[Bug 1376602] [NEW] Sync gucharmap 1:3.14.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-10-02 Thread Jackson Doak
Public bug reported:

Please sync gucharmap 1:3.14.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Upload from unreleased Debian SVN to fix FTBFS, should be a sync in
future.
  * Use dh_autoreconf to update libtool.m4 for new ports, and build with
--as-needed to obsolete debian/patches/99_ltmain_as-needed.patch. Thanks
to Colin Watson in Ubuntu.
Fixed in debian + new upstream translation release

Changelog entries since current utopic version 1:3.13.90-1ubuntu1:

gucharmap (1:3.14.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Iain Lane ]
  * Use dh_autoreconf to update libtool.m4 for new ports, and build with
--as-needed to obsolete debian/patches/99_ltmain_as-needed.patch. Thanks

[Bug 1376530] [NEW] GTK apps crashing with Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked

2014-10-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Attempting to run some GTK apps (e.g. pyrenamer) on 14.10 results in an
immediate crash, with the message Attempt to unlock mutex that was not
locked.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735428 seems to be the
relevant upstream bug, and there is a patch here:
https://github.com/GNOME/gtk/commit/79c3ff3c4ed74bbcc820dac2d5180fa4d48d55ec

To some extent, this seems to be the result of individual projects using
GTK incorrectly, and some fixes have been made to those individual
projects.

*However*, I am also seeing this bug occur in a closed source third
party application, Stata 13. As Emmanuele Bassi mentions in the Gnome
bug thread, there are probably a lot of applications out in the wild
affected by the same issue, that in some cases cannot be fixed, so it
would be good if a fix could be included in the versions of GTK that
Ubuntu ships.

While I was working on a packport of this feature I have discovered a
bug in the gtk printing backends (affects series 2 and 3) that may cause
random crashes due to buffer overflow.

I have reported the issue upstream and am working on backports to utopic

I looked over the last 40+ reports on errors.ubuntu.com and none of them
are from the long running tests.

I'll try to see if I had any failures in the long running tests to get
additional log files on what is happening when this is reported.

[Bug 1376776] [NEW] Sound panel's input selection resets the default on every invocation

2014-10-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

Every time I open gnome-control-center, it resets my default audio
source in pulseaudio.

$ pacmd info | grep Default.source
Default source name:
alsa_input.usb-046d_081b_4D515DC0-02-U0x46d0x81b.analog-mono

[Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2014-10-02 Thread netikras
Affects Linux Mint Petra as well. I'm on Samsung NF-210.

Issuing 'init 6' seems to kill processes and hung at blank screen. This
actually has started quite a while ago.. 1 year ago. Then I used to
notice this problem when hibernating with 's2disk' or 's2both' after
using computer for a while (never occurred on a fresh boot). It used to
fail to poweroff (although succeeded to dump the image) then too, but I
decided it's simply because there are too many applications open and
there's simply not enough of swap memory to store the image, or
something like that... However a few weeks ago 'init 6' started to fail
as well as simple shutdown...

Dunno if this could be related, but samsung-tools started to fail in re-
enable wifi after waking up the OS from SLEEP (s2ram).

[Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI

2014-10-02 Thread netikras
umm just forgot to mention.. When it turned into zombie (almost
dead) after attempt to hibernate I had to poweroff it manually with the
button. After powering it on again fresh OS used to boot instead of the
hibernated image (although uswsusp claimed image is saved at 100%). So I
believe it's OS preventing computer from powering-off...

1. open system settings
2. select security and privacy

4. toggle location access off and on a few times
5. enable the location access in the indicator
5. open the camera app

expected result:
location allow deny dialog opens in camera app

went through the welcome wizard without wifi and when I checked

Hello Stephan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libgweather into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgweather/3.10.2-0ubuntu2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in

[Bug 1332721] Re: Add patch to allow toolbar dragging

2014-10-02 Thread Adam Smith
Hi Iain, I'm sorry it didn't work. As noted in comment 3, you also have
to edit your gtk2 theme - did you do this?

I can't give you a debdiff at the mo, but all you just need to do is
remove the 062_dnd_menubar.patch and replace it with my patch.

[Bug 1376978] [NEW] laptop suspends even if the settings says to Do Nothing when the lid is closed

2014-10-02 Thread Michael Tinsay
Public bug reported:

Settings indicate to Do Nothing when the display lid is closed for
both On Battery and On AC Power. But it seems that this setting is
being ignored whether I'm on battery or on AC power.

This seems to be a regression.

[Bug 1051442] Re: Rhythmbox doesn't subscribe when called with iptc url

2014-10-02 Thread NoBugs!
What do you mean by report a wishlist? I'm on a 12.04 machine right
now, and it all works:

Choosing Rhythmbox when a podcast is open in Firefox (immediately opens
Rhythmbox and subscribes the feed).

Choosing Add to Podcast Manger in Tunesviewer immediately opens
Rhythmbox and subscribes the feed.

Running rhythmbox itpc://www.oneplace.com/ministries/let-my-people-
think/subscribe/podcast.xml immediately opens Rhythmbox and subscribes
the feed.

All three of these methods fail in the latest 14.04, so this is a
regression.

[Bug 1051442] Re: Rhythmbox doesn't subscribe when called with iptc url

2014-10-02 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
We could open a new report upstream, but from what I understood from
the linked upstream bug, the developers of Rhythmbox think that the
current behavior is what it should be and they see no reason to change
it. That's why I say it could be asked if they would consider
(re)introducing this feature.

[Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)

2014-10-02 Thread Eugene San
ruediger.kupper:
Acceleration check can be skipped by passing --disable-acceleration-check to
gnome-session

chris-good:
I might be wrong but by 3D acceleration, VM hypervizors usually mean H/W 3D
offloading to host GPU.
Also usually VM para-virtualized drivers support direct rendering and all most
X11 extensions which can be used by Mesa (pure software or LLVM-pipe) to
simulate 3D.
Regarding Unity, it uses Compiz which also supports Mesa simulated 3D (at least
in recent versions).
Environments like NX/VNC/RDP and etc, usually lack direct rendering and most
X11 extensions therefor 3D simulation is broken.
It's sad that this fact is ignored by distributions and desktop environments
developers and we are enforced to deal with it here :-(
