[Bug 1274368] Re: nautilus
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). You have been subscribed to a public bug: When you are on a webpage, for instance in Chrome, and you select print, print to file, and then select a folder in which to save a .pdf output, you can only save the file as output.pdf, and THEN rename the file to a name you prefer. [Bug 1239087]
OK, I just made that change http://cgit.freedesktop.org/udisks/commit/?id=fcdd8f48b6ac9b1b6da82fdf5f59230fc2ea6feb and tested it with a couple of different units. Notes - One of my devices (bus-powered) does not accept the START STOP UNIT command so we just continue if it fails. That is, this patch should not break existing behavior. - Another device (not bus-powered) used to spin down a couple of seconds after removing power to the USB port. With this patch it spins down immediately. (Which is actually nicer.) - Still works on USB sticks etc. - I didn't add SCSI SYNCHRONIZE CACHE as that command failed on all my devices. I also don't think it's necessary as the device drivers will issue something like this in part of the fsync(2) call that we do before this. Please test if the patch works and report back - thanks! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239087 Title: Safely remove is not working (or broken) in Gnome Disks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1239087/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1239087]
command “sg_start --stop /dev/sdX” really spin-downs my drive (sometimes on 2nd or 3rd attempt - I don’t know why), device remains in system and spin-up again only on my demand. Btw, this is because the sg_start command opens the device node with O_RDWR which causes an uevent 'change' event to fire when the command completes. This in turn causes udev rules to fire which accesses the disk which causes it to spin up again. In the patch I committed to udisks to do this, we use O_RDONLY to avoid this.

[Bug 1274691] [NEW] Screen not locked when coming out of suspend/hibernate
Public bug reported: Occasionally, after coming out of suspend the screen sometimes is unlocked and visible for over a second before the lock screen kicks in. I'm pretty sure I've managed to click on stuff when the lock screen has been particularly slow to kick in. The screen also shows a message box saying Computer will suspend very soon because of inactivity - which needs OK/Cancel clicking as it doesn't go away on its own after waking. Not sure if this is related as it happens even if the problem itself does not occur. Thought I'd mention is for completeness but I think it's already been reported as a bug in its own right. My computer is configured to do nothing on screen close (it does lock when the screen turns off, which happens on lid close), but to suspend only after 5 minutes of inactivity. This appears to work correctly every time. I can finish using it, close the lid then it suspends 5 minutes or so later. I'm partly inclined to consider this a security vulnerability, but mainly find it a little frustrating and confusing. [Bug 1274702] [NEW] Hyper-V KVP infrastructure not working properly
Public bug reported: The Hyper-V KVP package is required to display various metadata from a virtual machine. Currently, the package is installed by using the following command: sudo apt-get install hv-kvp-daemon-init However the installed drivers and daemons do not start even after rebooting the VM. One some further investigation it seems that the kernel installed through the Ubuntu 12.10 ISO is different from the kernel for which the package is compiled and that is why the daemons do not start. After upgrading the kernel manually to match the package, the daemons could be started. After talking to Ben it appears that the kernel should have been automatically upgraded once the hv-kvp package was installed and this might be an issue. For Ubuntu 13.10, we saw that we have to use two commands to install the hv-kvp package: apt-get install linux-tools-3.11.0-15-generic apt-get install hv-kvp-daemon-init Furthermore, even after installing the packages, the daemons are not available under /usr/sbin and have to be manually moved there. Can we make the hv-kvp package dependent on the Linux-tools package? Also can be automatically store in the daemons on the correct disk location? Please let us know. [Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too
In fact, the question should be: do we have to re-enable the traditional titlebar on Gnome Fallback sessions too? I guess it's a question for Ubuntu Gnome, Ubuntu Desktop and/or Ubuntu Design teams, no? I'm proposing a patch (see the branch linked to this bug report) which currently only enable the new titlebar (CSD) on Gnome-Shell. Note that if we want to have this new titlebar on Gnome Fallback sessions too, we can simply replace: g_strcmp0(g_getenv(DESKTOP_SESSION), gnome) == 0 by: g_str_has_prefix(g_getenv(DESKTOP_SESSION), gnome) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1274740 Title: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1274740/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
