[Bug 1268197] Re: UI freeze when doing import from 'Music' folder on first run

2014-01-31 Thread Ville Ranki
I think i can confirm this. I'm updating a large collection mounted on a sftp
share. Importing
progresses quite long, but after a while (1 hour or so ) ui becomes
unresponsive. This happens every time.

Here's a backtrace of the issue. The cause may also be in libgio.

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
 On my session, XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME

that seems buggy, what is setting that variable? it should be set by
gnome-session (if you use it) to whatever session you use, that's what
we use to specify behaviours for GNOME and Unity specific differences.
That seems a bug in your environment/whatever sets it for you rather
than one in nautilus

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Yes this environment variable is set by gnome-session.
In fact, this Cairo-Dock session is like the former Gnome Panel session but
with another panel. So I guess we can see it as a Gnome Fallback session where
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME and DESKTOP_SESSION is not set to gnome (but
gnome-fallback or something like that).

This is why I think the question should be: do we have to re-enable the
traditional titlebar on Gnome Fallback sessions too?
Currently, when using Compiz on a Gnome session, it's not possible to easily
resize the window (except with Alt+middle click)

Yes I think that they always use the same XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP env variable but
DESKTOP_SESSION is different.
I can't test it right now but there you can see some reports by other users:

variables :-) )

Looking at these 8 instances approximately 6 of them were fresh installs

Additionally, there have been many reports of this error since the
package was put in -proposed so it seems likely that the bug is fixed.
Finally, there are no reports of this in Trusty. Subsequently, I am
marking this as verification-done.

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Matthieu Baerts
You are right that the GNOME classic session seems to use GNOME as a

It depends of what we want to have :-)
For me, it's better that GNOME Classic and Cairo-Dock sessions are considered
as a GNOME session.
We can change the value of XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP for Unity because there are a
lot of users/developers/testers than can help patching applications to have a
different behaviour only for this session. But for GNOME Classic and Cairo-Dock
sessions I think that it's better to keep this GNOME value because yes, it's a
GNOME session (just with a different interface). Other applications just wants
to know the desktop environment (is it GNOME, KDE, Unity, etc.) but it should
be the same if we are using GNOME Classic with Metacity or Compiz or
Cairo-Dock, etc.

For this problem here with Nautilus, I think it's a bit different: it
seems that this new toolbar is only made for Gnome-Shell. Here with
Compiz, I'm not able to easily resize the window because there is no
border (and the size is growing each time I relaunch Nautilus). This is
why I think we should only use this new toolbar on Gnome-Shell session
(where XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME and DESKTOP_SESSION=gnome)

[Bug 1274740] Re: Re-enable traditional titlebar on 'gnome-but-not-shell' sessions too

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Your definition of GNOME is not the one we have, some extra comments:
- gnome-session setting XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP is an Ubuntu feature, not an
upstream one, we use it change behaviour between Unity/gnome-shell
- the previous point means the things that use that variable are limited, they
are basically distro change (so not as much work as your comment would suggest)
- we use GNOME as gnome-shell nowadays, that's what enable e.g shell menu,
client side decoration (what is creating your issue here)
- our patches are usually do something specific under Unity|gnome-shell, have
normal/fallback behaviour otherwise, I think if you are not Unity or
gnome-shell you are likely to be always fine with the fallback behaviour (Unity
specific bits are integration with e.g the launcher, gnome-shell ones are the
ones I listed before)

Do you have any example of thing that would stop working if you changed
your DesktopName to be cairo-dock?

[Bug 1262801] Re: eog hangs when the print dialog is closed

2014-01-31 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Also affects: eog (Ubuntu Saucy)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: eog (Ubuntu Saucy)
   Status: New = Triaged

** Changed in: eog (Ubuntu Saucy)
   Importance: Undecided = High

** Description changed:

- When viewing an image in eog (the GNOME image viewer), if I open the Print
dialog through the Image Print menu, eog will hang, and be grayed out, when
the dialog is closed (by clicking Cancel, by clicking Preview, by pressing Esc,
etc.).
- This bug also occurs in the Live DVD, at least when using Virtualbox.
- I'm using Saucy.
+ Impact: When viewing an image in eog (the GNOME image viewer), if I open
+ the Print dialog through the Image Print menu, eog will hang, and be
+ grayed out

- Curiously, when the Print dialog is opened using the keyboard shortcut
- Ctrl + P, the bug doesn't occur, and eog continues to work fine after
- closing the dialog.
+ Test Case: Under Unity, open eog, use appmenu to open the print dialog,
+ close it, eog shouldn't hang

- This bug is very similar to this one:
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/746486 (marked as
- fixed 2 years ago)
-
- ProblemType: Bug
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10

2014-01-31 Thread Eero Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

*This is apparently #51043 all over again, but they suggested to file a
new bug for Ubuntu 13.10 saucy salamander.

