[Bug 1168293] Re: No Certificate dialog frozen

2013-04-16 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Actually, I realize that the dialog underneath the warning dialog (entitled
Wii-Fi Network Authentication Required) is still active;
I can check the Show password box, click on Connect again (no effect) or on
Cancel, which closes both dialogs alltogether.

(I attach a screenshot to make things clearer)

So this seem to ne not so much a freeze than a focus problem ?

I tried to change the window-manager (metacity instead of gnome-shell),
but the problem was still there.

** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2013-04-16 09:05:48.png

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1168293/+attachment/3645365/+files/Screenshot%20from%202013-04-16%2009%3A05%3A48.png

** Summary changed:

- No Certificate dialog frozen
+ No Certificate dialog not responding

** Description changed:

- I'm using ubuntu 13.04 (raring ringtail) beta.
+ I'm using ubuntu 13.04 (raring ringtail) beta, with gnome-shell.
I try to connect to a secure wi-fi network (eduroam).
I enter my login and password, but no certificate -- I'm instructed by my
university to ignore the warning (I know this is bad, but...).
Said warning appears (dialog entitled No Certificate Authority certificate
chosen), but it is completely frozen.
Neither the Don't warn me again checkbox, or the button react to my clicks.
The window manager can not even close the dialog, I have to xkill it.

[Bug 1070006] Re: Mobile Broadband Fails to Configure on Ubuntu-Gnome (ZTE MF622)

2013-04-16 Thread piotr zimoch

The modem (ZTE MF622) is recognised and 'Mobile Broadband' can be
enabled. The network is shown ('3' in the UK) and has signal strength
bars (2 for me). However, the modem doesn't connect.

- Ubuntu Desktop displays a Mobile Broadband Connection dialog/wizard
- which allows me to select and configure my network provider. Ubuntu
- Gnome doesn't - I'm not sure if this is relevant.
-
- Syslog does not show any activity by pppd, whereas it does on Desktop.

2013-04-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a

[Bug 1130399] Re: Nautilus CIFS Windows Share Mount Bug

The GNOME team is not longer working on GNOME 3.4 and will not provide a patch

António Fernandes 2013-04-16 12:24:26 UTC

Thank you for testing!

GNOME developers are no longer working on version 3.4, so unfortunately there
will not be any bug fixes for that version.

But it's the version shipped with Ubuntu's LTS release, so you may get a fix
from Ubuntu. I suggest going back to your Launchpad report and push for a patch
there.

Thank you again for testing with the live disk!

ftp and https must pass through the http proxy

I should be able to manually specify the protocol or the URL for the proxy and
the GUI should assume it is ftp or https by default.

If I try to use the GUI to set the network proxy I end up with a broken
configuration.

[Bug 1130399] Re: Nautilus CIFS Windows Share Mount Bug

2013-04-16 Thread David Cahill
Please do not change this to expired. You guys keep passing the buck
back and forth:

GNOME developers are no longer working on version 3.4, so unfortunately there
will not be any bug fixes for that version.

But it's the version shipped with Ubuntu's LTS release, so you may get a fix
from Ubuntu. I suggest going back to your Launchpad report and push for a patch
there.

Thank you again for testing with the live disk!

[Bug 1084851] Re: No system-wide proxy for automatic proxy setting method

2013-04-16 Thread Joshua Lock
Of that I'm not really certain. I filed this report because as a user
the behaviour surprised me that some things would be able to access the
network and others wouldn't.

Having dug into the problem a little it's apparent that it's not trivial
to solve - that doesn't mean that it's not worth solving, though.

Perhaps Ubuntu could integrate the PACRunner project[1], or something
similar, and teach the various network dependant tools to talk to that
rather than relying on environment variables?

Or perhaps the tools can be taught to use libproxy[2]?

At the very least maybe we should alert the user that the automatic
settings will result in various things, such as software installation,
possibly not working.

I suppose which resolution is chosen depends on how much of a priority
seamless networking on proxied connections is for Ubuntu and the
engineers involved.

2. https://code.google.com/p/libproxy/

[Bug 1169640] [NEW] GDM fails to start after system crash

2013-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My system hangs every once in a while when exiting the game HoN. Usually
it was fine just to reset the system, now GDM fails to start and I can't
seem to fix it. We narrowed it down to what appears to be an upstart
issue after some tracking with the help of a gnome dev.

I can start gdm manually as root, but during boot it only gives me
[failed]. This happens even before gdm is actually started so there
are no gdm logs created. I've altered /etc/init/gdm.conf by including
echo's but it never even gets to the script part on line 24. I.e. the
part in which gdm actually gets started.

I've installed lightdm to get a running system again and that does work.
I do, however, prefer to get gdm back, without a drastic complete system
reinstall measure.

Please see the original upstream bug report for more details and things
I've tried so far.

Why is upstart failing to launch gdm while it does manage to launch
lightdm? What could be the cause of the problem and how do I fix it?

OS: Ubuntu 12.10 GNOME remix (x64), with all gnome3 ppa packages updated.

[Bug 1169755] [NEW] WLAN won't stay connected in 13.04 Beta

2013-04-16 Thread Steve White
Public bug reported:

This is 13.04 Beta, on a Lenovo S206, running Ubuntu Try off a stick.

After configuring, the WLAN does *not* show in the gnome menu list of access
points.
No connection is made.

Some 5 minutes later, it magically connected. Then it died again. I
re-connected, it died again. and so on.
It doesn't stay connected for one minute.

Using the 'wl' module in 12.10 on the same machine, the connection is
solid.

[Bug 839157] Re: Bluetooth applet (OBEX send/browse) does not work since Natty (after bluetoothd 4.84 exactly)

2013-04-16 Thread Steve White
Hi I looked at it again, this time in Ubuntu 12.10.

It's still broken.

HOWEVER

If auto-authorize is set on the phone, IT WORKS!!
The phones file directories open (in not-unreasonable time)

Otherwise, you go through the process of typing in a confirmation number
in the phone, then typing the same number into a dialog in Linux,
and NOTHING.

SO the remaining problem has to do with the authorization step.

Fix this, and we'll be HALFWAY THERE!!!
Because... BT file browsing is a SIGSEV on 64-bit machines. Made a separate
bug for that.

[Bug 1147639] Re: Cannot add IRC account details

2013-04-16 Thread Robert Roth
Can you add details for any other protocols except Facebook and Google?
I am seeing the same bug with all protocols except those two, and I'm
seeing this on all my fresh installs of raring, so it seems to me like
something more serious then a low priority bug.

[Bug 1168760] [NEW] Desktop files disappear offscreen when second monitor is connected

2013-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When there is a second monitor attached and when the second monitor is
on the right and the top of the second monitor is higher then the top of
the primary monitor (on the left), then when one clicks the organize
desktop button, the icons will start at where the top of the monitor
would be if the tops were both lined up. (see http://picpaste.com
/ubuntu_bug-l448hoUU.png). Icons on my computer are arrange top-to-
bottom, left-to-right; the default setting.

I am using Ubuntu 12.10.
