[Bug 1286022] [NEW] Right-click menu's font is wrong

2014-02-28 Thread Kom-Si
Public bug reported:

I have set the default system font to be 8 pt.
However when I right-click within a Gedit document the menu is shown in 11 pt.
font.
I think it's a bug. Unfortunately while the right-click menu is open in Gedit I
cannot make any screenshot - neither of the program window, nor of the desktop
itself. I consider that a bug, too.

Thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though. The purpose of a
keyring is to provide secure storing, if you could access the stored
passwords without using any authentification then anyone could read
those. You can always set no password on your keyring if that's what you

2014-02-28 Thread fossfreedom
Mike can you run a stack trace with the rhythmbox-dbg debug symbols
package installed.

This should hopefully give a hint of what issue you are hitting.

At the moment I cannot reproduce your issue.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash

also traces such as

rhythmbox -D coverart

and

rhythmbox -d

will also be useful to determine where in the plugin you are hitting
this issue.

The org.freedesktop.login1.power-off-multiple-sessions policy is granted

intended, I think it's generally a good thing on a desktop. However, it

[Bug 1130722] Re: [ffe] Restore a traditional menu under Unity

2014-02-28 Thread Attila Hammer
Lars, not possible restoring traditional menu bar for Nautilus with not only
Unity sessions too?
For example the file-roller application both GNOME Classic session and Unity
presenting the traditional menu bar, Nautilus now only Unity session presenting
the restored main menu.
If this is impossible now, sorry the unneed comment.
In file-roller application I wonderful have possibility to use restored main
menu bar with keyboard and Orca Screen Reader, I using GNOME Shell classic
session.

[Bug 1247362] Re: notification-daemon conflicts with notify-osd when running GNOME Flashback

2014-02-28 Thread Rob Quill
Personally I prefer the non notification-daemon notifications. With
NotifyOSD Configuration it is possible to change the style (especially
text size, which seems to be much larger in the notification-daemon
notifications) and I can choose where the notifications appear using
gsettings set com.canonical.notify-osd gravity which doesn't seem to
be possible with the notification-daemon notifications.

[Bug 1130722] Re: [ffe] Restore a traditional menu under Unity

2014-02-28 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Hi Attila. The patch only enables the menubar when the Gtk/shell-shows-
menubar xsetting is set. That means, only on desktop environments that
show the menu bar outside of the application's window.

I don't think it is wise to check for the desktop environment to decide
whether to show the menu bar in the window or not (we'd need to do that
because we wouldn't want the menus in windows in gnome shell).

[Bug 1130722] Re: [ffe] Restore a traditional menu under Unity

2014-02-28 Thread Attila Hammer
Unfortunately the installable GNOME Flashback (Metacity) session doesn't
presenting too the new menu bar, so now affected sessions is GNOME Shell
Classic session and GNOME Flashback various sessions (Compiz and Metacity).
I don't no what happening other desktop environments (for example XFCE and
LXDE).
Testcase:
1. Enable universe and multiverse repositoryes, and install
gnome-session-flashback package.
2. Logout, and login the GNOME Flashback session (Metacity).
3. Launch Nautilus, and press the F10 key.
Expected result future if this is possible: need presenting restored
traditional menubar.
Actual result: the one column context menu presenting.

[Bug 1286103] [NEW] 14.04 installation does not install german keyboard

2014-02-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

I just tried the (beta release) of today's version of Ubuntu 14.04.

I used my PXE boot server and used the 14.04 pxe boot loader to install
the amd64 version into a virtual machine, running under virtualbox on
older ubuntu. I've selected xubuntu to install (which should be
irrelevant, since it seems to be a problem of the base os installation).

Although I've chosen the german version and ran through the usual
keyboard detection (which correctly found de nodeadkeys and correctly
setup /etc/default/keyboard), the system lacks german keytables and
comes up with english keyboards. The keyboard configuration in X11
(XFCE) also lists the english keyboard only.

Since the default settings of XFCE is to not use own keyboard tables but
those of the underlying system, X11 comes up with english settings as
well.

Overriding the system settings in XFCE's keyboard configuration allows
to manually select german keymaps, which work. But that's not the idea
and rather a workaround.

However, I did not yet figure out how to manually fix that the console
level Linux does not have the german keymap.

