[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-05-20 Thread Miklos Juhasz
I reinstalled the proposed plymouth/lightdm packages, confirmed that I have the
unmodified files from both packages.
I rebooted my desktop 30 times in a row, not a single failure. If I happen to
experience the issue again I'll report back.

[Bug 958389] Re: brightness not work correctly on eee pc

2013-05-20 Thread Laryllan
I have the same problem on an eeePC 1215N, Ubuntu 13.04 32 bits.

I found a workaround to get maximum brightness back:
sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=ff

It resets the maximum brightness to maximum.
If it does not work for you, try another PCI device (find the adress with
lspci), like
sudo setpci -s 00:02.1 f4.b=ff

2013-05-20 Thread TJ
I discovered that deleting the Jabber GTalk account and replacing it
with a full Google account solves the problem, so it looks like a bad
interaction with the gabble --- signond -- google-talkplugin
combination.

[Bug 1026254] Re: Open with on folders was removed, Ubuntu should consider patching back

2013-05-20 Thread deivid
I completely agree with comments #9 and #11. I used to have 'musicbrainz
picard' configured as an alternative app to open folders and would use
that a lot. Now I have to open it from a terminal as the same effect is
better done through select all in a folder. (comment in commit that
removes this option) is obviously not true.

Thanks @mc3man for the patch and the support (in ubuntuforums) on
installing it.

@TJ, I have this problem and I've always used the full UOA google
account setup (and ever since ubuntu 12.10 I think thats the only way
you can setup a google account in empathy, because afiak they have
totally tore out the legacy empathy accounts diaglogue and replaced it
with UOA)

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-05-20 Thread Martin Gyurko
I was a fool and made a fresh install of 13.04 64bit on my file server.
Also a 13.04 32bit on my laptop.
Now I can't even copy small amount of files back to the laptop.
It seems to hang after the first file, sometimes after copying directories.
This bug is a showstopper!!!
This hurts!
please somebody who knows how to fix it, just take the time and do it!

[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-05-20 Thread James M. Leddy
We need to SRU udev as well, and ultimately g-s-d so that it actually
mutes the volume when it gets this keycode. I'll work on the SRU
template since Lenovo would probably like this to work in 12.04

[Bug 1182189] [NEW] Regression in Empathy / Telepathy : force chat window to come in foreground when new message comes

2013-05-20 Thread Xavier Guillot
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I'm currently using version 3.6.4 on Ubuntu Saucy (development version).

There is a regression comparing to previous releases, as said here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/telepathy-indicator/+bug/1098549
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/206547

The option Display incoming events in the notification area is no more
available, so I have no more way to force any incoming message to put
the chat window on the focus when Empathy is in the background !

99% of the time, Empathy contacts main window is in the background : I
start Empathy and then work with other programs in foreground (Firefox,
Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Gedit...).

My preference is to have the discussion window opening and/or coming to
the foreground at EACH time one of my connected contacts sends me a
message when I'm available - if I do not want to be disturbed, I go
offline, busy or invisible.

Function was recently implemented but seems to have disappeared:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=585914

Is it a choice of developers - to make the code cleaner or because of
move to Gnome 3 or because the notification area is no more present in
Gnome Shell or Unity or to suppress some options or customization (like
in Nautilus) - or is it temporary and will be fixed with a future
version of Empathy or Telepathy ?

Because now, I often miss some conversations... I had to go to Dconf
editor to activate the Ubuntu notifications (being informed with the
top-right bubble via libnotify and sound when a contact connects, goes
offline), but did not find any way to force chat window go to
foreground.

The only indication goes on the MeMenu (I miss it often) and to Unity
dock when no chat window is opened (only the contact ones), a number
appears to indicate how many messages are unread. But when the chat
window is opened and in the background, no more number, just a small and
short animation on the Unity dock...

So is there a way to have this back in Ubuntu (via Dconf or something
else) ? Empathy is well integrated in Gnome and Ubuntu, with online
contacts, Telepathy... and I want to keep using it, but I need this
configuration to be available (as an option) again.

I asked main Empathy developer, who answered me by mail : solution is to

Write a Telepathy script : a telepathy Approver which automatically
approves all new text-type channels.

To make the window visible at foreground each time we receive a message
(even if chat window is already opened but in background), it needs to
be also an Observer and that it calls PresentChannel() for all answers
we get.

I don't know how to do this and if it can be implemented in Ubuntu ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Xavier

[Bug 1014385] Re: Can't select misc-fixed-semicondensed aka 6x13 font

2013-05-20 Thread Chris Bainbridge
http://ptspts.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/how-to-enable-bitmap-fonts-on-
ubuntu.html Using the fixedsc font and conf file from that page worked
for me. Note The Fixed (6x13) had to be renamed to FixedSC, because the
original 6x13 font has the tag semicondensed, which makes it impossible
to select in the GNOME font selection dialog (or in any fontconfig-based
app). - might this be the issue?

[Bug 1182301] [NEW] Totem DBus pause method doesn't work

2013-05-20 Thread dmiller309
Public bug reported:

The Play() method works, as does the PlayPause() method, but the Pause()
method does nothing. I'm writing an application that uses the Pause()
method for media players, and Rhythmbox and VLC work fine, but Totem
requires the workaround that Pause() be replaced by PlayPause().

If you're using qdbusviewer or something like that, you can locate the bug here:
Session Bus
Service: org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.totem
Object: /org/mpris/MediaPlayer2
Interface: org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player
Method: Pause

Relevant files:
/usr/lib/totem/plugins/dbus
I tried to fix the bug by changing the contents of the Pause(self) method to
@dbus.service.method (dbus_interface = 'org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Player',
  in_signature = '', # pylint: disable-msg=C0103
  out_signature = '')
def Pause (self):
if not self.totem.is_playing ():
return
self.totem.action_play_pause ()
because the Play and PlayPause methods work fine, but this wasn't successful.

Related problems:
* Totem's Unity right-click menu is inconsistent with Rhythmbox's.
Totem's menu has play/pause as one entry
Rhythmbox lists play and pause separately, but play does nothing if
Rhythmbox is playing and pause does nothing if Rhythmbox is already paused.
* Totem doesn't have DBus enabled by default.
* Totem's DBus integration is nonstandard (Bug #642172)

Thanks.
