[Bug 1189382] [NEW] Misleading icons for “Keyboard” and “Keyboard Layout” in Control Center

2013-06-10 Thread Frederik Elwert
Public bug reported:

Control Center has two settings panels for keyboard related settings:
“Keyboard” and “Keyboard Layout”. The icons used for these panels are
misleading, as they suggest exact the opposite content:

- The “Keyboard Layout” icon depicts tree keys, two of which are connected by
an orange line. This suggest something like “keyboard shortcuts”, where you
combine two or more keys to trigger certain actions. But shortcuts are part of
the “Keyboard” panel.
- The “Keyboard” icon depicts a whole computer keyboard. This suggests that one
can configure the keyboard as a whole, i.e. its layout.

Thus, I would suggest switching the icons used for these panels.

P.S.: One could also question the categories these settings belong to:
Personally, I would expect the keyboard layout to define the “Hardware” aspect
of the keyboard, while keyboard shortcuts are more of a “Personal” setting.
P.P.S.: A related, but different bug is #883256 which suggests merging these
categories altogether.

[Bug 377322] Re: Nautilus sftp connection breaks spontaneously after a while, needing re-login to fix it

2013-06-10 Thread Murray Cumming
I haven't thoroughly tracked what messages I see now, but it certainly
seems much better.

I do now get that Opps something went wrong. message about the
underlying SSh process died, and I can then just try again, whereas
before I had to explicitly kill a process. I don't know for sure if
that's never necessary any more, but I'll report here if I experience
it.

Even if killing the process is still sometimes necessary, things do seem
much better, though obviously the Oops something went wrong message
doesn't need to be shown to the user if a reconnection can be done
without even mentioning it.

[Bug 1189463] [NEW] cannot select text entry field on unlock screen

2013-06-10 Thread drink
Public bug reported:

Sometimes when I resume from suspend I cannot select the text entry
field so that I can enter my password, and the cursor is not in the box.
The keyboard is unresponsive, but the mouse works as I can click the

[Bug 1189563] [NEW] Keyboard problem running Xvnc through inetd

2013-06-10 Thread José Alburquerque
Public bug reported:

Hi. I run Xvnc through inetd (using the openbsd-inetd package) to see
get a lightdm login screen which allows me to login to my system
remotely as if I was at the desktop (I use ssh tunnels to ensure the
connection is secure). The configuration files that make this possible
look like the following:

--/etc/inetd.conf--
#off# sane-port stream tcp nowait saned:saned /usr/sbin/saned saned
#off# ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/wu-ftpd -l

# Added by admin (Jose)
7000 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd -desktop=Server -query
localhost -IdleTimeout 7200 -depth 16 -geometry 1920x1080 -once
securitytypes=none

8000 stream tcp wait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd -desktop=Server -query
localhost -IdleTimeout 7200 -depth 16 -geometry 1920x1080 -once
securitytypes=none
-

--/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf---
[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=unity-greeter
user-session=ubuntu

[XDMCPServer]
enabled=true
-

I connect successfully from a remote host and get the login screen. I
can also successfully login using either the unpersistant session above
(the one associated with port 7000) or the persistant session (the one
associated with port 8000). The problem I'm experiencing is that if I
open a gnome-terminal (I'm running the gnome fallback mode with no
effects the BTW) and press the letter 'd' in the terminal, the terminal
is minimized and the letter 'd' never appears in the terminal. The other
keys (like 'a', 'b', etc.) work fine. No modifier keys are being held
done on the keyboard. I don't know why this happens.

It seems that the keyboard interpreter applet is interpreting some
modifier keys being pressed when they are not. On my regular desktop, if
press Alt+Ctrl+d the same thing happens with a terminal (it is minized).
I think that Alt+Ctrl+d is the hotkey to hide/show the gnome desktop.

Another thing that happens in a vnc session with the terminal is that if
I press the up arrow key, the terminal is maximized. I wonder if this
has to do with some configuration file that I'm not aware of.

Could someone look into this? Thanks. I filed the following similar
bug under the Xvnc source package, but I've got no replies and thought
that it would be more appropriate here:

[Bug 1189672] [NEW] Missing icons for missing files and import errors

2013-06-10 Thread bayo
Public bug reported:

I use an uptodate Ubuntu 13.04 with rhythmbox 2.98

There are some missing icons in the left navigation panel. Entries
missing files and import errors do not display any icons.

This entries are only visible when there is an import error (Erreurs
d'importation) or a missing file (Fichiers manquants).

I launch rhythmbox on a shell, and there is no warning messages.

[Bug 1031449] Re: rhythmbox leaking memory

2013-06-10 Thread Matthew Fischer
I'll have a debdiff tomorrow for raring.

** Description changed:

- Memory usage : 10.9% and constantly increasing (that's over 400 MB on my
- system with 4 GB)
+ [Impact]
+ Large memory leak in Rhythmbox that manifests itself primarily when changing
tracks. The leak for changing through 50 tracks is around 17MB. More tracks =
more leaks. This bug hits memory constrained platforms especially hard, but all
users should be able to listen to music for an afternoon without running out of
memory.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ I loaded 50 random MP3 tracks from my collection onto a clean system. Some
had album art, some did not. Lengths varied from 1 min to 20 mins, most were
3-4 mins long. I started watching rhythmbox with smem, updating every 10
seconds. I then started ryhthmbox and began playing audio. I did two test cases
then:
+
+ 1) I let each track play for 1-2 seconds and then skipped to the next
+ track. The original precise version 2.96-0ubuntu4.2 leaks heavily as the
+ tracks cycle:
+
+ foo@localhost:~$ while true; do smem -H -P ^rhythmbox; sleep 10; done
+ 779 mfisch rhythmbox 02556827387

[Bug 1189653] [NEW] User Accounts password change form incorrectly says Wrong password when password chage restrictions in effect

2013-06-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

If a user has password expiry restrictions in place that prevent
password changes (such as a minimum password age set with chage) and
they try to change their password through the User Accounts tool, they
will see a red warning icon to the right of the Current password
field, and the hover text for that icon is Wrong password. This text
is misleading in this circumstance.

2013-06-10 Thread Alistair Fitchie
great!.
Now can someone please do the same for the U.K?
It's been 4 years since I took up Linux, and not once has the forecast worked.
A previous suggestion to allow the user to be able to change the web site would
have been the way to go, but obviously, you know different.
Try this page for size then...
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/livingston-fc#?tab=regionalForecastfcTime=1370818800

There are another 499 sites similar to above, to change to get the
forecasts for the whole of the UK to work.

I wish you the best of British...
