[Bug 702519] Re: Column headings in Evolution and Claws Mail have rounded corners

2013-11-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
If a bug report is easily reproducible, please don't close it merely
because it was reported on an old version. Thanks.

** Description changed:

  light-themes 0.1.8.4, Ubuntu Natty
+ light-themes 13.04+13.10.20131014-0ubuntu1, evolution 3.8.4-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu
13.10

The table column headings in Evolution and Claws Mail, both native GTK
applications, have rounded corners. This is ugly because it leaves
crevices between and around the headings. It's also inconsistent with
the column headings in Nautilus and Firefox.

[Bug 553527] Re: Installing Evolution should install evolution-indicator

2013-11-26 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
(Jörg Frings-Fürst, please don't close a bug report as no longer
supported if the bug is easily reproducible in a current version.
Thanks.)

** Description changed:

- I am running the current Lucid beta version (as of April 1st).
+ Ubuntu Lucid
+ evolution 3.8.4-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu 13.10
+
+ 1. Install Evolution.
+ 2. Receive some messages.
+
+ What should happen: The messages show up in the messaging menu.
+ What happens: They don't.
+
+ This is because evolution-indicator is not installed along with evolution.
+

After installing Lucid, I decided to remove Evolution. After a few
weeks I decided to reinstall Evolution, which I did. But if I get mail
I don't see an indication to that effect on the indicator applet. I was
assuming that installing Evolution will tie it with the applet, but that
does not appear to be the case.

2013-11-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 952108] Re: [Precise] Nautilus: memory leak

2013-11-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
unfortunatly those reports of it's using nG of ram after a day are not
that useful without steps to reproduce :/ The issue is not happening to
everybody, or we would hear more about it/some of us would be able to
reproduce. The comments suggests that some of the issues are due to
plugins or projects that integrate with nautilus. There might also be a
bug in nautilus trigger in some special situations (or on some special
files for example), we need to figure out what those special conditions
are to be able to work on it though...

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2013-11-26 Thread Christophe Chisogne
On Kubuntu 13.10 (64bit), the problem is easy to reproduce when using
Eclipse from the latest Android bundle and a JDK 1.7 (tested with
jdk1.7.0_25-x64).

Switching GTK2 theme from oxygen-gtk to Raleigh is working in my
configuration (glogal change or GTK2_RC_FILES variable).

On my box, the crash is very often in the same frame (libgobject2
g_object_get_qdata). Running gdb on the core dump does not add much
information.

[Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program

2013-11-26 Thread Roland Bertolom
Maybe that will help for someone as workaround or smth. If you bind for
switching keyboard layout to [left-ctrl] + [left-shift] than only [left-
ctrl] + [any-shift] would not work. While [any-shift] + [right-ctrl]
still works _IF_ you press [shift] first. And if you press keys in such
order it, in fact, doesn't switch keyboard.

[Bug 1255235] [NEW] time-admin help docs show the ability to show/select ntp internet time servers, but the app itself seems to have lost this ability.

2013-11-26 Thread Scott Cowles Jacobs
Public bug reported:

The Time Administration Tool Manual (Help clicked from time-admin window)
states You will be able to choose from a list of Internet servers to keep your
computer clock synchronized automatically., however no such list appears. It
also states Synchronize now button
This will allow you to synchronize just once with the selected Internet
servers.
I see no such button.

I remember several Ubuntu versions ago, I had this ability. I think it was
9.10. I was in Germany, and I needed this ability, as the NTP server
automatically selected for my area was non-functional.

I imagine you have decided it is no longer necessary, but forgot to remove it
from the docs.

If it IS supposed to be there, then it is obviously a bug.
If not, then it's a bug in the documentation.
I had to look in synaptic to see the version number, as the time-admin window
has no About option in the menu (maybe this is a bug?).
Also invoking time-admin from the terminal seems not to have the usual Linux
reponse to --version or --help options, and just brings up the window without
comment...

