It's good, Dražen.

But I mean normal safely remove which switches USB-flash LED off and spins down
external USB-HDD.
This functionality is missed now (starting from Ubuntu 12.10).
But non-user-friendly udisks --detach /dev/sdX works normally.

[Bug 581245] Re: critical battery state action destroys netbook remix on lucid

2013-09-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Seva Gluschenko, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily kernel
folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12-rc2

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1016291] Re: gimp-message outputs script-fu-Warning when it's not necessarily a warning

2013-09-30 Thread Andras Muranyi
Thank you for the reply, Thomas.
I'm attaching two test scripts. (None of them is perfect as I am not very good
at Gimp scripts.)
I made the tests with Gimp 2.8.

First one (message-TEST-registered.scm) registers the script with script-fu so
that it can be run from the Filters menu as Message Test. I recommend you run
it with the following command:
gimp -b '(script-fu-message-test)'
The result is a popup titled Gimp Message, which is quite good, the icon
however is a sad face.
Alternatively, you can just start Gimp and run the script from the Filters menu:
The result is an exclamation mark in the status bar, plus the message Hello
World.
The above results don't have the word Warning any more, but still have the
icons that refer to a warning (sad face or exclamation mark).

The second script (message-test-TEST-raw.scm) contains only a gimp-message
command and will run immediately when Gimp is started. I recommend that you
start Gimp from the command line with gimp.
The result is a message on the console: script-fu-Warning: Hello World.

My point is that any reference to a problem situation (sad face,
exclamation mark, or the textWarning) is unnecessary and shall be
replaced (maybe with an i for info icon, and respecively with the text
script-fu-Message) as a gimp-message command does not necessarily

[Bug 1233037] [NEW] IBus stops working when using Alt+Tab to switch between windows

2013-09-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 final beta. I have installed ibus-unikey to type
Vietnamese and added it to the new indicator-keyboard but there is some problem
with it. While I was typing then using alt+tab to switch to another window then
switched back and I couldn't type Vietnamese anymore. The indicator-keyboard's
icon on the panel shows that I'm still using ibus-unikey but I can't type
Vietnamese or see pre-edit working. Sometimes switching to another window then
switching back solves the problem but sometimes it doesn't. I have to restart
ibus every time this problem occurs to resolve it.
By the way, I can't edit the preferences of ibus-unikey with the Text Entry
because there is no option to show the language bar.

[Bug 1233189] [NEW] Turn screen off when inactive always shows Never

2013-09-30 Thread Colin Law
Public bug reported:

On up to date Saucy Beta. To replicate
Open System Settings Brightness Lock
Set Turn screen off when inactive for: to, for example, 10 minutes.
Close Brightness Lock and reopen it.
What should happen: The time should show 10 minutes
What does happen: It shows Never.

The operation of the screen is correct, in the above case the screen
will correctly turn off after ten minutes. It is just the Brightness
Lock displayed value that is wrong.

[Bug 505085] Re: gnome-settings-daemon extensive disk usage

2013-09-30 Thread Mark Ellis
The attached patch checks if max_age and max_size are both -1, ie
thumbnail cleaning is disabled, before scanning the thumbnail dirs. This
enables the performance hit to be removed through a simple configuration
option.

Please apply this patch in ubuntu, it doesn't really fix the problem,
but at least allows it to be disabled easily, without disabling the
entire housekeeping process. I've also submitted it upstream, where it
will probably gather dust for years.

** Patch added: patch to properly allow disabling of thumbnail cache cleaning

This is fixed for me in Saucy, it now suspends when the lid is closed,
even with external monitor, without the workarounds.

[Bug 1195911] Re: ssh: Received disconnect from xx.yy.zz.aa: 2: Too many authentication failures for XXXX

2013-09-30 Thread Lars Noodén
This seems to be partially fixed in Saucy now. Identities are not
getting automatically added to the agent. However, if six keys are
added to the agent manually, it then still is impossible to authenticate
using a seventh key either added to the agent or pointed to manually.

[Bug 850195] Re: Document Viewer 2.32.0 (Evince) prints a blank page

2013-09-30 Thread Stefan Taferner
Here is an example PDF that prints an empty page for me in 13.04 or
13.10.

Printing to file works, but sending it to the printer (magicolor 4650 via
ethernet
in my case) does not work.

[Bug 1232321] Re: Right clicking and paste command is disabled but active

2013-09-30 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

2013-09-30 Thread Dražen Lučanin
OK, Norbert, I understand. I will also sleep easier once we get our safely
remove option back :)

I started seeing the eject master device option in the latest updates to
Ubuntu 13.04, which unmounts all the partitions.
 It's good, Dražen.

But I mean normal safely remove which switches USB-flash LED off and spins
 down external USB-HDD.
This functionality is missed now (starting from Ubuntu 12.10).
But non-user-friendly udisks --detach /dev/sdX works normally.

[Bug 1006490]

2013-09-30 Thread Cxiong
I doubt there is much to do on distribution side.

As fallback mode is dropped from support of GNOME (see
https://wiki.gnome.org/ThreePointSeven/Features/DropOrFixFallbackMode), newer
version GNOME/openSUSE will not even ship with it. So just no one is doing
anything about fallback mode anymore.

A possible quick fix is to use command line tool: xkill.

I also suggest to try out GNOME 3 (non-fallback mode), and to have a GNOME
2-like feel, you can find a lot of useful extensions on
https://extensions.gnome.org/, including a force quit extension. Also in
future GNOME/openSUSE, there will be an officially bundled extensions pack that
offers a better GNOME 2 experience. See
https://help.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/3.8/, many extensions in the Classic
pack are available for openSUSE 12.3 (which includes GNOME 3.6) and are
installable from the above gnome extension site.

In case, you would like a more authentic GNOME 2 style, there are also two GNOME
forks:
1. Cinnamon (fork of GNOME 3), needs 3D graphics support.
2. MATE (fork of old GNOME 2), _no_ 3D support required.

However these are not included in openSUSE 12.3, you can install them from
unofficial repos from http://software.opensuse.org/ though.

Hope these help.

(In reply to comment #2)
 I use Gnome 3 with gnome-session-fallback.

[Bug 817778] Re: the Brasero Normalize Plugin should Not be enabled by default

2013-09-30 Thread ArnaultVandeveld
I've got to add this : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=308393
For me, and other people as well, this plugin is completely blocking the
burning of an audio CD.
Burning starts, the pop-up says Tracks normalization, and stay like this
forever.
If you try to burn it as a .cue, same thing.
So, a fresh and out-of-the-box Brasero from Synaptic isn't able to burn a
basic audio CD...

That's quite annoying O_o
And astonishing that the bug remains, four years later...

[Bug 1233375] [NEW] evolution-calendar-factory causes flicker in the panel-calendar

2013-09-30 Thread fabio
Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu 13.10 beta (3.11.0-8-generic)

When I open the calendar in the panel and point into the calendar
itself, then the calendar is not constantly displayed right, but has
short flickers.

My solution is to kill the process evolution-calendar-factory. Then
the flicker is gone.

Still I have no trouble with this solution, but this maybe because I
have no data in the calendar.