So, here goes:

I can

1. *copy* a file in one Nautilus (Files 3.8.2) window
2. Change to diffent folder in same window
3. Right click on empty space and choose *paste*

What does not work

1. *copy* file in Nautilus_window_1
2. *paste* in Nautilus_window_2

The *paste* option is simply grayed out as unavailable.

  (In reply to comment #35)
   (In reply to comment #34)
What problem exactly still exists?
@Stephan Bergmann: Bryan Berndt explained his problem at comment 19.

Ah, right. So /if/ he doesn't have gnome-vfs2-smb package installed, his
findings in comment 30 would be consistent with my findings in comment 20.

  Bryan, can you please clarify?

Sorry, been away for a while. And Just added myself to the CC list, so I can
 try to keep up.

Im now on Fedora 20, x64, and using Libre Office 4.1.4. problem still
exists, as explained in comment 19. Though, the failure is MUCH faster, less
 than a second.

The fix in comment 15 still works, as well.

I use KDE, gnome-vfs2-smb is NOT installed.

works fine using lo 4.1.4 shipped with fc20. Would you provide the ps
aux o/p , after trying to open the document ( without the c#15
workaround).

I personally prefer this (c#15). Is there a reason we do not do delegate
this to gvfs/kio backend by default ?

'ps aux' immediately after failed attempt to open an xls file from SMB

As requested.

I removed the comment in the .desktop file or Libreoffice Calc. (comment
15) Then tried to open an xls file from a SMB share, by doubleclicking
on the icon in Dolphin. I see the Libreoffice logo for a second, and
then nothing.

[Bug 1214352]

2014-01-31 Thread Ritesh Khadgaray
(In reply to comment #48)
Update: attempting to open a .odt on a remote linux share using sftp (so not
using samba) will result in the SAME ERROR. The .desktop sed hack does NOT
solve the problem in this regard. So, from what I know there is no
workaround for Ubuntu 12.04.3 to open .odf files on sftp shares.

Hi. This works fine with precise. Is there an lp for this ?

[Bug 1271591] Re: upstart job race prevents gnome-keyring from being ssh agent

2014-01-31 Thread Andre Tomt
I see what I think is this bug on 3 different computers running 13.10, 2
installed with 13.10, 1 upgraded from 12.10.

Often what ssh agent is tried depends on how I start the terminal - the
agent environment is set differently if started from the dash, launcher
or alt-ctrl-t. And sometimes they all work like they should.

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-31 Thread David V
Just wanted to comment that this bug is also present in the KDE
environment, but not Gnome, on a 64-bit Fedora 20 system. I encountered
it when using an SDK leveraged from Eclipse. The SDK crashes frequently
when I click the OK button on a window. The problematic frame is:

C [libgobject-2.0.so.0+0x19b48] g_object_get_qdata+0x18

Changing the GTK+ Appearance from Oxygen to Raleigh as others have
mentioned is working for me (so far).

[Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-01-31 Thread auspex
@daff Why would you assume a different bug? I have tried it with both forms
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY='' GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
./adt-bundle-linux-x86_64-20131030/eclipse/eclipse -data .
and setting the theme in System Settings, and I _can_ use Eclipse for a while,
but sooner or later I'm going to crash in exactly the same location `# C
[libgobject-2.0.so.0+0x19528] g_object_get_qdata+0x18`

[Bug 1245097] Re: Internal data flow error playing dvds

2014-01-31 Thread hfwilke
Good work KarlRelton. Installing version 1.2.2 of gstreamer1.0
-plugings-ugly in saucy (by using the latest package from Trusty
archive) along with liborc-0.4.0 (dependancy) seems to have fixed mine
as well. No more booting into Windows just to watch DVDs.