I have attached screenshots showing time-admin's help windows, that show
the button that one can click to select time servers, and the window
that results from that click showing various internet time servers which
one can checkmark to select.

[IS there a package somewhere that allows one to see/change the NTP servers?]

I am affected by the missing comma problem. I am running gcalctool

reported by dpkg-query -l gcalctool) on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS which is up

When I run gcalctool from a terminal, it outputs the following at
exactly the time it should be outputting a comma (e.g. i type in 1000
into the gcalctool):

(gcalctool:8733): Gtk-WARNING **: Invalid text buffer iterator: either
the iterator is uninitialized, or the characters/pixbufs/widgets in the
buffer have been modified since the iterator was created. You must use
marks, character numbers, or line numbers to preserve a position across
buffer modifications. You can apply tags and insert marks without
invalidating your iterators, but any mutation that affects 'indexable'
buffer contents (contents that can be referred to by character offset)
will invalidate all outstanding iterators

I am using English, but there may be something set for NZ somewhere
hidden. When I examine my environment, there are no LC variables set:

 $ env | grep LC

when i run gcalctool as follows it displays a comma, yet still outputs
the same Gtk-WARNING as above:

 LC_ALL=en_NZ.UTF-8 gcalctool

[Bug 1254923] Re: Source repo has moved

2013-11-26 Thread Charles Lindsay
Sebastien, there are two reasons for this ticket:

1) To make sure Ubuntu has the correct upstream for its packaging (just FYI)
2) To see about getting an updated import branch for shotwell, so we can use it
in our daily build and anywhere else

On 2), I just found the launchpad help docs for import branches
(https://help.launchpad.net/Code/Imports) which seems to suggest that
maybe the best solution here is to request a new import branch with the
new git URL, and once that's set up, move our recipes and anything else
to point to the new branch. If that sounds right to you, I'll open a
request at https://code.launchpad.net/+code-imports/+new and you can
close this bug whenever you feel adequately notified about the repo URL
change.

By the way, Jim didn't think he was an admin on the Shotwell project,
and neither am I. How do we become admins? Do we simply contact the
project creator? I also would like to become an admin of gexiv2 and
Valencia.

[Bug 1214352]

2013-11-26 Thread Björn Michaelsen
(In reply to comment #29)
 - If you're using the packages from PPA, then the bug should be solved with
4.1.2 (unfortunately the PPA currently stuck with 4.1.1). When it will be
updated to 4.1.2, it should work if you also install 'gvfs-backends' and
'libreoffice-gnome' packages. That way it works with Ubuntu 13.10.
Note that the ppa has:
1:4.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~saucy1~ppa3
1:4.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~raring1~ppa1
1:4.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~precise1~ppa1

so all versions should be good, unless the bug is in the respective
baseline on that ppa.

2013-11-26 Thread Momonasmon
(In reply to comment #31)
Can someone do a bibisect of this so that we can maybe get a range?
@Joel Madero: There is no need for bibisect. The problem probably is with the
build environment where we build official releases (maybe some old headers or
something similar). Please see Stephan Bergmann's comment at comment 20 that it
works in his own build, and also see my comment at comment 26 that it works
with a build from tinderbox, but not with the official build. Same under Ubuntu

@Stephan Bergmann: I found why builds with --enable-gnome-vfs won't work

Removing that check solves the problem. Is it OK to just remove that

2013-11-26 Thread Momonasmon

@Stephan Bergmann: I found what causes the problem with the official build:
Looking at the strace output showed that libORBit-2.so.0 can't be found. So
I did 'sudo yum install ORBit2' and now it works!
I can confirm the same for Ubuntu 13.10 (64-bit). Installing 'liborbit2'
package solves the problem.

