[Bug 885592] Re: No parent folder button in Nautilus

2013-06-19 Thread Michael P
This bug _is_ still present, and its a _real_ bug.

for example:
If you have logged in to a remote directory over SSH with nautilus, you will
usually end in your homedirectory WITHOUT an easy solution to go up to /
Every morning when i log in at work i am bugged by this, every fucking morning.
bugged by some smartypants thinking:i dont need it = noone needs it.

Yes, i know i can press alt+L and then manipulate the address bar as i like, or
press alt+up, but hey, whats the point in designing a gui when its not fully
useable without keyboard?
thats just bad design.

[Bug 1181817] Re: 'Appearance' settings dialog crashes on launch

This is still an issue and apport-cli is still denying that launchpadlib

update the bug where I'm reporting it. I'm attaching the crash file

[Bug 1163107] Re: Wacom calibration results are off (wrong area)

2013-06-19 Thread Tomas
Hi Josh et al. Testing the calibration before your workaround didn't yield
proper results, it was still way off. After entering a reasonable value in
dconf and recalibrating it indeed seems to calibrate my pen instead of touch,
resulting in a nicely calibrated screen.
Sorry about not realising this earlier. As far as I'm considered this bug is
fixed.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to

[Bug 1192659] Re: Keyring passwords visible after login without second password prompt

2013-06-19 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for reporting this issue.

This is by design, your keyring is unlocked automatically using your
login password.

Asking for a password after your keyring is unlocked would be security
theatre and would not improve security.

For more information see here:

[Bug 1192688] [NEW] MATLAB's Java windows disappear from the taskbar

2013-06-19 Thread Jason Monschke
Public bug reported:

I have seen past bug reports on this issue however it seems to have gone
stale since 10.04. My machine is running Xubuntu 13.04 64-bit and the
problem is with MATLAB R2011a Student Version.

Randomly MATLAB's windows will disappear from the taskbar and the only
way to access them is using ALT+TAB.

[Bug 1192445] Re: Possible bug copying/moving big files with nautilus 3.4.2

2013-06-19 Thread david
nor directly cause loss of data I disagree Imagine you move a file
with very important data from one
filesystem to another, and the data you have copied is not the same than the
original data, isn't that a loss of data, is it?
Has happened to me a lot of times that i've moved a big file to another fs and
the result isn't the same as the source
and because of the move operation i've lost the source... isn't that a loss of
data?
The file moved is quite similar to the original, but not identical as it would
be.

From now on i am using the mv command or the mc for these tasks because
i no longer trust the nautilus.

Sorry for the annoyances and thank you.

This bug is still not fixed and the duplicate status is wrong. Bug

in comment #6. I am still seeing received messages as coming from
myself.

[Bug 980710] Re: black font on black background in xfce terminal

2013-06-19 Thread D. Hugh Redelmeier
For some unknown reason, this problem showed up on my system recently
(XFCE / Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS system with all updates).

Deleting ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xsettings.xml and
logging in again didn't fix it for me. (See #7)

That file contains property name=ThemeName type=empty/ so I don't
know what theme is being used. I don't particularly want to specify a
theme.

Another silly thing: the launcher uses gnome-terminal when you select
Debian X Terminal Emulator as your preferred terminal emulator. (See
Applications Menu: Settings: Preferred Applications: Utilities: Terminal
Emulator)

My avoid-the-problem solution is to select xterm as the Preferred
Terminal Emulator.

[Bug 1192826] [NEW] totem.desktop description Videos is so vague as to be useless

2013-06-19 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

The .desktop file installed with totem in Xubuntu 13.04 has the
application name Videos. There are several problems with this:

- It is not the name of the application.
- It does not describe the purpose of the application.
- It refers to only one kind of document that the application can handle.
- It does not indicate that it can only play those documents, not modify or
create them.
- It does not distinguish itself from all the other applications that can
handle the same documents.

In short, it is so vague and ambiguous as to be confusing; basically
less than useless. This is an issue in application launcher menus, MIME
document associations, and in the open with application... context
menus of certain file managers.

In order to save unsuspecting users from madness, I suggest the .desktop
file's Name field be updated to something like Totem Movie Player or
Media Player (Totem).
