[Bug 1168742] [NEW] Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In 13.04, disks (DVDs, CDS) are not unmounted when ejected via the hardware button on the drive. After ejecting disks via the hardware button, an entry for the disk still shows up in the file manager, and shows when I run df. If I do a soft eject (ie from the right click menu from the icon on the launcher), however, everything works properly. Just as a note, as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Hardware_Malfunctions, I attempted to report this using ubuntu-bug storage, however there is not an option dealing with unmounting devices, and clicking other tells you that you should run ubuntu-bug again with a specific package name. In an attempt to get this to a semi-relevant audience, I ended up just saying that a disk wasn't auto-mounted, clicking through the next few popups, and ended up here. If this isn't the right place to report this bug, I apologize. [Bug 1168742] Re: Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used
There is no robust way how udisks could do this, but on the upstream systemd list we discussed how to do this cleanup under systemd. For udev under upstart there is a hack to call eject instead of cdrom_id --eject in the udev rule for the eject request, but this relies on udev not running under an unshared mount namespace (i. e. a patch we have in Debian/Ubuntu). I'll look into fixing this the proper way. ** Package changed: udisks2 (Ubuntu) = systemd (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Summary changed: - Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used + [udev] Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168742 Title: [udev] Disks are not unmounted when physical eject button is used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1168742/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug by Masoud Kazemi (mkazemi73): In nautilus, when I go to Edit - Preferences - Display - icon captions, and change the highest order (first one) from None to Type (or anything else), this change is not applied to desktop icons and nothing happens to them. And when I set it back to None, Type captions (or whatever I selected at first) appear under desktop icons. This problem only occurs for desktop icons. It works fine for icons in other directories. [Bug 1415653] [NEW] 14.10 incorrect behavior for suspend when inactive
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Assume that Suspend when inactive for values in System Settings / Power are set to 5 minutes and Don't suspend for columns On battery power and When plugged in. Now assume that the system has been plugged in and inactive for 6 minutes. Finally, assume that the system becomes unplugged. In Ubuntu 14.04, the system does not suspend. The 5 minute countdown to automatic suspend begins when the unplug event occurs, such that the timeout event occurs 5 minutes later. This behavior is correct. In Ubuntu 14.10, the system automatically suspends immediately after the unplug event occurs. This behavior is incorrect. Or minimally, this behavior is undesired in the normal case. The 5 minute timeout was intended to protect against battery energy being drained during a continued period of the system being inactive AND unplugged. In this case, in contrast, the period of the system being unplugged just began. There has been no continued period of the system being inactive AND unplugged. This difference represents a regression in functionality for the 14.04 to 14.10 upgrade. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- 14.10 incorrect behavior for suspend when inactive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415653 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1277180] Re: dotted rectangles remain drawn in window after copying a bunch of files
Almost a year and no response from anybody?? This happens quite often (though not systematically) and it's terribly annoying. ** Description changed: I copyed a bunch of files from a Nautilus window into another by Ctrl+dragging and dropping them. Both windows were set with icons visualization, so when I (ctrl)dragged and dropped the icons, dotted rectangles were drawn and dragged, as expected. However, after dropping the files, which were succesfully copied, the dotted rectangles should have disappeared, but they remained, as if printed on the destination window. Neither by moving, nor by minimizing and remaximizing the window, could I get rid of the spurious dotted rectangles. Even while navigating to other folders, the dotted rectangles stay there. Even after resizing the window. Despite the contents of the window being redrawn and updated, the dotted rectangles are still there, and they move around while I move around the window, as if they were part of its contents. The only way to have them disappear is to completely close the window. - Obviously this is not systematically reproducible. This doesn't happen - often. Don't expect to be able to reproduce it by ctrl+dragging icons - from a window to another. 99.99% of the times this won't happen. + Obviously this is not systematically reproducible.
