[Bug 1075928] Re: Please, silence IA__gdk_error_trap_pop: assertion `gdk_error_traps != NULL' failed

2013-03-21 Thread Andrey Bondarenko
Suddenly found possible cause/workaround for the bug. In 12.10
environment variable GTK_MODULES is set for all DE (including KDE or
XFCE). If variable is unset, gdk_error_trap_pop may disappear appear
when starting GTK applications.

On my desktop:

$ env | grep GTK_MODULES
GTK_MODULES=canberra-gtk-module:canberra-gtk-module

$ fslint-gui
/usr/bin/fslint-gui:1950: GtkWarning: IA__gdk_error_trap_pop: assertion

[Bug 1158594] Re: Video is too yellow/bright, as if a grossly exaggerated gamma transform is applied (raring regression)

2013-03-21 Thread Max Bowsher
It looks like this may be a totem bug specifically, as if I launch the
same file playing simultaneously through totem, gst-launch-0.10 and gst-
launch-1.0 by executing the following in a terminal:

totem rUgAgfO-16s.mp4 & gst-launch-1.0 playbin uri=file:///home/maxb
/rUgAgfO-16s.mp4 & gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=file:///home/maxb
/rUgAgfO-16s.mp4 &

it is easy to see that only the totem playback displays the abnormal
colouring.

[Bug 1158594] [NEW] Video is too yellow/bright, as if a grossly exaggerated gamma transform is applied (raring regression)

2013-03-21 Thread Max Bowsher
Public bug reported:

Some video files play in totem in raring appearing far too bright and
yellowish - the appearance is similar to an excessively strong
application of a gamma transform.

To reproduce:

1) Download this video from youtube (~15MB): youtube-dl -f 18
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUgAgfO-16s

2) Open the downloaded file in totem, and the youtube page in a browser,
and play them side by side simultaneously. The difference should be
readily apparent, especially in the flaring on the "Game of Thrones"
text in the title sequence and in the desert scenery.

Other media players such as vlc, xine-ui render the video correctly.

[Bug 1158592] [NEW] Overwriting a duplicate file does not need confirmation

2013-03-21 Thread Adrien Cordonnier
Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS default install.

I have several folders with mostly the same content. A few files have
been modified in any of them but most files are duplicates. I want to
merge the folders with a simple drag and drop in Nautilus.

I expect Nautilus to ask me before overwriting a file when the two files
with the same name have a different content. Yet I don't expect a
question when the files are identical. Indeed, if the files are
duplicates, it makes no differences to overwrite or keep the existing
file so no question should be displayed.

Currently in 12.04, for every file with the same name, Nautilus ask
whether I want to replace the existing file or to skip copying/moving.
It is not practical when there are thousand of duplicates. Even with a
few it is not obvious to know if the files differ by a few bytes only
(the only the change date may give a hint).

Thus I suggest to silently "overwrite" a file when the source and target
files are duplicates.

[Bug 1158584] [NEW] Printer setup dialog unusable

2013-03-21 Thread Nick Phillips
Public bug reported:

It appears to be impossible to add a printer by FQDN/hostname/IP using
the Gnome printer settings panel's "Add Printer" option.

Whether I type in anything in the "address" box or not, the same long
list of printer models appears in the list above, and one of those (that
does not correspond to the hostname specified) is added if I press
"add".

It is absolutely essential that it be possible to add a printer by FQDN;
we have enough devices on the LAN that it is impossible to tell which
autodiscovered printer is which.

Workaround is to use the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631

[Bug 1157188] Re: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in g_str_hash()

2013-03-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Ok, I see. I asked because gnome-language-selector makes similar queries
to accountsservice about the current language and regional formats
settings. The reason why gnome-control-center fails to do it for you is
a mystery to me right now.

The proposed fix would prevent gnome-control-center from crashing, but
it does not really address the root cause.

Anyway, thanks for your additional info.

[Bug 1067876] Re: Missing "Safely Remove Drive" option from Quicklists. Only have "Eject".

2013-03-21 Thread Norbert
I saw something interesting with Nautilus 1:3.6.3-0ubuntu10:
it showed "Safely remove drive" for only 1 of my 5 flashes - Kingston
DataTraveller G2 16 GB (USB VID/PID 0951:1624) and powered off it. It's a small
progress.
It showed "Safely remove drive" for my USB-HDD (Seagate ST9750420A in USB
Tsunami e-data 2500 enclosure), but did not spin down it.

I got similar results for Fedora 19 with Nautilus 3.8 (see
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao5e713Ig9g_dEtqbmhOVnJuVmRmOEx1QXpMSncwbEE#gid=0).

[Bug 773896] Re: Evolution does not show persistent alarms in Unity

No progress for almost two years? Ubuntu should be better than this.

What can we do to help debug this, and test solutions? Without
persistence, alarms are completely useless.
