this bug also effects 13.04.
I wish there was an easier option... and secure option!
as a lot of business and educational institutions use proxies.
Please fix this.

[Bug 1147049] Re: Status input unusable

2013-03-13 Thread Paul Kishimoto
In the image (bug.png) — I used to be able to click where it says
Available and choose another status (Busy, Away, Offline, Invisible)
or a saved status, or enter a custom status message.

None of that works any more. When I click on Available, nothing
happens.

[Bug 795985] Re: gcalctool needs to interpret comma (, ) as decimal dot (.)

Confirm the bug in gcalctool version 6.6.0 in Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon

Tried the workaround suggested by Ypthor in post #2. Success.
I now have a dot which is better than nothing.

(In Ubuntu 9.04 I never had this problem but in 10.10 and 11.04 I had it and
replaced gcalctool with other calculator)

[Bug 828756] Re: getting connection is untrusted warnings

2013-03-13 Thread Adam Porter
Ok, as far as KDE goes, the fix is to remove empathy. For some reason,
when empathy was installed, the KDE Telepathy stuff was using empathy to
authenticate, and it was failing. The Gtk error box and non-KDE desktop
notification should have tipped me off sooner, but it wasn't until I
brought up the KWin Special Application Settings for the Gtk self-
signed certificate error box and saw that it was from the empathy
process that I made the connection.

After removing empathy, when I tried to connect to GTalk, I got a
kdewallet prompt, clicked Allow Always, and now it works fine.

I don't know why KDE was using empathy when it didn't need to.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

[Bug 1077415] Re: No recursive search with the simple engine

2013-03-13 Thread alecive
Gnome 3.6 is the worst gnome ever, and recursive search removal played a
pivotal role on this. Do we really need to get stuck with gnome devs
that mess up their DE and remove this functionality (and many other)
from the upcoming ubuntu release?

But a workaround here is to assign some keys for changing keyboard layout.
Go to System Settings Keyboard Layout Options (button on the bottom right)
Under key(s) to change layout select an option, so you will be able to swith
layouts in lock screen via keyboard.

[Bug 377322] Re: Nautilus sftp connection breaks spontaneously after a while, needing re-login to fix it

2013-03-13 Thread aktiwers
I think I have found a solution to this problem - and I don't think its
a bug anymore.

Trying on another router, I found it not to disconnect anymore. The
router causing the problem I had no access to (since its not mine), but
reading through some man pages I found that

Editing the following config file: /etc/ssh/ssh_config

and add this line:
ServerAliveInterval 60

Fixed it for me. Or should have fixed it, but didnt. Puttin the interval
to 10 instead did fix it! :)

But 60 should be enough for must people.

[Bug 1154866] [NEW] keyboard shortcut allows impossible keys to be assigned

2013-03-13 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

Unity forbids the Windows Key from being used in shortcuts
(LP#950160). However, the gnome-control-center keyboard shortcut
application will happily allow users to try to assign keyboard shortcuts
that use this key combination.

gnome-control-center should not allow keys to be assigned that cannot
possibly work. The user must be made aware in some fashion that the
desired setting is impossible.

Launch the control center; select Keyboard. Select Shortcuts. Select any
function (calculator?). Hit Windows+d to assign. Note the assignment
worked. Try your key. It won't start the calculator.

[Bug 94056] Re: configure automatic proxy with identification

2013-03-13 Thread Ade Malsasa Akbar
We need this add username and password feature included in GNOME Control
Center, and we absolutely need it hides our password when type it. Why?
Because we have 2 type of connection: with proxy and without.

We want to easily pass apt-get through proxy authentication, without
editing /etc/apt/apt.conf like in this:
http://malsasa.wordpress.com/2012/11/26/bagaimana-mengatur-apt-get-di-
belakang-proxy-server/. When we set username and password in apt-conf,
in proxy connection, we can get apt-get works. But when we go to
nonproxy connection, we use GNOME Control Center to set proxy = none.
Indeed, we can go online without proxy. But if we do this, we miss all
apt.conf password setting. And we should do apt.conf setting for too
many times. So, easily enter username and password (must be hidden when
type) included in GNOME Control Center, is very important feature.
Synaptic Preferences for proxy authentication is a perfect example. We
need such feature to be included in GNOME Control Center.

If GNOME Control Center hasn't hiding password feature, of generally we
must edit apt.conf (or such) text file to enable proxy, it is dangerous
I think in Ubuntu user's security. Someone can steal our proxy password.
It is very easy to open apt.conf file. Whereas, e.g. the password is our
campus absolute access key. I think such this password management must
be exist in GNOME Control Center soon.

Thank you so much, GNOME Control Center developer and maintainer :)

[Bug 951585] Re: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles

2013-03-13 Thread Baldwindc
The issue occurs when you have a remote file system mounted. It does not
matter if you are actively accessing the file system.

I am running Ubuntu 12.10. I was connecting to a mac share via ssh.
Nautilus had mounted the drive for my current session.

^My two cents

[Bug 1154813] [NEW] Boot broken with initramfs-tools 0.103ubuntu0.5b1

2013-03-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi

Today I upgraded udev and initramfs-tools to version 0.103ubuntu0.5b1.

The update of initramfs-tools seems to cause boot issues.
As it doesn't wait long enough for /dev/by-uuid/ to come available, the boot
cannot be completed.
You get dropped into initramfs busybox.

If you exit the busybox after some seconds, the system boots normally.

Downgrading initramfs-tools fixes the issue.

** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Critical
 Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti)
 Status: In Progress