So it's not a problem of X11/XFCE. It is a problem of the console level
linux environment.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather
debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect BUGNUMBER
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality

[Bug 1286103] Re: 14.04 installation does not install german keyboard

2014-02-28 Thread Hadmut Danisch
ubuntu-bug does not work. It complains that gnome-control-center is not
installed and thus data cannot be collected.

Which is correct, as I said, I've installed xubuntu. And, I doubt that
it has anything at all to do with X11 and above, since - as I said - it
is a console problem. Why did you attach this to gnome-control-center?
This is wrong.

BTW, apport-collect does not work out of the box, the package python-
apport (and obviously a dependency) is missing.

[Bug 1286334] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in main_arena()

2014-02-28 Thread Erick Brunzell
Subsequent boots do not produce this error, so it's just a one time
thing upon logging into flashback w/metacity for the first time.
Therefore I think it should be considered a very low priority bug.

[Bug 1279272] Re: apparmor denies evince a chmod operation

2014-02-28 Thread henry
Additional information:
premise:
p1) I made a test changing the owner and group of the /tmp/at-spi2/ folder with
the user logged-in solve the problem. Maybe it was granted, but it tried anyway
p2) Evince seem to work fine, I never detected problems reading pdf file during
normal work. This error does not seem to affect the entire program operation.

Based on of my knowledge I have tried to verify the requirements requested by
Jamie Strandboge:
a1) the environment and /tmp/at-spi2/:
considering what I have discovered a way to change the environment connected to
the '/tmp/at-spi2/' is to define XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, but this variable is not
defined, the command env|grep XDG produce:

XDG_SESSION_COOKIE=023e99a7ae9aa1d1d49fde230008-1393614529.236409-511883369
  XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-gnome-shell:/etc/xdg

XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/gnome-shell:/usr/share/gnome:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/
  XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME
This is certainly not exhaustive but that's what I was able to discover about
this

a2) why is evince trying to chmod it?
I don't know the internal reasons of evince but this operation is always done
even when it is launched from the command without opening a pdf file directly.
I made an strace of evince launch from commnad line, a simple evince, and these
are the interesting lines:
...

[Bug 1286430] [NEW] Suspend option when lid closed greyed out in Power Settings

2014-02-28 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release:14.04

If this is the incorrect package, please redirect.

In power options for When the lid is closed no option is given except
for Do Nothing. Suspend is there, but unselectable. Suspend should
be a selectable option on laptop computers.

As expected, closing laptop lid merely locks the screen. However, since
Suspend cannot be selected, the option to suspend upon lid closing is
unavailable.

Expected: Suspend option selectable.
Happened: Suspend option not selectable.

[Bug 1263591] Re: Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout

2014-02-28 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
OK Dmitry and thank you for trying it,
but in my opinion if the ibus keyboard indicator is shown twice, that's an ibus
bug and not a gnome-panel bug,
and it should be solved by making that setting default to false:

$ grep systray /etc/dconf/db/ibus.d/00-upstream-settings
show-icon-on-systray=true

Also, none of those 2 keyboard indicators get updated when using the xorg
combination to switch keyboard layouts,
so they should be removed anyway and be replaced by something that works before
14.04 gets released,
it would be a major regression if the keyboard indicator is not working in an
LTS release...

What I mean is that ibus bugs shouldn't affect this one.
That said, if nm-applet and pidgin get fixed for 14.04, notification-area isn't

Re: [Bug 1263591] Re: Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout

2014-02-28 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
That is not two ibus indicators, that is one ibus indicator and one
keyboard-indicator. I don't think we should disable it, as users of other
DEs may need it.

[Bug 1263591] Re: Add notification-area to panel-default-layout.layout

2014-02-28 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
That said, if nm-applet and pidgin get fixed for 14.04, notification-
area isn't that important anymore...

I tried manually applying the patch for nm-applet, it works fine.
Pidgin works fine too, after playing a bit with its settings.
So yup notification-area isn't that important anymore.

Dmitry many gnome-panel bugs were fixed recently, thanks!

The only major blocker left for deploying 14.04 with gnome-panel now,
is the keyboard indicator not responding to xorg keyboard layout switches,
the rest issues left are either small ones or workarounds for them exist.
