[Bug 1376530] [NEW] GTK apps crashing with Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Attempting to run some GTK apps (e.g. pyrenamer) on 14.10 results in an immediate crash, with the message Attempt to unlock mutex that was not locked. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735428 seems to be the relevant upstream bug, and there is a patch here: https://github.com/GNOME/gtk/commit/79c3ff3c4ed74bbcc820dac2d5180fa4d48d55ec To some extent, this seems to be the result of individual projects using GTK incorrectly, and some fixes have been made to those individual projects. *However*, I am also seeing this bug occur in a closed source third party application, Stata 13. As Emmanuele Bassi mentions in the Gnome bug thread, there are probably a lot of applications out in the wild affected by the same issue, that in some cases cannot be fixed, so it would be good if a fix could be included in the versions of GTK that Ubuntu ships. [Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI
Affects Linux Mint Petra as well. I'm on Samsung NF-210. Issuing 'init 6' seems to kill processes and hung at blank screen. This actually has started quite a while ago.. 1 year ago. Then I used to notice this problem when hibernating with 's2disk' or 's2both' after using computer for a while (never occurred on a fresh boot). It used to fail to poweroff (although succeeded to dump the image) then too, but I decided it's simply because there are too many applications open and there's simply not enough of swap memory to store the image, or something like that... However a few weeks ago 'init 6' started to fail as well as simple shutdown... Dunno if this could be related, but samsung-tools started to fail in re- enable wifi after waking up the OS from SLEEP (s2ram). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987220 Title: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-session/+bug/987220/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when Shut Down chosen from GUI
umm just forgot to mention.. When it turned into zombie (almost dead) after attempt to hibernate I had to poweroff it manually with the button. After powering it on again fresh OS used to boot instead of the hibernated image (although uswsusp claimed image is saved at 100%). So I believe it's OS preventing computer from powering-off...

[Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)
ruediger.kupper: Acceleration check can be skipped by passing --disable-acceleration-check to gnome-session chris-good: I might be wrong but by 3D acceleration, VM hypervizors usually mean H/W 3D offloading to host GPU. Also usually VM para-virtualized drivers support direct rendering and all most X11 extensions which can be used by Mesa (pure software or LLVM-pipe) to simulate 3D. Regarding Unity, it uses Compiz which also supports Mesa simulated 3D (at least in recent versions).
