[Bug 1207812] Re: iOS 7, Trust Prompt Looping
Thanks Matthias for offering the PPA and subscribing the Sponsors team! I've now tried to make a better git snapshot branch based on the current Ubuntu packaging branch. I can't do testing on my own since I don't have iDevices, so could you please give tests reports after doing the following: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:timo-jyrinki/libimobiledevice sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade (or the same graphically) In the PPA there's now a version 1.1.5+git20140313.bafe6a9e- 0ubuntu1~trusty1~test1, which is same as bzr22 in my Bazaar branch. This bug would need to be modified to follow the Feature Freeze Exception process: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_Exceptions - but one of the requirements for the exception consideration are test results, so let's get them first. -- If you want to downgrade later on, you can: sudo apt-get install ppa-purge sudo ppa-purge ppa:timo-jyrinki/libimobiledevice -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to libimobiledevice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207812 Title: iOS 7, Trust Prompt Looping To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libimobiledevice/+bug/1207812/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1287341] [NEW] Touchscreen controls both screens in dual-monitor setup
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My laptop has a touchscreen. It works fine in 14.04 until I plug in an external monitor. When using an external monitor, input from the touchscreen is remapped so that the touchscreen provides input to both monitors. The result is that there is no longer a 1:1 correspondence between moving your finger and the cursor. This is confusing and difficult to use. A touchscreen is a direct input device (vs an indirect one like a mouse/touchpad); input from the touchscreen should be bound to the physical display that it's attached to. To reproduce: 1) On a computer with a touchscreen, use the touchscreen to move a window around, including to the edges of the screen. Note that the window moves exactly with your finger. 2) Plug in an external monitor 3) Try the same actions as in step 1 Expected results: The touchscreen continues to operate as in step 1, allowing you to manipulate items on the display that contains the touchscreen. The touchscreen does not interact with windows, etc on the external monitor Actual results: The touchscreen is remapped across both displays. The result is that touch events no longer happen 'under the finger'. Assuming the two displays are the same size and resolution, moving your finger 1cm will cause the window or other objects to move 2cm onscreen. It becomes impossible to use the touchscreen to interact with widgets (menus, buttons, etc). This is described in couple places: http://askubuntu.com/questions/51445/how-do-i-calibrate-a-touchscreen-on-a-dual-monitor-system http://askubuntu.com/questions/71768/touchscreen-and-additional-external-monitor ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xinput 1.6.1-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-14.34-generic 3.13.5 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-14-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.13.2-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, commands, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Mar 3 14:41:14 2014 DistUpgraded: 2014-02-12 13:40:42,704 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistributionChannelDescriptor: # This is a distribution channel descriptor # For more information see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DistributionChannelDescriptor canonical-oem-somerville-precise-amd64-20130203-1 DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: oem-audio-hda-daily-lts-quantal, 0.201308192259~precise1, 3.5.0-45-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 4.3.6, 3.13.0-12-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 4.3.6, 3.13.0-14-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 4.3.6, 3.13.0-8-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:060a] InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-12-02 (90 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 Precise - Build amd64 LIVE Binary 20130203-13:50 MachineType: Dell Inc. I spent a couple days extremely disappointed to have a broken right [CTRL] key on a french keyboard on recent Arch installs, thus being unable to use VirtualBox properly, and googling around (and let me tell you that my googling showed me a *lot* of french people are really upset with this as well) I finally found out that this breakage comes from this commit : http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xkeyboard- config/commit/symbols/fr?id=518c769df2e9ce70cb721769a08b81504f243b2a ( http://goo.gl/SWU8Is ) Let me tell you that this breakage of right [CTRL], assigning it to ANOTHER function than right [CTRL] is completely inappropriate and upsetting. (In reply to comment #50) Could someone create poll on some french(belgian) web site, linux-oriented. Which behavior would be preferable? Is this even necessary? I mean, the change wasn't made in the first place because an user wasn't happy with the state, but because some apps couldn't handle it. And nowadays, at least some of those apps (Rhythmbox, Totem, …) have been fixed or altered in a way they do not suffer from it anymore, actually mostly nullifying the original point. Also, what a poll would do? This looks like a pretty subtle problem to me, and an uneducated user couldn't really tell. As far as they are concerned, I would think they just want everything working. Even me, if you ask I would say (as in my previous reply) just fix the XLookupString while keeping the original mapping, since IIUC it would fix everybody's issue. But I have no real clue whether it's a pertinent answer or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221112 Title: Can't use space bar in search bar when using french alternative keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libgnomekbd/+bug/221112/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 221112]
(In reply to comment #50) Could someone create poll on some french(belgian) web site, linux-oriented. Which behavior would be preferable? A poll would be pointless as its representativeness would be very hard to determine. Most users don't care as long as it works and may not even know there is a poll somewhere. The matter is : French keyboard have, and have always had since the PC keyboards exist (that makes 30 years), 2 similar [CTRL] keys that have the same printed label and are expected to exhibit the same behaviour. AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN SO IN ANY LINUX OR other OS keymaps, and especially default keymaps - if anybody wants to customize HER keyboard, then it's HER choice, but by no means a default. OTOH French keyboard have a left [Alt] key and a right [AltGr] keys having different labels and expected to have different roles. This is extremely clear. Both [CTRL] keys should act as [CTRL] keys. Left one, rigth one, period. Some softwares - such as Virtualbox - will want to use the left or right CTRL key for some specific role, and then it's printed in their documentation and the corresponding key is supposed to exist and be correctly mapped. It is nonsense to find oneself with a keymap in which some highly classical and standard key just doesn't happen to exist anymore just because of a once-upon-a-time existing issue (since solved) with a shortcut on a music player that nobody cares about !?!?!? You don't want to break a professional keyboard just because of arguable choices in a toy !

After add the input device, I called 'active_input_update', the input_bar could be adjusted. [Bug 1239087]
nrbrtx, I have Debian Wheezy (with some Sid), and Thunar filemanager. The paths in built udisks and udisks from repository differs. This solve the problem sudo cp /usr/local/etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.UDisks2.conf /etc/dbus-1/system.d/ But there is an another problem: $ udisksctl power-off -b /dev/sde Error looking up object for device /dev/sde The 'eject' option not available in Thunar with built udisks. sudo cp /usr/local/lib/libudisks2.so.0.0.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/libudisks2.so.0.0.0 And after reboot 'eject' became available in Thunar. This is my small test: 1. Seagate Portable. Filesystem - one big NTFS volume. Eject from Thunar - no power-off. Disable volume and then eject from Thunar - disk power-offs. Umount volume and udisksctl power-off -b /dev/sde also spin-down disk. 2. U3 flash. Filesystem - one big FAT32. Eject from Thunar - flash power-offs. 3. WD Passport. Filesystem - one big NTFS. Programmist11180, you can always detect which devices are connected with fdisk -l (called by root) or watch syslog on device connection. It seems that /dev/sde device does not exist.
