[Bug 1187646] [NEW] Desktop lockup when dragging from file roller to pcmanfm

2013-06-05 Thread Francisco José Lazur
Public bug reported:

Hardware: Dell Inspiron E6520
Description:Ubuntu 13.04
Release:13.04
file-roller:
  Installed: 3.6.3-1ubuntu4
  Candidate: 3.6.3-1ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 3.6.3-1ubuntu4 0
500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Steps to reproduce: Open a compressed tar file with file roller and drag
a file or folder from file roller to an open pcmanfm window. The desktop
is unaware of mouse clicks until I press Ctrl+Alt+F1, login into console
and kill the file roller process.

It seems identical to #878993 which is marked as closed in 12.04 but
I'm experienced it in 13.04.

Best regards.

The Replaces line seems wrong. It's Replaces: gnome-keyring (
3.6.2-0ubuntu2~) in the precise package.

Trying to install the libp11-kit-gnome-keyring, I get the following

[Bug 859600] Re: Please convert gnome-keyring to multiarch

2013-06-05 Thread eraserix
Looks odd, this is gnome-keyring 3.2.2, but libp11-kit-gnome-keyring has in the
d/control:
Breaks: gnome-keyring ( 3.6.2-0ubuntu2~)
Replaces: gnome-keyring ( 3.6.2-0ubuntu2~)

This two should contain the version of THIS package, e.g.
3.2.2-2ubuntu4.2.

And for coinstalling x86_64 and i386 variants, see below. I've added
proposed as suggested in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed.

# sudo apt-get install gnome-keyring:i386/precise-proposed

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome-keyring:i386 : Depends: libcap-ng0:i386 but it is not going to be
installed
Depends: libgck-1-0:i386 (= 2.91.1) but it is not going

[Bug 1187699] [NEW] Timeout retreiving Google calendar

2013-06-05 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

I added a Google account using credentials-preferences. The email works
fine in Evolution (yay!), but calendars never show up. Evolution sits
there for a while thinking about it, and then times out. See attached
screenshot.

I'm not sure how to get additional debugging info, but if told how I
gladly will.

[Bug 1187699] Re: Timeout retreiving Google calendar

2013-06-05 Thread Iain Lane
Mardy and I did a little IRC debugging and we discovered the following--

This seems to only happen with 2fa accounts. After adding such a Google
account I'm immediately told that it's not authenticated and I get shown
a Grant access button to do so. If I click this I get a plain page
with username/password fields instead of the usual webview (apparently
this comes from the eds calendar integration). I enter my username and
password and click OK after which I'm returned without further
feedback to previous screen.

With a non-2fa account I get prompted to grant access to two things -
Ubuntu and Evolution - without having to click Grant access or type my
username and password a second time. Everything in Evo then works.

[Bug 1113420] Re: Alt+key window menu shortcuts cannot be disabled

2013-06-05 Thread Dražen Lučanin
Woohoo! It seems that this is already possible! I just read this comment
on an SO question

http://askubuntu.com/questions/124815/how-do-i-enable-emacs-keybindings-
in-google-chrome#comment332725_233539

System Settings - Keyboard - Shortcuts tab - Windows section - Disable
Activate the window menu

Although this is only alt+space initially, disabling it removes all the
alt+key window menu shorcuts. Since this is the case, this bug report
can be aimed at making that description clearer.

[Bug 1113420] Re: Alt+key window menu shortcuts cannot be disabled

2013-06-05 Thread Dražen Lučanin
False alarm, it doesn't really work :(

It seemed to be working for Chromium, but not for all applications.
Seems that Chromium didn't have these shortcut menu items - just alt+f
mapping to its options.

[Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver

2013-06-05 Thread William Pietri
Thanks, Steve. The box was set up by a vendor (Emperor Linux), so
perhaps they did something custom with the splash screens when I got it
18 months ago.

Aesthetically, making something vital (UI startup) depend on something
decorative (splash screens) seems odd. Perhaps future versions of this
can be made more robust.

In case somebody else with a similar problem finds this bug report, I
verified the problem by using debsums

  % sudo debsums -a plymouth
  [most package items ok]
debsums: missing file /etc/init/plymouth-log.conf (from plymouth package)
debsums: missing file /etc/init/plymouth-upstart-bridge.conf (from plymouth
package)

  /etc/init/plymouth-ready.conf
OK
debsums: missing file /etc/init/plymouth-splash.conf (from plymouth package)

And the precise command I used to fix the problem was:
  % sudo apt-get --reinstall -o Dpkg::Options::=--force-confmiss install
plymouth

That put back the missing files.

I also did sudo debsums -s to make sure nothing else important was
missing.

[Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-06-05 Thread James M. Leddy
Ideally, we get this SRUed to Precise. I've filled out the SRU template.
It's just a bit tricky because functionality cross cuts a lot of
packages. I've added branches for all of the packages that require code
changes. It works something like this:

1) x11-proto gets updated with a new #define
2) install x11proto-core-dev on the build server
3) rebuild libx11
4) update the remaining linked packages: udev, gnome-settings-daemon,
xkeyboard-config

I've subbed sponsors for some guidance and to get x11-proto updated.
Alternately if this is out of scope we can close this bug for precise.

