The only way I found to solve this problem is to install ccsm

$ apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

Open ccsm

$ ccms

General -> Commands (or Shortcuts (i don't know its name in your localization))
And set your shortcuts here.

[Bug 1241972] Re: Drag and drop from Dash to Desktop doesn't work

2014-04-23 Thread Cory
14.04 LTS- Where is the code for the drag and drop? If you drag and drop
an URL from a browser to quickly make a shortcut it automatically makes
a text file. However, you can make the URL an app shortcut on the
desktop from the file menu. Seems like the behavior can be altered
depending on where you are dragging text from; same as dragging an app
from a folder to the desktop.

Seems also that if you drag an application from the desktop to the
launcher it would turn into an launcher item. (a confirmation message in
between... or not)

... if only I were a bit smarter

This works just fine for me with bash too, with the default profile, no

In fact, I think I'll just wontfix the gnome-terminal bug before anyone

[Bug 1202159] Re: nautilus assert failure: ERROR:nautilus-bookmark.c:350:nautilus_bookmark_connect_file: assertion failed: (!nautilus_file_is_gone (bookmark->details->file))

2014-04-23 Thread Robert Ancell
Thanks Iain! I can reproduce this now.

The problem seems to be because the bookmark is being kept in the
history once it is closed. So when you "eject" the FTP bookmark nautilus
deletes the bookmark visually but keeps a reference to it for the
history. The bookmark keeps a reference to the NautilusFile for the FTP
location and this is marked as "gone".

When try and connect to this location again (or press back in the
history) it tries and create a new bookmark which then uses the cached
NautilusFile which is marked gone. Thus the assertion fails.

The solution I am currently trying to find is to remove the bookmark
from the history when it is ejected.

[Bug 1311911] [NEW] Append remote hostname to gnome-terminal title by default

2014-04-23 Thread Jorge O. Castro
Public bug reported:

The window matching in 14.04 is perfect for finding windows you think
you've lost. Sysadmins usually use a bunch of terminals, it would be
cool if Super-W then typing in a remote hostname would Just Work with
Unity's spread and searching.

To do this we need to set gnome-terminal's title when a person ssh'es to
a machine to have something like "jorge@remotehost" in the title. This
would allow the spread to search for those windows.

[Bug 1311737] Re: Shotwell crashes on launch

2014-04-23 Thread chrisedona...@gmail.com
I did a complete removal and re-install of shotwell and discovered that
the crash happens during import. I managed to turn off the auto-import
function before the program closed and now it doesn't crash anymore.
When I try to do a fresh import from my Pictures folder, it crashes
again. It's something to do with the importing, if that helps. I read
other bugs on here and noticed some mentioning the spike in memory usage
when scanning RAW files. Hope that helps.

[Bug 1244158] Re: GNOME: Modifiers Only keyboard layout switch have no effect

2014-04-23 Thread Haggai Eran
I believe I'm seeing the same bug in Ubuntu 14.04. I'm using Caps Lock to
switch layouts (set using gnome-tweak-tool). With the English layout:
$ setxkbmap -query
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: us,il
variant:,
options:grp:caps_toggle

And with the Hebrew layout:
$ setxkbmap -query
rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: il,il,us
variant:lyx,,
options:grp:caps_toggle

(Not sure if it should show two ils in the layout field).

After using Caps Lock to switch from English to Hebrew, further presses
only change the indicator, but the keyboard continues to type Hebrew
keys.

I have gnome-control-center version 3.6.3-0ubuntu56 installed.

This bug is present in ubuntu 14.04 when upgrading from ubuntu 13.10,
the first time you enter in your gnome-flashback account it will show
unity, to fix it, you have to start the session in metacity mode and
then again in gnome-flashback gnome-panel mode.

[Bug 1246272] Re: Keyboard layout changing randomly in 13.10 (saucy)

2014-04-23 Thread JockeTF
I can confirm this issue for Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.