But unfortunately it still won't work under KDE, unless exporting
'OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome'. That is: Running 'soffice
smb://some_ip/share/document.odt' under KDE doesn't work, but
'OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome soffice smb://some_ip/share/document.odt' does
work. Tested under Fedora 19 (64-bit) Ubuntu 13.10 (64-bit). Tested
with 4.1.3.2 master build (Build ID:

x86_64@46-TDF) built with --enable-gnome-vfs.

Same for MATE desktop. Tested with MATE 1.6.0 under Fedora 19 (64-bit)

2013-11-26 Thread Momonasmon

but surely KIO uses paths into a FUSE mount just like GNOME does -
 making that mostly pointless ?
No, KIO doesn't deal with any kind of mount. It just downloads the file into a
temp folder, and opens it from there. It may cause troubles as in Bug 39591.

The problem now is that starting with 4.1 the .desktop files contain 'X
-KDE-Protocols' definition, which is the equivalent of 'X-GIO-NoFuse'.
So when users double-click on a file we get
'smb://adderss/share/filename', and should deal with it ourselves. And
because the official build uses gnome-vfs, it fails. So there are 3
solutions:

1. Make gnome-vfs work under KDE as suggested above.
2. Force gnome desktop in official build (by exporting OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome
in startup script, or something similar). It won't hurt anyone, since we don't
ship KDE4 integration anyway.
3. Remove 'X-KDE-Protocols' from .desktop files. (But it will bring back Bug
39591.)

[Bug 1250979] Re: Nautilus forgets sidebar settings

2013-11-26 Thread Graeme
I can generate the inverse behaviour (sidebar is always on, nautilus
doesn't keep it off if I turn it off, close a window, open a new one)
with the latest ubuntu-gnome 13.10 live CD for amd64
(http://torrent.ubuntu.com:6969/file?info_hash=A%26M%1C%FA%D2%9C%BD%3A%D0%82%FE%9FV%2Bj%5Cr%94%AA).

So it may be something with gnome3 just persisting whatever behaviour is
set and never remembering your new choices. I am using gnome-shell on
the desktop where I'm seeing this behaviour.

[Bug 1255402] [NEW] the user should be able to disable the recently used files feature in preferences dialog in Image Viewer (eog)

2013-11-26 Thread pengw
Public bug reported:

Hi, I've read the source code of eog and found that the feature of keeping
recently used files list was actually done in its source code (eog-window.c).
It uses gtk_recent_manager to do this.
So instead of disabling the feature by deleting the recently-used.xbel file,
could it be an option in the preferences dialog of eog to be able to enable or
disable this feature? I'm willing to provide the code since it's not too
complicated.

Andrew suggested me to report a bug:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/239833

By the way, I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with eog 3.4.2
Although I came across this problem in eog 3.4.2, I found that the problem
existed in 3.8.2 in Trusty as well.

I'll try to provide a patch as soon as possible.

I'm sorry I'm new here. I can't get the branch using 'bzr branch
lp:ubuntu/precise/eog'. Do you use bzr for version control? Or do you
accept patch file from other subversion system, say, svn? Thanks.

[Bug 33288]

2013-11-26 Thread Carlos Garcia Campos
While working on bug #71160 I've found another regression introduced by
this fix. In some cases, additional lines are added to the selection.
For example, open the hig document and go to the first page. Start
selecting the second line, but dragging from the margin, and you will
see that the first line is selected too. This is because the second line
is more indented than the first one. This fix changed the way blocks and
lines are included in the selection by using the manhattan distance, and
in this case, the distance of the first line is less than the second
line, but the first line doesn't even intersect with the selection
rectangle. If you start the selection closer to the beginning of the
second line, then the first line is not included because distance to the
second line is less in such case.

You can play with it now using the text demo of poppler-glib-demo. I've
added an area selector to get the text of a given area. Try using X1=0,
Y1=122, which should discard the first line, but it doesn't. However
using X1=257, Y1=122 discards the first line entirely.

So, I think that we need to somehow discard blocks and lines that don't
intersect with the selection rectangle even if the manhattan distance is
less than any other block/line.
