keyring in the background are
‚normal‘, so I posted this bug-report.

Thanks a lot for taking attention and best regards!

[Bug 1130722] Re: Change nautilus menu layout in Unity back to the style of 3.4

2013-02-21 Thread John Lea
** Description changed:

In Nautilus 3.6, introduced in raring, the menu layout was changed from the
traditional all-entries-in-one-menubar to:
  * an application menu called Files in the Unity menu bar
  * a view menu has moved to some toolbar buttons and a dropdown under an arrow

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Mario Frasca
I'm sorry, but what are we talking about? that multi_key apostrophe c
used to produce the character ć (c with acute)?
to my understanding, this is how it should be, and if you need ç, you follow
multi_key comma c, as correctly remarked in comment:1 (not so sure why it
was ignored).

somehow the solution to the here reported bug seems to be the
current situation, as multi_key apostrophe c appears associated
with ç (c with cedilla), while ç can still also be produced with
multi_key comma c.

bug #919899 describes the current problem, that is, we can't easily
produce c with acute in any GTK program now.

currently there seems to be no other way to type ć than Ctrl-Shift-u
1 0 7 space.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Leandro
No, the problem is NOT having a keyboard layout for US keyboards in which
typing 'c gives ç.

Using multi-key for anything is not an option if you are a touch typist and the
letter you want
to type appears very frequently in your language.

The multi-key options are irrelevant for this problem.

Of course there should some way to type c with acute, but that option should
not be 'c for
US keyboards, as there are no accented Cs in any language that uses US
keyboards. For those
languages, which also have many other different characters, the use of specific
keyboard
layouts cannot be avoided.

For characters as the 'c with acute', which are so infrequently used in English
as in Portuguese,
one could have an easily available character table. I don't think that any
other language uses
US keyboards with dead keys except Portuguese and Spanish. In Spanish there is
no problem,
because the only non-English character is the ñ, and there is no ambiguity
there. For Portuguese,
the only non-English character is the ç, for which the good option is the 'c,
as it is a two-strike
combination.

[Bug 836945] Re: Screen always goes blank after 10 minutes

2013-02-21 Thread Oleg Moiseichuk
Actually there exist 2 settings, 1st one affects screensaver (blank screen),
2nd affects monitor power saving mode (suspends monitor):
1. Schema: org.gnome.desktop.session, Key: idle-delay
2. Schema: org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power, Key: sleep-display-ac
System Settings Brightness and Lock seems to set both of them
simultaneously, when you choose the timeout Turn screen off when inactive
for:. But you can set them separately with 'dconf' tool or using gsettings.
If your screen blanks unexpectedly, check these 2 keys and correct them as
needed.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Mario Frasca
hi Leandro,

you write
as there are no accented Cs in any language that uses US keyboards...
and
I don't think that any other language uses US keyboards with dead keys...

please don't forget that there are quite a few languages around here in Europe,
some of them use ć, and when we write to someone from an other country we often
want to write their names correctly! :)
I am not so sure, but I assume that e.g. Polish or Serbian programmers also use
the US keyboard.
to most of them, ç is probably of little use while ć is a very common symbol.

let me understand why you want to alter the US layout when you need Portuguese?
using the Portuguese layout, isn't it an option for you?

bug #919899 is about the compose key, you are talking about dead keys.
Is it possible that some patches aiming at satisfying #518056 broke
things for #919899?

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Leandro
Hello Mario,

Serbian, for instance, has also the č, ć, ž, đ, š characters. None of them can
be typed in a US keyboard.
That is because Serbians have their own keyboard layout (and that is available
within the options
when one installs a linux distribution). It makes no sense to keep the accented
c letter if its only use
will be typing the names of someone in a language that may have many other
characters, so that
you would be able to type only a part of the name correctly :-).

This is the same for every other language in Europe having the accented
c letter in its alfabet.

If someone in Serbia or Poland use the US keyboard layout, which they may use,
they certainly have
to do a lot adaptations to be able to write in their languages. Probably if
they use that keyboard
is for programming only.

The situation is different for Portuguese, in which the ONLY adaptation
required is the 'c = ç, and
the keyboard can be used (and IS used) like that. There is a Brazilian
Portuguese layout, and
the corresponding physical keyboard, and those work just fine. The issue is
that in Brazil, at least,
many, many people buy they computers abroad or imported ones, which come with
the
US-layout. The historical and practical adaptation is the 'c=ç, and that is
what is used by default
for US-keyboards in portuguese in other operating systems.

Not having a keyboard layout to chose from in which the 'c corresponds to ç has
been a great
headache for people trying to use linux and trying to convince other to use it,
you may imagine
how frustrating is to present someone a alterantive OS in which they can't type
a frequently
used character the practical and usual way.

