[Bug 869793] Re: Nautilus is very slow when opening folders with many files
This bugs persists with Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS. I cannot fathom how an issue as drastic as this in a system component as crucial as the file manager after seven years has yet to be resolved. How can PCmanFM and Dolphin be this lightning fast compared to Nautilus? I am not one to complain about bugs in FLOSS software as I know the volunteer time and effort that goes into developing it. [Bug 1108104] Re: [raring] Portable Players - MTP Rhythmbox plugin not working, can't sync music with Android device
@langdalep wrote You can't have two MTP clients talking to one device at the same time. What should be done, then ? If I understand correctly, gvfs can multiplex calls from different clients. So it might be a good idea to have it the only one to talk to the MTP server. If so, rhythmbox could/should be changed to connect to gvfs, right ? But rhythmbox would then talk gvfs, not MTP. Is that a good thing ? Or is it a better idea to insert a MTP-specific multiplexer that is the only one available from clients (hiding the direct connection). That multiplexer would accepts connections from multiple clients. Each client would still talk MTP. Is that possible ? In both setups, the MTP server talks to only one client, and several simultaneous clients can talk to the server. Is any of those two paths a good path to go ? Or something different ? [Bug 869793] Re: Nautilus is very slow when opening folders with many files
Jan, the bug is not fixed in Ubuntu 12.10 (64-bit), at least not for me. To put a quantitative example. [Bug 869793] Re: Nautilus is very slow when opening folders with many files
Of course, the 43 seconds are the default behavior. If you disable the Show thumbnails option in nautilus preferences, the time goes down to 3 seconds. It seems clear what is causing the problem. [Bug 869793] Re: Nautilus is very slow when opening folders with many files
I made a stupid mistake. I was opening the same folder after changing the thumbnails option. Sorry about that. This is a more accurate assessment. [Bug 1131068] [NEW] option to disable the disk full warning does not work at all
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm experiencing a very annoying bug: I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 now on my personal file server (the bug was present in 12.04, too): This file server uses several disk partitions to store some Truecrypt container files that span across almost the entire volume. So a few of my disk partitions are in fact almost full. That's why Ubuntu/Unity shows a dialog for each effected volume. I can confirm these dialogs, but the messages appear again and again every ~2 minutes. There is an option to disable theses warnings for the corresponding volume, but this setting has no effect. Function of this setting is very important for me - I don't need these warnings, because I don't store any additional files on these volumes. And because the warnings come so often and because there are several warnings at a time, I cannot use Ubuntu at all, because I'm busy closing these warnings most of the time... ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment disk full hide option warning -- option to disable the disk full warning does not work at all https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1131068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1037579] [NEW] can't print and automatically fit picture to frame
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi, I am trying to print a picture to a 6x4 photo paper. If the picture is not originally shot with the same scale ratio as the photo paper, then there will be white borders on the sides. There is no option to automatically fit the picture to the frame by croping borders of the pictures. In windows there is just a checkbox to check to obtain this. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-sg/windows-vista/Print-a-picture In the image settings pane of Ubuntu, there is various settings to position the picture in the frame and dynamically see the result, but everything is manual, and the scaling option seems bugous since you can only zoom out wich only creates more white borders. AS you see in the attached screeenshot, the max scaling is 13% (why 13% ??) and I can't go past this. For whatever reason there is a scale option in percentage on the 'Page Setup pane, but you can't see how it will render unless you do a print preview, and it will take many tries to get the right amount of zoom. I tried Gimp, Shotwell, EOG, and there is this issue everywhere. Until now my fix is to print on windows ... ** Affects: shotwell Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: shotwell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: fit frame picture print ubuntu -- can't print and automatically fit picture to frame https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
