[Bug 1244087] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 Main Menu editor Problem
To move menu item from one submenu to another it is needed to know the name of destination submenu. It is in property Categories, i.e. Categories=Application;Development;Java;IDE. Desktop (.desktop suffix) files are located on two places: ~/.local/share/applications locally in your home and /usr/share/applications globally. Compare the both directories, find out appropriate files and synchronize them. I think, that they should be the same. In my case both files were identical, but in /usr/share/applications was attribute Hidden=true, so i remove it to be both files identical. The second case is, if the .desktop file is only in local menu. Check it and add Categories property if needed. Remove Hidden property or set it false. Check duplicities (many items has name alacarte-made-nn.desktop) check them, rename them, remove duplicities! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1244087 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 Main Menu editor Problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1244087/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

no, it's neither secure to run that much code (including GUI) under sudo right nor working right with the user session (the process run with another uid and with the wrong environment which means basic integration with the session components is going to fail working since there is not even a session for the user running the binary) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1235457 Title: nautilus exits when opened using sudo user and properties of a file/folder is opened To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1235457/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1295778] [NEW] Nautilus definitely needs to be repleced
Public bug reported: Now this is too much. I wanted to temporarily see a folder tree in TREE VIEW and I've found out that feature has been REMOVED. That's absolutely ridiculous. Who on earth, in his right mind, would decide to remove such a feature from a file browser, which was already implemented? This is one more proof, if any more was needed, that the development of Nautilus has (since a pretty long time ago now) taken a completely demential drift. Recent changes in Nautilus have all been for the worse: regressions, design decisions that can only be described as stupid, removal of obvious features without any benefit in exchange. The file browser is a pretty important part of an operating system. If Ubuntu wants to remain a usable operating system, it's urgent to drop Nautilus in favour of something else whose main developers upstream are not on drugs. [Bug 1295794] [NEW] nautilus opens a new window if clicked on its unity icon even when another nautilus window is open with ntfs drive folder open
Public bug reported: I could not make the title shorter and clearer, please forgive. How to reproduce this bug: On a freshly booted system running Ubuntu 14.04 having unity as its desktop-manager and having at least one NTFS partition on its internal hard disk, do the following: 1) Open a nautilus window and mount an NTFS partition and keep any of the folders on the NTFS partition open in this window. 2) Now open any other application(I opened firefox) and then go back to the nautilus window by pressing on nautilus' unity icon(which should have a small arrow to the left of the nautilus icon, indicating it is already open). Do not use Alt+Tab to go back to nautilus- this works fine. 3) This will open a new nautilus window with the home folder(or whichever is the default path to open when a new nautilus window is opened) and bring the originally opened folder on the NTFS partition. What I expected to happen? Clicking on an already opened nautilus window will open(bring to foreground) the folder on the NTFS partition. What actually happened? A new window with my home folder as its default opening path, opened, giving me two nautilus windows opened. lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1295220] Re: Images can't be viewed system-wide after libgtk3 update
1. How come the incompatible update was installed on my system? Doesn't Ubuntu automatically do incompatibility detection? No. Once you enable a PPA with untested software, you are on your own. 2. Why is gdk-pixbuf incompatible, if it is not in the list of the packages that were updated and thus caused this issue? Because glib2.0 changed things that gdk-pixbuf was depending on I would guess. 3. I already tried (prior to submitting this bug) to downgrade the packages I installed but had no luck. The reason is that package dependencies force me to remove hundreds of packages in my system that depend on the packages I want to downgrade. You can remove packages installed by a PPA with the ppa-purge command: $ sudo ppa-purge ppa:webupd8team/gvfs-libmtp I am closing this bug, since the problem is caused by incompatible software in a PPA. ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295220 Title: Images can't be viewed system-wide after libgtk3 update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1295220/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 246185 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246185 Stimpy, I came to a different conclusion from the upstream bug report. [Bug 1295925] [NEW] Rhythmbox displays the wrong album art
