[Bug 1204599] Re: Unity does not pick up changes to ~/.local/share/applications if it doesn't exist when Unity starts

2013-08-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
In Ubuntu Desktop, gnome-settings-daemon is creating that directory early at
the session start:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings-daemon/commit/?id=3bc9b5d4ca32a099f291be9c751358aa7efc78a4

We should probably do the same in Ubuntu Touch ... not sure what's the
best component to do that though, maybe gnome-session.user-
session.upstart (gnome-session) would be right?

2013-08-16 Thread Edgard
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 882307 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882307

I discovered that although the paste option is grayed out and seems to
be disabled, in reallity the option can still be used. This means that
the problem is rather a duplicate of Bug #948076 (nautilus usable
options sometimes grayed out in right click menu). As described there,
a similar problem sometimes happens with the rename option.

[Bug 1083811] Re: Duplicated panels using separate x screens

2013-08-16 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
*) First I tried with my laptop, but I was not able to set up separate x
screens. Found old message saying that intel does not support separate x
screens - http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-
devel/2009-October/002447.html. Updated gnome-panel to version in
proposed. Seems that with single screen gnome-panel still works ok, did
not see any regression.

*) Installed 12.04 on flash drive. Updated all packages, installed
gnome-panel, nvidia drivers. Tested gnome-panel before enabling
proposed. Gnome panel did not work correctly with separate x screens.
Enabled proposed and upgraded gnome-panel. I can confirm that this bug
is fixed.

---

*) But there is two other bugs that should be fixed in my opinion:

1) White screen/background bug. I have proposed fix for that -
https://code.launchpad.net/~albertsmuktupavels/nautilus/white-screen-
fix-precise/+merge/180232

2) Someone should backport fix for this bug -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1068920.

[Bug 1205087] [NEW] Gnome-system-monitor needs translation item 19 sent to read sending instead.

2013-08-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In the program System Monitor, under Network history (see screen
dump), it says Receiving/Total Received and Sent/Total Sent

This really gets on my nerves :-) For consistency it should be Receiving/Total
Received and Sending/Total Sent
(i.e. replace the first Sent with Sending)

** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

[Bug 1205087] Re: System monitor wording is not consistent

2013-08-16 Thread Anthony Harrington
^ I forgot to mention that there will at least be some comfort to take
in that Ubuntu Saucy will have this change by default when it's released
in a few months and becomes nice and stable. :)

** Summary changed:

- System monitor wording is not consistent
+ Gnome-system-monitor needs translation item 19 sent to read sending
instead.

** Project changed: hundredpapercuts = gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- Gnome-system-monitor needs translation item 19 sent to read sending
instead.
+ Gnome-system-monitor needs translation item 19 Sent to read Sending
instead.

[Bug 1205087] Re: Gnome-system-monitor needs translation item 19 Sent to read Sending instead.

2013-08-16 Thread Anthony Harrington
Small update.

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-langpack/+archive/ppa builds the latest
language translations twice a week into this ppa and then they get
pushed to each ubuntu 'backports' directory on the server, according to
an agreed on schedule (which didn't look very clear cut to me at 1 in
the morning XD)

Long story short - the changes i've made will come much sooner than i
thought, you can add that ppa and update anytime after the next package
version is built there (which could be in the next few days!?) and
you'll never be bothered by this again ...in ubuntu lol (I hope this bug
doesn't linger on for those who don't use launchpad to organise their
translations!)

[Bug 144334] Re: Rythmbox should scan for new music on start by default

2013-08-16 Thread Anthony Harrington
As it is, adding files to /Music (the default Music checking location) and then
opening Rhythmbox DOES get them discovered by default now. I'm pretty sure this
has been the case for a while now.
Having an option available to decide whether or not to do this scanning for new
files added on rhythmbox startup is miles better than having no choice in the
matter. I would strongly advise against removing customisability.

With the desired behaviour already implemented by default and suggesting
removal the option of the ability to change this behaviour, i move that
this bug is invalid.

[Bug 951585] Re: gvfsd-afp consumes 100% of processor cycles

2013-08-16 Thread Wybe Minnebo
I'm confirming this on 64 bits ubuntu 13.04 kernel 3.8.0-27-generic. It
has not been on the same network as a mac may have accessed a synology
nas through AFP, and tried to install virtualbox earlier this week. 3
out of 8 cpu cores alternate between 100% and normal usage.

[Bug 655278] Re: It should be more clear that Shotwell maintains its own Trash

2013-08-16 Thread Anthony Harrington
I too would like to see them unified. In the meantime, however, i'm currently
correcting these strings for en_GB, en_CA and en_AU.
We call the bin on the desktop the Rubbish Bin (this is true for en_gb, i'm
not sure how much it spread from our team's work), and i've tweaked shotwell to
have its bin be called Shotwell's Bin (which is reasonably short and to the
point).

These updates will be in Saucy by default and the other series releases
when their lang packs are updated. Should you wish to have your lang
pack updated before this, there is a ppa updated regularly which can be
added with:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-langpack/ppa

and updating and upgrading.

This bug may be consideredhalf done. This will no longer be an issue for
(most? all?) english locale users once the lang packs update, but the route
cause of the problem means that shotwell must get rid of it's bin and send
deleted images to the default bin.

[Bug 655278] Re: It should be more clear that Shotwell maintains its own Trash

2013-08-16 Thread Anthony Harrington
its* yikes, my spelling tonight.

That should do it on my end. The majority of english locale users are on
en_GB, en_CA or en_AU (i'm not even sure if there are translation teams
on launchpad to handle the rest?) so now australian and british users
can look forward to Shotwell's Bin and Canadian users Shotwell's
Trash (i'm sure 'garbage' might have been more appropriate but this is
a stop gap measure for the time being). Canadian english translations
really don't get a lot of TLC, but en_CA locale users are welcome to
take a more direct role if they want more ideal phrasing.
