[Bug 1213342] [NEW] gnome power manager : do nothing if battery critical

2013-08-17 Thread hemmi7
Public bug reported:

The Standard choice within a freshly installed Ubuntu is to: Do
nothing if the battery reaches critical low level.

This choice already killed 3 of my batteries, because I forgot to change this
to shut down.
Then the laptop rund until the Battery was totally empty, which (especially in
case of already slightly olde batteries) killed them.

I can understand the need, that you in special usecases would like to have
this.
But it is just too dangerous for the hardwares of the ubuntu users to have do
nothing activated as standard option.

[Bug 1081241] Re: Toolbox window handlers not visible after closing and reopening toolbox

I have seen several problems such like these. If you want to move this
toolbox, you have to active the workspace switcher as workspace
switcher. Then you can move and resize the toolbar and also all the
other bars.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When saving a web page to PDF, the resulting file is always placed in
the user's home folder.

Steps to reproduce:
 * Hit file - print in any app that doesn't implement its own print
dialogs. (Firefox is fine.)
 *  Select save to file
 * Under save in folder, choose any other folder than the homedir. (e.g.
/tmp)
 *  Click Print

No file is created in /tmp, but instead it's saved in your homedir.

[Bug 293222] Re: totem doesn't understand video type video/x-ati-vcr

2013-08-17 Thread madbiologist
This is still occurring on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail. I'm getting
sound but no video. I have gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad, gstreamer1.0
-plugins-ugly and gstreamer1.0-libav installed.

Regarding your comment (I love Ubuntu’s “wait for a while and hope the
bug goes away” technique of bug “fixing”), Ubuntu/Canonical are not the
developers of this software. I suggest that you file a gstreamer bug
report in the upstream bugtracker at bugs.freedesktop.org and then add a
watch to this bug by clicking Also affects project at the top of the
page.

[Bug 1213456] [NEW] [REGRESSION 13.04] New tab item missing in Nautilus menu

2013-08-17 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

Open a Nautilus window
Go to the top of the screen.
There is only a Files menu. Click on it to unfold it.

There is a New window option but there is no New tab option.
It used to exist until ubuntu 12.10, now it's gone without a good reason.

Yes, you can easily open a new tab by right-clicking on a folder and
choosing open in new tab from the context menu. But the same can be
said about opening a new window, yet the new window option does exist.

[Bug 1213457] [NEW] [REGRESSION 13.04] Most of Nautilus menus are gone

2013-08-17 Thread matteo sisti sette
Public bug reported:

I realize this is obviously by design, but there's no good reason for
such a design which is plain wrong, so it has to be reverted.

Nautilus used to have a normal menu similar to most applications: File,
Edit, View...

Now it only has a Files menu (where Files is the new shown name
for Nautilus, formerly known as Home Directory and god knows what will
be its name in the next release, consistently with Ubuntu's absurd
obsession of changing the most basic programs' names and always hide the
real name, in this case Nautilus).

Why isn't there any more, for example, an Edit menu with a Copy, Paste,
Cut, etc items?
Of course all those things can be done in other ways, but since we're going to
have a menu bar on the top of the screen anyway, it's nonsensical to remove
from it all the menus one expects to find, consistently with all applications.
Also, that was a place where one could se the keyboard shortcuts associated to
each action.

Or name one single good reason for removing the traditional application
menus.

Using Ubuntu 13.04 and the version available from the official apt
repository, and Fluxbox as desktop manager.

I have already removed the directory ~/.gimp-2.8 and let GIMP re-create
it but it didn't change much.

Is there any solution for this? I'm completely stuck with my work...

Thanks,
Fabio

p.s. Weirdly, when I run GIMP in strace everything works fine. Even
though, of course, running GIMP in strace every time is not a solution,
it goes damn slow and it eats up my machine's resources. What happens
here? Some weird race condition that disappears using strace?
