[Bug 1232454] Re: Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity. dialog when resuming from suspend

2014-01-28 Thread Bib
@ Ray Velez , I feel this is not a satisfying solution (I didn't try)
because it is like a weakness in security settings.

My script is not working well: although it works fine as long as the computer
don't ends in sleep, when sleep happens then on resume then login the script
won't do the job. I can't find why.

[Bug 1273380] Re: gtk.gdk.Window.get_origin() returns 3 values instead of the documented 2-tuple

2014-01-28 Thread Martin Pitt
If you write gtk.gdk.Window.get_origin() then that is indeed pygtk,
not GI. But as pygtk has been deprecated long ago, and your actual
example uses GI (and gedit got ported to GI long ago as well), I take it
you are using GTK through introspection.

The function is behaving as documented:
https://developer.gnome.org/gdk/unstable/gdk-Windows.html#gdk-window-
get-origin

I. e. it is supposed to return a 3-tuple (return value, x, y). The
return value (i. e. the first part of the tuple) can be ignored as the
documentation mentions.

2014-01-28 Thread Marcello Bassani
Good afternoon,, ;_)

I got this too, all of a sudden, gnome panel disappeared on a freshly installed
gnome-saucy system.
When starting gnome-panel from console: 'sudo gnome-panel' - the following
messages appear,

I have actually never thought about debugging seriously - Thanks anyway for
your work on Ubuntu.
P.S.: I even had tried '#sudo dpkg-reconfigure gnome-panel' plus 'sudo apt-get
install gnome-panel' with no, resp. ...already installed ... - etc.

Have a good day - inspite of all

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-28 Thread ClaudeD
When I opened the ticket, I also mentioned a workaround (set env. var.
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY to blank) before starting a java application. This
solves the problem for me for smartgit and eclipse.

This is clearly an indication of a problem with Unity menus.

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-28 Thread Andreas Ntaflos
Just so that this doesn't get overlooked: I have this problem with
Apache Directory Studio (an Eclipse RCP application) running on Kubuntu
13.10 using KDE 4.12 and the oxygen-gtk engine. It is definitely not
related to Unity directly, though I don't know how many libraries or how
much code oxygen-gtk and Unity share.

In any case, the workaround of running (in my case)
GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
ApacheDirectoryStudio still applies.

[Bug 245620]

2014-01-28 Thread Marek Kašík
Created attachment 92928
Respect orientation when selecting words

Attached is a patch which improves selection of words when PDF is
rotated by multiples of 90°. It sets correct bounds on various visit*()
functions.

The patch doesn't solve all problems related to this. There are still
problems with order of selected lines and blocks when multiple blocks
are selected.

The problem with correct order of lines is easier to fix but I have not
a patch ready yet. The problem with correct order of blocks is a little
bit harder since it needs to correct flows.

The main problem why I started to look into this was that poppler shows this
warning on some PDFs (see next attachment):

*** BUG ***
In pixman_region32_init_rect: Invalid rectangle passed
Set a breakpoint on '_pixman_log_error' to debug

Btw, the patch doesn't fix the problem shown on the Pedro's screenshot but it
is related to the name of this bug.

[Bug 1273779] [NEW] poppler in trusty lets packages ftbfs when building pdf docs

2014-01-28 Thread Matthias Klose
Public bug reported:

in http://people.ubuntuwire.org/~wgrant/rebuild-ftbfs-test/test-
rebuild-20140127-trusty.html

the following packages fail to build when generating the pdf docs: gdb-
doc, iproute2, cvs, gnupg-doc, autoconf. checked main only, not yet
universe.

checked that this can be reproduced when poppler is built with the
current gcc-4.8 and gcc-4.7 releases, both fsf and linaro branches. The
problem is seen on 32bit archs only (tested on i386 and armhf). It can
be worked around by building poppler with -O0.

This may be a GCC issue or a poppler issue, however because it is seen
with the stable gcc-4.7 builds too, it might point to a poppler issue.