It keeps switching keyboard layout to English even though I only have a
single Swedish keyboard layout in the input sources. I haven't been able
to see a pattern to the switching. It appears to be happening at random.

I use an external keyboard with my laptop. Messing around with the
settings via gsettings switches it back to Swedish temporarily.
Sometimes playing around with the input sources causes the system
settings window to freeze.

[Bug 1311788] [NEW] compiz lower window:Button5 stops working

2014-04-23 Thread Eric
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 14.04, compiz Lower Window key binding as alt+button5
is no longer working completely. It used to nicely cycle through windows
but now if a window surfaces that is scrollable, the 'lower window'
command stops responding and the window content starts scrolling
vertically even though the alt key is still pressed. Clicking the window
and then triggering 'lower window' again causes it to temporarily start
working again until another scrollable window surfaces.

This is configured under ccsm General Options->Key Bindings->Lower
Window.

It worked previously in 13.10. I have since tried unity-reset and
reverting all compiz settings.

Other settings:

Click To Focus: off
Raise On Click: on
Auto-Raise: off
Focus Prevention Level: Low

I tested a different plugin "Opacity, Brightness and Saturation" with
the same key binding Button5 and it does not demonstrate the same
behavior; I can tune any window opacity whether the window is scrollable
or not.

Setting the alternative Lower Window keyboard binding Down
works without the same interference.

[Bug 1311743] [NEW] Delay before compilation of any latex document in TeXmaker

2014-04-23 Thread Christophe
Public bug reported:

When you hit F1 or click on the compilation button in TeXmaker, whatever the
kind of compilation is chosen (latex or pdflatex), it takes 1 to 4 seconds
before the compilation actually happens. Sometimes, it causes the TeXmaker
window to fade out and then fade in again.
This happens on TeXmaker 4.1 in Ubuntu 14.04 and does not happen in TeXmaker

[Bug 1311734] [NEW] Gedit switches to grayscale font antialiasing when the text exceeds window size

2014-04-23 Thread PJSingh5000
Public bug reported:

Gedit switches to gray-scale font anti-aliasing when the text displayed does
not fit within the window.

To reproduce the bug:

(1) Select the following font settings:
Default font: Liberation Sans, 10
Document font: Liberation Sans, 10
Monospace font: Liberation Mono, 9
Window title font: Liberation Sans Bold, 10
Antialiasing: RGBA
Hinting:Medium
Text scaling factor:1.00

(2) Open gedit. (Optionally, make the window a little smaller so you
don't have to type so much in the next step).

(3) Type some text and notice that the font selections you made are
being used. (Take a screen-shot for reference).

(4) Continue typing more text, until the text no longer fits in the
gedit window's text area. The vertical overlay scroll bar will appear
at the right window edge (if you have text wrap enabled).

(5) Now that the text you typed does not fit within the gedit window,
notice that the text is no longer as smooth as before. (Take a screen-
shot for reference).

(6) Open and zoom into the screen shot from step 3, and then open and
zoom into the screen shot from step 5. Notice that the colored font
hinting (or anti-aliased font edges) that appearED in the screen-shot
from step 3 are no longer present in the screen-shot from step 5. The
fonts in the screen-shot from step 5 have gray antialiasing / hinting.

I have attached a screen-shots depicting this situation. The left side
of the screen shot shows gedit with good font antialiasing / hinting
(from step 3). The left side of the screen shot shows gedit with bad
font antialiasing / hinting (from step 5). I have also zoomed into the
letter "A" in each respective scenario, and pasted that into the image
to show how the font hinting / anti-aliasing changes when text does not
fit into the gedit window.

