Frequent problems with dbus-daemon entering a runaway state, consuming 100%
of one core for extended durations. KDE applications fail to open or react in a
timely manner while this is happening. Couldn't open firefox, terminal, system
monitor, vlc, gedit , etc...
Previously, I've been using 32 bit ubuntu with no problems (ever). This
problem is there since I installed ubuntu 13.04.

  Reproducible: Yes

Steps to Reproduce: Seems linked to login duration, running KDE apps (or
dbus enabled apps) include: Firefox, Network Manager.

Actual Results: One core at sustained 97(+)% cpu. dbus-daemon highest
process in "top" output. Killing dbus-daemon clears CPU utilization, but
then all KDE and dbus applications(like firefox, nautilus, network
manager applet) fail to run until restart.

Expected Results: dbus-daemon should not runaway.

[Bug 1176760] [NEW] Odd drag-to-maximize behavior with dual monitors

2013-05-05 Thread Dave Kokandy
Public bug reported:

I use two monitors (of slightly different resolution), and I noticed
that Rhythmbox doesn't behave as expected when trying to maximize in the
other window by dragging (using the mouse cursor) the title bar of the
app to the top of the other monitor.

Other apps (firefox, nautilus) work fine when I try to do this - if I
have them maximized or windowed on one monitor, I can drag the app by
its title bar to the top title bar of the other monitor, and the app
will resize to take up the whole screen. When I try this with rhythmbox,
though, the monitor I'm dragging it to colors in with orange as if it is
going to take over that screen, but then it snaps back full size on the
original monitor.

I can successfully get it to go the other monitor if I try to do one of
those Windows 7-style half-screen snap things by dragging it to the left
or right edge of the destination monitor, and then from there I can make
the app maximize by hitting the maximize button or dragging the snapped
window to the top of the screen.

[Bug 1133663] Re: Extract Here fails to preserve timestamps for non-empty folders

2013-05-05 Thread Ernie 07
This BUG manifests in 12.10, 13.04 and 13.10 but NOT in 12.04
Apparently this functionality is either considered perfect and/or not
important enough to warrant QA regression testing.

When a non-empty directory gets extracted, its datetime stamp is
immediately restored but recursive extraction of its content (files,
folders, etc) will update that directory's datetime stamp with the time
of extraction. In 12.04, the datetime stamp restoration was delayed
until after all content had been extracted.

Until it gets fixed upstream (2013 perhaps), the following CLI command
will allow proper extraction of a tar.bz2 archive:

tar --delay -xvf tar-archive-name

tar -xvf tar-archive-name MAY yield unpredictable results

My eyes have trouble seeing the double hypen in "--dash" as I type this,
so I will refer to them as "hyphen hyphen".

"hypen hypen" delay is an acceptable abbreviation of the option "hypen
hyphen" delay-directory-restore

[Bug 1176704] [NEW] Seeking through tracks after resuming

2013-05-05 Thread Ben Cracknell
Public bug reported:

About 50% of the time, when I resume Rhythmbox from a paused state it
will seek forward an unspecified amount of time, anywhere from a few
seconds to several tracks. It seeks at about 1min/sec.

but the tracks work fine before pausing.

[Bug 676315] [NEW] Menu item mnemonics do not appear on characters with descenders

2013-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Mnemonics in menu items work -- but do not show up -- under characters
that contain a descender (i.e. lower-case y or upper-case Q.)

The problem can be reproduced in Gedit, Calculator, Mines, Shotwell, and
probably many others as well. It occurs regardless of theme, but it's
specific to the new Ubuntu font. The bug will *not* reproduce with
other fonts.

[Bug 1173982] Re: gnome-system-monitor gksu summary

2013-05-05 Thread Robert Roth
Thanks for the heads-up, I did not know that text is used for stop an
continue processes too, even if looking at it seems absolutely logic.
Anyway, I have changed the wording from "kill process" to "control
process" which is more generic and can involve continue, stop, kill
process too (changed in upstream trunk).

Public bug reported:

I took a screenshot of a nautilus ("Files"?!) window to document bug

[Bug 1176634] [NEW] Mounted RAID volumes have missing icons.

2013-05-05 Thread bluebomber
Public bug reported:

In the new file manager ("Files"?!) my mounted RAIDs have missing icons.
See the attached photo. Also notice in the attached photo how taking a
capture of the Files window introduced a transparency issue on the left
hand side of the window. I'll file a separate bug report for that (if
one hasn't already been created), and update this bug report with the
reference to it.

[Bug 1176457] Re: pangolin 1360x768 and 1280x768 looks the same on an integrated Intel HD 4000 Ivy Brigde

2013-05-05 Thread Feliciano Chavez
** Description changed:

I have this new hardware: Celeron Ivy Bridge on a B75 chipset, and a
  non-PnP Sharp TV/LCD connected via VGA1 port.

When finished installing, I only found 1024x768 and 800x600 as options,
so I went through the cvt and/or gtf-> modeline -> xrandr process and
was able to add the 1280x768 and the 1360x768 resolutions (@60Hz) my
TV/monitor supports. I even made the .xprofile script for that. But the
  resolutions are not working right:

If I set 1024x768 or 1280x768, the monitor picks it as it should, but if
I set 1360x768, the monitor picks it as 1280x768.

I thought it could be my KVM (although works fine on the same machine
with Windows 7 and Windows XP), so I removed the KVM, and no difference.

Using fresh installed ubuntu 12.04.2 64bits, up to date.
  Gigabyte GA-B75M-DV3, Sharp LC-19SB27UT.
  Right:
  "1280x768" 79.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
  "1280x720" 74.50 1280 1344 1472 1664 720 723 728 748 -hsync +vsync
  Wrong:
  "1360x768_1" 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
  "1360x768_2" 84.72 1360 1424 1568 1776 768 769 772 795 -HSync +Vsync
+
+ EDIT. Workaround found:
+ Someboby pulled out an EDID modeline that fills the screen, but after reboot
forced me to reinstall xorg, and X is not working right after resuming from
suspend (mouse arrow over black 1024x768 backbground).
+ ModeLine "1360x768" 85.50 1360 1424 1536 1792 768 771 778 795 -HSync -VSync

[Bug 1176509] Re: After update to 13.04 Brasero CD write hangs at "normalizing tracks"

2013-05-05 Thread Kibi Hofmann
So it turns out that the "normalizing" thing is a plugin for Brasero
When I disable that plugin, the burning continues, so I guess this should be
marked as a bug in the normalizing plugin

[Bug 1176509] [NEW] After update to 13.04 Brasero CD write hangs at "normalizing tracks"

2013-05-05 Thread Kibi Hofmann
Public bug reported:

I was previously able to burn a music CD, now that I have upgraded to
13.04 I cannot. I select tracks (they happen to be in OGG format) then
press the button to burn. The dialog shows "Normalizing tracks" (which
is the first visible step) then nothing happens. Retried but it didn't
help.