[Bug 1273812] [NEW] gvfs hangs on network access

2014-01-28 Thread Alex Stark
Public bug reported:

Bugs like the following have occured before. All previous bugs listed
as either invalid or fix released.

SYSTEM:
Version: 1.18.2-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu Saucy 13.10

SUMMARY:
Copying large directory across webDAV freezes Thunar (probably others)

REPRODUCE:
(A) In middle of LAN nfs large copy, changing password on destination nfs
(obviously not a good idea) freezes Thunar.

(B) In both cases, this is definitively a bug because Thunar has to be
force-closed, and then can freeze again when reopened.

NOT A WORKAROUND:
Unfreeze by killing /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-dav --spawner :1.2
/org/gtk/gvfs/exec_spaw/26 or similar process.

Copying the folders remains impossible. This is a freeze that should
not happen, even if the distant end is misbehaving.

The malloc error reporting should only report the first error, not
attempt to recusively report all error (we knew it was corrupted at the
outer most point, so any further work inside malloc is also likely to
find corruption).

Full stack trace to follow.

The main problem is the process does not abort() and die, it hangs around in:

pthread_once.S:pthread_one()
backtrace.c:__backtrace()

I think due to recursive lock, this lock should trylock() on the 2nd
time and abort() the process immediately. It does appear to deadlock
itself.

[Bug 1235472] Re: New messages do not show

2014-01-28 Thread Brylie Oxley
I am experiencing this bug with Empathy 3.8.4, Ubuntu 13.10.

The message window shows -1 Unread or some other negative number, in
the title bar.

Also, in the contacts menu (blue message indicator when messages
available), clicking on the conversation does not bring the Empathy
window to focus.

[Bug 1240336] Re: Not authorized to perform operation / Unable to determine the session we are in: No session for pid

2014-01-28 Thread Dimitri Bakalow
I just tried a bit of surgery - I made a new installation (from the
scratch) into Virtualbox and took all contents of /etc/pam.d and merged
it into my main system - the one with this bug - thus overwriting files
with new ones but keeping all additional files - not from the system
itself - untouched.

And guess what? Everything seems to work WITHOUT these workarounds
tried before. This implies to the difference in some other file in
/etc/pam.d, which is left over from 13.04 and causing this problem -
other file than /etc/pam.d/lightdm.

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-28 Thread Tom B
I'm not sure this is helpful or not but:

I don't have Unity installed. I'm running Linux Mint which is built from
Ubuntu and I'm running KDE. Whether that rules out a unity bug or not I
don't know.

Setting UBUNTU_MENUPROXY has no effect at all.

Using GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc works, but
it's the same workaround as previously because it just disables the
oxygen-gtk theme.

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-28 Thread Andreas Ntaflos
@auspex: the GTK2_RC_FILES workaround should work for this bug, how are
you calling it? Should look like this:

$ GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
/path/to/eclipse/or/whatever

Alternatively you can set the GTK2 theme to Raleigh globally and try
starting your crashing application then.

If neither of these helps then you are probably experiencing a different
bug, or at least a very different manifestation that apparently hasn't
been encountered yet, going by the information in this thread.

2014-01-28 Thread krishna....@gmail.com
I was able to solve this by adding gnome 3 ppa and updating the missing
packages in 12.04..The disk utility software also was updated..Now I
have Disk Utility at version 3.4.1..So lesson learnt is to upgrade gnome
fully not only install it from software center..This inturn will update
the missing packages and solve incompatibilities..

[Bug 1257505] Re: Create Unity Control Center so can remain on old GNOME Control Center version

2014-01-28 Thread Robert Ancell
Compiz and unity are linked since they install files into /usr/share
/gnome-control-center/keybindings/. We read from /usr/share/unity-
control-center/keybindings/. Other packages that install here are
metacity and gnome-shell but not sure if that matters.

We need to get them to install keybindings into both and/or get u-c-c to
read from the old location as a workaround.
