[Bug 1301784] [NEW] cannot search text beginning with Alt(-gr) special character

2014-04-03 Thread Viili
Public bug reported:

background:
gedit 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
ubuntu 12.04

1. Open text file with Gedit
2. Hit CTRL-F to search
3. try to give i.e. @deco with finnish keyboard where the character '@' comes
from key combination AltGr + 2
expected: can enter text starting with special characters to search with into
the search box
result: search box closes when pressing Alt - and typing the text that was
intended for the search box ends up in the document itself.
workaround: copy-paste the search string into search box

2014-04-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if
somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software
by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

That change is buggy, without u-c-c-s you can't configure accounts for
publishing. Anyway I guess it's up to the GNOME remix to decide if they
want to ship buggy softwares by default...

[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04

2014-04-03 Thread Norbert
@Stephen M. Webb (bregma)
I do not think that this bug is fixed in Unity since the dependent bug 1280759
(Unity shortcuts (Super+A/F/M/C/V) do not work on non-latin layout in Trusty -
shortcuts are defined via keyboard layout, not the keys) is not fixed.
So bug 1226962 is not fixed in Unity.

[Bug 1301840] [NEW] USB PTP Camera not mounting in Xubuntu or Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2

2014-04-03 Thread Nick Rhodes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1296275 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296275

Public bug reported:

I have a Fuji digital camera which connects with USB and uses PTP.
It works fine in Xubuntu, Ubuntu and Kubuntu 13.10
In 14.04 beta 2 it works fine in Kubuntu, but not in Ubuntu or Xubuntu 14.04
beta 2, I cannot see the camera mounted in Nautilus/Thunar or Shotwell/gThumb.

In Ubuntu and Xubuntu 14.04 beta 2...
I can see the camera with lsusb.
With gphoto2 I can auto detect and list the files.
I suspect this issue is with GVFS as its used by Xubuntu and Ubuntu where the
problem occurs.

I am not at my play machine at the moment but can provide logs if
required later.

I also managed to reproduce the bug after logging into a guest account
(with all default settings). Minimum width of a Gedit window is 464
pixels and on save it is enlarged to 479 pixels.

The reason why I'm concerned with this is that I use a tiling window
manager where I want to have control over the size of all application
windows.

[Bug 384463] Re: Does not show up in applications menu (XUbuntu)

2014-04-03 Thread Iain Elder
Here is a the corresponding bug on the Gnome Bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=727473

The vino-preferences program is no longer included in the supported
versions of vino, 3.10 and 3.12.

The Ubuntu repository for Xubuntu 13.10 has only the unsupported version
3.6.

According to the David King, a vino developer, XFCE's lack of UI support
for vino prevents the vino team from officially supporting it.

Vino will support XFCE if we can integrate vino-preferences into the
XFCE settings dialog.

David suggested creating a new package for vino-preferences.

Perhaps the new package would contain some stuff to integrate it with
the XFCE settings dialog.

David King on Gnome Bugzilla:

vino-preferences was removed in 3.10 (it should have previously been in the
menus as Desktop Sharing):

https://git.gnome.org/browse/vino/commit/?id=328b2e46aef14b4204d3c20e0de40bd0a69b4229

The current stable version is 3.12, and until there is an equivalent
configuration UI (which could be a copy of vino-preferences split out to a
separate package) I do not see much point in adding any other desktop to the
autostart file.

[...]

There is code inside gnome-control-center to
configure Vino, which is rather different than vino-preferences. Similar code
would need to exist for a desktop environment before the autostart file would
be changed to add that environment.

Can we upgrade the package to a supported version?

What do we think of David's proposal?

[Bug 1201180] Re: Pressing power button turns off the PC ignoring the presence of another session manager

2014-04-03 Thread Martin Pitt
I think we should completely disable powerbtn.sh if logind is running;
that's much safer than trying to cover all session managers, and much
more correct too as logind itself handles the power button unless a
session manager inhibits it.

[Bug 1301882] [NEW] systemd-logind can get hung in cg_enumerate_tasks

2014-04-03 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

While looking into some leftover processes after session end, I
discovered that logind can get into a hung state. Here's roughly what I
did (sorry that I don't have exact steps)

1. Log in to unity, log out
2. ssh in
3. loginctl
4. loginctl session-status your closing session
5. log in, log out
6. loginctl session-status your new closing session
7. log in
8. loginctl (systemd-logind is hung at this point)

bt of loginctl while it's hung showing that it's going to timeout
waiting for a reply from logind over dbus

[Bug 384463] Re: Does not show up in applications menu (XUbuntu)

2014-04-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Can we upgrade the package to a supported version?

GNOME doesn't have supported version, even if we update to 3.12 next
cycle they are going to tell you there is a newer version and that this
version is unsupported

Note that we stayed on an old version for the reason that they dropped
vino-preferences in newer series, our version still has support for the
standalone configuration dialog so it can be used on other desktops than
gnome-shell

[Bug 1292412] Re: Keyboard layout is always English(!)

2014-04-03 Thread Rolf Leggewie
I believe I ran into this today after an update. Whenever I switch to
ibus the layout is English. The strange thing is that until yesterday
it was de as it should be. Since this bug has been present for some
weeks and I was updating regularly i wonder wonder if maybe I seeing
something else after all, though.

Some people were successful in resolving similar problems by removing
all ibus packages. Shahar, this is something you might want to try in
case you do not need ibus. Let us know if this resolves your issue.