[Bug 1311737] [NEW] Shotwell crashes on launch

2014-04-23 Thread chrisedona...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

I fresh-installed 14.04 on my System 76 the other day and Shotwell
worked fine in the beginning, uploading all of my pictures from
(including tags and everything from the previous iteration). Now,
suddenly, when I open Shotwell, the progress bar shows for a second,
checking my photo directory, then opens perfectly for about 5-10
seconds. I'm able to browse and see my photos, no problem, but then the
program closes suddenly with no crash report. I have about 60GB of
photos, so perhaps my folder is too large? Everything seems to be

Colum,
After Blueman did its job, you have to activate the 'audio sink'
component, personally i leave both on.
-But- after that you can just go to the sound options and switch to
a2dp on the go, if blueman initiated audio sink, it will show up in
the options, no need to use the audio profile route.
Ofcourse resetting pulse audio is a req. also.
Currently i have a2dp on the ears and the mic on, at the same time,
because of this on the go switching in the sound options.
Its sad that Ubuntu doesnt use blueman or an implementation based on
it, this could be one of those 'it just works' scenarios, without
blueman it wont even pair my device...

Bug description:
  Hi,

  I found a bug in Ubuntu 14.04 !

I tried to pair a bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP compatible). The
pairing process goes well, but after that I can't select it on the
  audio preferences.

When I select it, it only shows the last selected item options and
don't do anything. (he should switch to the headset output).
I must mention that it worked very well on Ubuntu 12.04.

This bug can be in the bluetooth stack or in unity-control-center or
maybe pulseaudio. I actually have no idea.

[Bug 1311648] [NEW] Race in logind when closing laptop lid after clicking shutdown

2014-04-23 Thread Ivo Anjo
Public bug reported:

There seems to be a race condition between logind handling lid close and
shutting down the system.

Since installing Ubuntu 13.10 I was closing the laptop lid after
clicking shutdown, and sometimes when I came back the laptop was
suspended (during the shutdown sequence) and not off.

After seeing this info: http://askubuntu.com/questions/360615/ubuntu-
server-13-10-now-goes-to-sleep-when-closing-laptop-lid I neded up adding
the HandleLidSwitch=ignore to logind's configuration and never saw this
issue again.

Since this wasn't 100% reproducible I waited a while but since adding
that option I had 3 months with no issues.

See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-
manager/+bug/471457 , which talks of the same/similar issue, but the
issue must be in logind and not gnome-power-manager (which is not
running during the shutdown sequence).

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-04-23 Thread Colum Gaynor
@Omri Stein, @Akaname, @Kiori, @Joe D.

First some good news... There seems to be a simple workaround to restore
the highquality A2DP interworking to your Bluetooth headset.

1) Use Blueman to pair to the headset. My experience was that it will pair and
even connect as headset with the horrible audio
quality "Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP)" audio profile.
2) The Ubuntu Sound Control panel wont however show the Bluetooth device yet!
3) Open a command terminal and issue the command:pulseaudio -k
4) After a short delay you should see the Headset appear in the listed audio
devices of the Ubuntu Sound Control Panel
5) Select the device and connect some audio source (VLC Media or your favourite
player)... The quality will still be poor...
6) Now use Blueman GUI, select the device and press mouse right click and then
select the "Refresh Services".
It should show a succes message in the lower status bar.
7) Right click on the headset device in Blueman GUI and select Audio Sink. If
it displays a success message your in luck.
8) Now right click the headset device in Blueman GUI and select Audio Profile
menu and then select "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP)". It should suceed and
switch into the correct mode.

==> You will always have to issue the "pulseaudio -k" command from terminal
before using the headset, but it's a tolerable
work around.

Hope this works for you too. -Colum

[Bug 1278863] Re: package gnome-settings-daemon-schemas (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: tentative de remplacement de « /usr/share/GConf/gsettings/gnome-settings-daemon.convert », qui appart

2014-04-23 Thread caspar luc
For those who don't have aptitude or ppa-purge, the problem can be solved (in a
dirty way) by downloading the .deb package and installing it through the
command: dpkg --force-overwrite -i .
Removing gnome PPA had no effects for me, because they were already
automatically disabled through the do-release-upgrade command.
The suggested command will enable you to use apt-get again, but can be harmful
