[Bug 1281517] [NEW] Cannot install printer
Public bug reported: I cannot install RICOH Aficio MP C2000 printer. After I click on my printer in the add printer box, a searching for driver box appears. After that a choose driver box appears. This box is not very user friendly. There is checkboxes for Manufacturer, Patented Algorithms and Free software. Non of these checkboxes are working. On the left side I can choose between Gutenprint and Local Driver. When I choose gutenprint, it asks for my password and then the installer goes to 50% and doesn't go further. I am unable to click cancel or close the window, and thus, unable to install the printer. I saw a similar bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /gnome-control-center/+bug/1248303), but that did not solve my problem. [Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly in 13.10 (saucy)
The problem also affects my Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit, however I'm using this workaround: Go to System Settings Text Entry. Under Input sources to use, add your keyboard layout if it still doesn't exist, then move it to the top of all layouts you already have. Or, if you prefer, you can simply delete all the layouts you don't need and keep only the one you want (that's what I've done here). Now, open the Startup Applications, click on Add and do the following: Name: KeyLaySet (This is made up. Invent your own.) Command: bash -c sleep 5 gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources current 0 Comment: Sets keyboard layout to default About Name: you can use whatever you want. About Command: after the system starts up, it will wait for 5 seconds and then change the keyboard layout to the default one (that one you moved to the top in the Input sources to use box). Click on Save and then Close. Now, every time you start Ubuntu, your keyboard layout will be properly set. I hope it's helpful. Cheers. :) brunces -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246272 Title: Keyboard layout changing randomly in 13.10 (saucy) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1246272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