I have no idea if those bugs are related. I know that in some recent
instalations there are signs
(signs, because some people still report problems in some applications) that
the 'c=ç option
is been adopted. I insisted in many blogs and here that the ideal solution is
simply to include
yet another keyboard layout called US-International with dead-keys (cedilla),
but of course
what I want is not traduced easily in other people implementing that, and
sometimes I have
received feedbacks on more technically skilled people saying that any solution
to this problems
involves complications far beyound my understanding.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Mario Frasca
so you are pushing development towards dead_apostrophe + c producing ç.
I think it's wrong, inconsistent with the rest, but fine, we agree that we
disagree on this.

problem is that multi_key apostrophe c now also produces ç and
that there is no composition any more giving ć.

please note: multi_key is what one would use when one needs the most
generic tool.

it would be nice if we knew what was changed in order to achieve the
current behaviour, because some of us would like to roll it back.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2013-02-21 Thread Leandro
Mario, I do agree that ,c seems pretier to represent ç than 'c. However, ,c
cannot be typed
as a two stroke combination in a dead-key combination, obviously because the
comma cannot
be a dead key.

The only thing I would like to be pushing (I don't think my pushings are having
any effect, as this
problem persists since I went on into linux for the first time) is to have the
OPTION to chose
a keyboard layout in which 'c=ç, and what I am indeed argumenting is that for
the absolute mayority
of people who would bother to use a US keyboard with dead keys, this is the
option that is
useful.

It is very, very, frustating to hear arguments oposing to the fixing of this
bug, because its fixing does
not require breaking anything else if a new keyboard layout becomes available
with this option,
within the set of tenths of layouts from which one already can chose when
installing a linux box.

I don't think, as you, that any other option is wrong, as I think people
should use their computer
as they find confortable. In windows (which I do not use) I once could create a
new keyboard
layout with a very easy to use application, and even distributed it. I needed
that to create the
adequate behavior for portuguese in a UK keyboard. I think that is the way to
go, and not to disminish
the needs of other users for, I don't know, ahestetical reasons. This ç problem
is not my problem
only, type cedilha no ubuntu, you will find more than 7 thousand posts of
people asking how
to solve this or giving partial solutions for every new ubuntu version.
(cedilha linux gives
you almost 20 thousand posts - yes, I think all from Brazil).

The problem with multi-keys I am not aware about, and if that is a problem
should be reported
as a different problem, anyway. And I don't agree that the multi-key solution
is optimal, because
nobody remembers the combination of strokes of characters that are not used
frequently. I'm
not against the multikeys, but I think there should be a character table
accessible from anywhere
in the system from which one could copy and paste any character to any
application.

[Bug 987578] Re: Evince is not allowed to use exo-open

2013-02-21 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Wannes, or anyone else affected,

Accepted evince into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/3.4.0-0ubuntu1.5
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1131362] [NEW] Asks to unlock private key that was already unlocked by ssh-add(1)

2013-02-21 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Public bug reported:

This concerns gnome-keyring 3.6.1-0ubuntu1 in Ubuntu Quantal.

Normally, I invoke ssh-add(1) manually after logging in. I add a number
of identities, and then connect to other hosts using those identities.
This worked correctly in Ubuntu Oneiric.

Now, with a new Quantal install, when I connect to another host I am
confronted with a dialog to unlock the same private key that should have
been unlocked with ssh-add. If I type in my passphrase again into this
dialog, the connection succeeds and the identity is cached, but of
course the agent should not be requesting the passphrase a second time.

I suspect the problem is that the agent is counting one of my private
keys twice:

$ ssh-add -l
2048 97:ea:51:11:53:94:14:7f:25:f2:b0:f5:a8:54:04:56 foo@bar (RSA)

$ ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_rsa_foo /srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_{blah,xyzzy}
Enter passphrase for /home/skunk/.ssh/id_rsa_foo:
Identity added: /home/skunk/.ssh/id_rsa_foo (/home/skunk/.ssh/id_rsa_foo)
Identity added: /srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_blah (/srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_blah)
Identity added: /srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_xyzzy (/srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_xyzzy)

$ ssh-add -l
2048 97:ea:51:11:53:94:14:7f:25:f2:b0:f5:a8:54:04:56
/home/skunk/.ssh/id_rsa_foo (RSA)
2048 f9:3b:29:60:b3:59:69:e2:c3:d8:09:cd:d2:8b:a0:08 /srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_blah
(RSA)
2048 ac:c2:c3:ac:b9:ae:e5:c9:85:85:71:18:3c:0f:2a:a1
/srv/local/ssh/id_rsa_xyzzy (RSA)
2048 97:ea:51:11:53:94:14:7f:25:f2:b0:f5:a8:54:04:56 foo@bar (RSA)

Notice how the 97:ea:51:11:... key is listed twice in the second ssh-add -l
listing. When the unlock-private-key dialog comes up, it is for the foo@bar
identity, and gnome-keyring's failure to recognize that id_rsa_foo is the
selfsame key is probably the crux of this bug.

[Bug 1083644] Re: Palimpsest does not support gparted GPT

2013-02-21 Thread Charlie Daly
I have the same hard disk, a 4T My Book from WD and I have the same problem.
The details might be a little off because I am not at work at the moment.

I used gparted to create a GUID Partition Table and created a ~3.8T
partition and a ~100G partition.

Disk Utility correctly identified the partitions, but could not identify
the partition table. It characterised the partition table as unknown.

I could not delete or modify the partitions using disk utility.

My computer is a Dell desktop running 12:10 64 bit.

Should I open a new bug since this one is expired.

[Bug 1077415] Re: No recursive search with the simple engine

2013-02-21 Thread David Bensimon
Hi Seb,

Cosimo reported in October that recursive search was turned back on in

Cheers,

David
