[Bug 1182658] Re: Geolocation is not working in the browser

2013-10-10 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I installed libubuntu-location-service0 built from the latest trunk
(revision 40), that supposedly removes some exception throwing, however
I’m still getting a very similar stacktrace:

[…]
#9  0x400af172 in _Unwind_Resume ()
at ../../../src/libgcc/config/arm/libunwind.S:344
#10 0x42e23eee in
com::ubuntu::location::service::session::Stub::stop_position_updates() () from
/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libubuntu-location-service.so.0
#11 0x4f7b4a08 in ?? ()
Cannot access memory at address 0x1f
#12 0x4f7b4a08 in ?? ()
Cannot access memory at address 0x1f
Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

So it seems stop_position_updates() still throws an exception. Here is
the current implementation of this method:

void culss::Stub::stop_position_updates() noexcept
{
auto result =
d-object-invoke_method_synchronouslyInterface::StopPositionUpdates,void();

if (result.is_error())
LOG(WARNING)  result.error();
}

invoke_method_synchronously calls send_with_reply_and_block_for_at_most, which
might throw a std::runtime error.
So we need to surround this call with a try…catch block to ensure we respect

[Bug 1224575] Re: gnome-control-center keyboard no longer has way to modify caps lock key behavior

** Also affects: gnome-control-center via
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=703967
   Importance: Unknown
   Status: Unknown

** Description changed:

  Up until Raring, it was trivial to use the gnome-control-center to modify
caps lock key behavior.
  In earlier versions you could do the following:
   - Launch System Settings
   - Click on Keyboard Layout
   - Click on Options
   - These options allow one to modify Caps Lock Key behavior (for example swap
it with ESC)

  In newer versions of Saucy I try to do the following:
    - Launch System Settings
    - Click on Keyboard
    - Click on Layout Settings
    - Cannot find a location similar to these older options

  These older 'Keyboard Layout Options' made it very easy to do things
  like swaping Caps Lock for ESC which make vim users much happier.

[Bug 1215098] Re: iPhone with iOS 7 does not work on Ubuntu

2013-10-10 Thread Juergen Schmidt
ACK -  same here:
iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.2, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

FYI: iTunes in a VMWare WIndows 7 on the same machine works fine (after
disconnect from host and connect to VM).
So it is not a hardware issue and can be fixed in software.

bye, ju

[Bug 1238149] Re: Nautilus doesn't show the Open with Shotwell option

2013-10-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, I can confirm that. It's a bit weird,
gvfs-mime --query image/jpeg lists it and it's in the choices if you
use nemo, that seems like a nautilus bug (or something shotwell does
that nautilus doesn't like)

[Bug 1238186] [NEW] Every time after resume, have to unlock/logon twice

2013-10-10 Thread ThomasNovin
Public bug reported:

My computer suspends after leaving it for 1 hour. When using it again,
it resumes and I have to login to unlock. Then right after login, the
screen goes black and I'm at the logon prompt again.

Settings are both suspend turn screen off after 1 hour.

Note! I cannot reproduce this problem when I lower the timers to screen
off after 10 minutes and suspend 30 minutes.

[Bug 206837] Re: Gedit text area has small gap between edge of text area and edge of window

2013-10-10 Thread positivek
Gedit 3.6.2, maximized, at the right edge:
* right mouse button acts as old middle mouse button: It brings the scroll bar
slider handle to it instantly and you can scroll up and down by holding down
the RMB and moving it. Works fine and mostly as expected.
* middle mouse button does nothing (but it can be used to grab the slider when
away from the very edge of screen).
* left mouse button will initiate a pagedown when clicked anywhere below the
top edge of the slider handle. It will pageup when clicked above the top edge
of the slider handle. Holding it down will initiate multiple page movements in
the direction of the first paging, until released.

On the whole, the mouse behavior seems workable again.

2013-10-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1238149] Re: Nautilus doesn't show the Open with Shotwell option

2013-10-10 Thread Jim Nelson
This is known (ticketed at http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/7292), but
the ultimate cause is https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=702681
The bugzilla ticket (and this one:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=705644) go into the problem
and reasons, but the final result is that this is fixed and should be
available in GTK 3.10.

[Bug 1238410] [NEW] Inconsistent cursor visibility with cursor plugin enabled

2013-10-10 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

On fresh boots the greeter desktop may have the cursor visible or may not
until mouse is moved.
On a log out/in the cursor is almost always invisible until mouse is moved.

This is all well good, maybe some intentional aesthetics/design , however
sometimes the cursor never becomes visible.
In that case hitting some keys or context menu can cause it to show, though
most times a log out is needed.
(with the removal of ctrl+alt+delete log out this means most users will need
to either blindly find the session indicator or hit power button.

When the g-s-d cursor plugin is disabled then the cursor is always
visible, it the plugin has no use in an ubuntu session then maybe it
should be default disabled

There is also the possibility, particularly on ssd drives, of a login
with no session indicator. This occasionally combines with no visible
cursor.

[Bug 955915] Re: screensaver shows old screen content on return from sleep

2013-10-10 Thread riban
I am seeing same symptoms in Ubuntu Studio 13.10 Final Beta 2. This uses
xfce4 so this issue may not be gnome-screensaver specific. I believe
this could be classed as a security issue because it occurs after sleep,
before screen lock kicks in, so a user may have put the machine to sleep
expecting it to be (fairly) secure but another user may subsequently see
the desktop (and any open document). As a minimum it is a privacy issue.