[Bug 1301942] [NEW] screen display not saved after reboot

2014-04-03 Thread Jean-Sébastien Frerot
Public bug reported:

I have a DELL E6430 laptop with docking station. I can successfully
setup a 3 monitor extended desktop (1 built-in laptop monitor + 2
external monitor with DVI) using Screen Display control panel in
Ubuntu trusty. When I reboot the 3 monitors are activated but not in the
right order. They are mixed up. I have to change the settings again to
make it right but it's never *saved* as I have to do that at every boot.

2014-04-03 Thread amano
If you are at it, you could consider if you want to update VLC as well.
There has been an update to 2.1.3 at the end of February (Trusty ships
2.1.2): http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc-branch/NEWS

 * Fix a crash with the simple volume widget
 * Fix a crash in the audio menu building

 * Fix encrypted DVD playback

Those fixes sound like we would like to have them in the LTS.

[Bug 1302077] [NEW] Hardcoded css style checks on GTK Theme instead of XGD_CURRENT_DESKTOP

2014-04-03 Thread Leo Iannacone
Public bug reported:

Hi all!

In nautilus : debian/patches/ubuntu_titlebar_css.patch

you have defined some style override in order to fit (if I understood
correctly) nautilus in Unity window decoration.

But, instead to check if it's Unity the current window manager, you do
this:

+   settings = gtk_settings_get_default();
+   g_object_get(settings, gtk-theme-name, theme_name, NULL);
+
+   if (g_strcmp0(theme_name, Ambiance) == 0 || g_strcmp0(theme_name,
Radiance) == 0)

Which means: if you change theme in a Unity session, Nautilus will not
override style. And also: if you use those themes in any window manager,
nautilus makes the override.

You should check XDS_CURRENT_DESKTOP == 'Unity' instead to look for
which Theme is in use.

[Bug 1264102] [NEW] Does not play some files from a folder in samba share without a several minutes long delay even if Kaffeine plays them from there right away

2014-04-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The problem files are located in certain folder, whose name is music.
Files on other folders play fine. If I copy a problematic file to
another folder, it plays fine there, but not in the music folder. And
while it is trying to start to play the file, vlc does not respond, if I
order it to quit. Even killig by signal 1 or 15 fails, but I can kill it
by signal 2. It seems VLC can read the file; it can show media
information. After several minutes playback starts.

[Bug 1264102] Re: Does not play some files from a folder in samba share without a several minutes long delay even if Kaffeine plays them from there right away

2014-04-03 Thread Rémi Denis-Courmont
This is not a Samba share. This is a userspace filesystem that is
insanely slow at listing directory content. In other words, this is a
performance problem inside GVFS.

You should rather avoid GVFS. Either mount the SMB filesystem natively
(with kernel CIFS support), or supply VLC with the original smb:// URL.

Thanks for uploading the fix for this bug report to -proposed. However,
when reviewing the package in -proposed and the details of this bug

this bug is missing some of the following: a statement of impact, a test
case and details regarding the regression potential. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1302321] [NEW] Missing /lib/systemd/systemd-logind-launch (referred to by /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.login1.service)

2014-04-03 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Public bug reported:

The /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.login1.service
file in systemd-services contains

Exec=/lib/systemd/systemd-logind-launch

However, /lib/systemd/systemd-logind-launch doesn’t exist, because it’s
missing from debian/systemd-services.install. For some reason this
doesn’t seem to be causing obvious problems, but I thought you’d like to
know.

[Bug 1302326] [NEW] cannot shutdown/suspend/restart from the GUI after latest libpam-systemd update

2014-04-03 Thread Julien Aubin

Public bug reported:

Hi

On two different computers, the first one upgraded two weeks ago to
Trusty and the second one updated today after a Saucy fresh install, the
suspend/login/restart features are disabled again from the GUI.

Tests done :
When launching gdbus, error is :
julien@pcathlon64:~$ gdbus call -y -d org.freedesktop.login1 -o
/org/freedesktop/login1 -m org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.CanReboot
Erreur : GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Cannot launch
daemon, file not found or permissions invalid

When trying to reboot :
julien@pcathlon64:~$ gdbus call -y -d org.freedesktop.login1 -o
/org/freedesktop/login1 -m org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Reboot true
Erreur : GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Cannot launch
daemon, file not found or permissions invalid

However I got a new error :
administrateur@pcathlon64:~$ sudo /lib/systemd/systemd-logind
[sudo] password for administrateur:
(null):error.c:319: Assertion failed in nih_error_get: context_stack != NULL

[Bug 1302331] [NEW] org.freedesktop.login1.service references non-existant systemd-logind-launcher, gdm will not start

2014-04-03 Thread Mercury
Public bug reported:

debian/patches/debian-changes alters
systemd-204/src/login/org.freedesktop.login1.service to exec
/lib/systemd/systemd-logind-launch, instead of /bin/false.

systemd-logind-launch is in debian/, and the override_dh_install rule in
debian/rules does an install.

Sadly, systemd-logind-launch is not listed in systemd-services.install,
so it does not actually get built into the package.

The result is a Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 installation which will sit on the
booting screen indefinitely, with gdm refusing to start.

This was not happening in 204-5ubuntu13, and is happening in
204-5ubuntu16.

Manually copiing systemd-logind-launch from the source package to
/lib/systemd results in a booting system once more.

(Well, you could alawys switch VTs and login that way, but that is not
all that useful for most people.)

The correct fix appears to simply be adding lib/system/systemd-logind-
launch to debian/systemd/services.install in the source package.

Zephaniah E. Loss-Cutler-Hull.