Same issue on my Thinkpad X201 (Ubuntu 13.04 64bits). I also noticed that if I
click on an entry of the menu bar of any application (for example File menu of
Firefox), then use the function buttons to increase/decrease brigthness :
1. Brigthness is increased/decreased in single steps.
2. The Brigthness indicator is not shown.

[Bug 932935] Re: nautilus ftp file transfer hangs when transferring directories

2013-06-05 Thread André Pirard
Workaround within.

I am surprised to upgrade to 12.04 with updates up to 13.06 and to meet
this very serious problem reported 12.02 that did not exist with 10.04.

In my mind, a bug report system should contain not only a Bug description and a
Bug Discussion sections but also a Bug solution section where the user can find
in everybody's terms what he must do to solve the problem in the LTS system he
is running (and not another one).
I am surprised that this doesn't seem to be Canonical's view.

In consequence, I have written the summary of what would have remained
hidden in here as an update to Bug Description to serve as a Bug
Solution/Workaround.

After upgrading to 12.04 updated 13.06, I met the bug described here.
Typically, I was unable to download a folder from the FTP server (make a
backup).
I had the idea to work with links instead of canonical (ahem) names.
ln -sfT ~/.gvfs/FTP as username on hostname my.local.alias
And there went the folder copy happily to that link.
Even made the copy test both ways simultaneously.
Well, there were a few files on which the Copy stopped with a error.
But that's because my server makes frequent size limits, aborts, timeouts and
such.
File Copy should have a retry option and I retried manually.

Now I still have to see if another PITA remains.
Sometimes, the information obtained from a subsequetly opened FTP connection
predates what's supposed to be accomplished on the first connection (race
condition), such as an application creating a file and then trying to rename it
and getting a does not exist [yet] result.

Another problem is that opening the canonical name opens Firefox instead of
Nautilus.
Also worked around with the symbolic link.

nobody probably cares about ftp these days ;)
Oh yes. Think twice. It's often the only way to access a free server and you
shouldn't tell them that gvfs-ftp and Gigolo make it as easy as anything.

it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the
to the people writing the software.
Ubuntu users should not be requested to know where Canonical gets its software
and to do that.
(even a triager once sent me to the wrong place)
This bug report should be peered with an upstream bug by Canonical so that
everybody can contribute from Launchpad without the need to make dozens of
OpenIDless other subscriptions.
And so would the Ubuntu users get all the Ubuntu information in the Ubuntu
database.
I've seen attempts to peer BugDBx with BugDBy. That's a N*N effort.
Maybe create a central hub and make it a N effort?

Adam: You’re right, nautilus doesn’t seem to remember the password. Once I
unmounted the FTP share, I have to re-type the password if I want to mount it
again. But this really seems to be a different bug.
Use Gigolo, it does it, and be happy.

Made in Belgium, with chocolate and beer ;-)

Enjoy!

This report is basically the same as bug #574693 but it is already
closed as fixed and won't be reopened.

I ran into this issue in Ubuntu 11.10 x64 while copying from the FTP server
to my Ubuntu box. Please see attached video.
  gvfs: 1.10.0-0ubuntu1
  nautilus: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu3.2
  Linux: 3.0.0-16-generic
FTP server: OpenWRT Backfire (10.03.1, r29592), Linux 2.6.32.27, vsftpd
2.3.4-2

List of files I tried to copy: ./Sample/thuck-wtts-sample.avi thick-wtts.nfo
thick-wtts.r00 ... thick-wtts.r57 thick-wtts.rar thick-wtts.sfv
The name of the directory: Welcome.to.the.Stukko..HUN.DVDRip.XviD-Thuck
The size of the whole directory is approx 1.1 Gbytes. The rar files are
approx 20 Mbytes. 64 files, 1 subdirectory.
(This material is of course a public domain home made footage)

I already reproduced this bug three times, copying only worked when I tried
to copy the files themselves and not the whole directory. The operation always
stops around 20 megabytes.
When I close all nautilus windows, the little copying bar still remains in
the Launcher on the icon of nautilus indicating that some operation is still
ongoing but nothing is actually happening.

[Bug 1094086] Re: Bluetooth: Computer running Ubuntu 12.04 with visible-switch turned on not visible for other bluetooth devices

2013-06-05 Thread Joey Brown
Bug was marked as RESOLVED/OBSOLETE:

André Klapper [developer] 2013-05-27 11:43:39 UTC

Hi Michael,
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using version 3.2.x which is too old and not supported
anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so
unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes by GNOME developers for the
version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new
functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a
newer version of GNOME.

Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer
version of GNOME, or feel free to file a bug report in the bug tracking system
of your distribution if your distribution still supports this version.
