[Bug 1227440] Re: Nautilus' Format option doesn't actually work

2015-03-06 Thread Doug McMahon
Not fixed at all based on bug description, does anyone pay attention anymore??
Only a volume that is unmounted will get the 'format' option in nautilus. As
far as removable volumes like usb 'sticks' there is no option in nautilus to
unmount so consequently no format option

The only way to get this is to disable automount which then also
disables autoplay of optical media. (and once mounted no means within
nautilus to unmount

[Bug 850649] Re: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy

2015-03-06 Thread Mateusz Gryzzli
For all nvidia users, you could try to remove the GL cache:

rm ~/.nv (driver 346)
rm ~/.cache/.nv (driver 346)

Then disable the cache completely:

echo -e 'export __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE=0' ~/.profile

Restart / relogin afterwards. This fixed the issue for me.

[Bug 1429143] [NEW] Slow shutdown after booting with systemd

2015-03-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When running vivid booted with systemd kernel, shutdown consistently
takes around 90 seconds. With the normal kernel it is about 15 seconds.

In the log, shutdown started (from the cog) at 13:50:20, Mar 6th. The
purple Ubuntu screen with dots appears after a few seconds and then sits
there. It actually powered off at 13:51:55.

[Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback/Unity fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)

2015-03-06 Thread Ryan Tandy
I am happily running GNOME Flashback with the FreeNX server, and nx-libs
from the X2Go stable PPA, on multiple Trusty terminal servers and it has
been quite stable. The gnome-session --disable-acceleration-check option
is needed, and also bug 1416081 has to be fixed to stop unity-settings-
daemon from crashing. I have uploaded all the necessary patches to
ppa:rtandy/flashback and attached them to these bugs. In the PPA I also
patched gnome-session-flashback to use --disable-acceleration-check, but
it's not really necessary -- just for symmetry :).

Attached is the FreeNX config file I use. Note it relies on the Upstart
session job to pass --disable-acceleration-check to gnome-session. For
X2Go, /usr/bin/x2goruncommand has to be adjusted similarly; I will
follow up to their tracker (http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=774) soon.

I hope these patches can be considered for vivid, and maybe for
trusty/utopic SRU as well. Thanks for reading!

[Bug 1429248] [NEW] gedit crashes frequently - every 10min or so

2015-03-06 Thread Tim K
Public bug reported:

Here's the trace:

$ gedit

(gedit:20735): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gedit' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'.
  (Details: serial 23634806 error_code 16 request_code 18 (core protocol)
minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Re: [Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback/Unity fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)

2015-03-06 Thread Michael Plotkin
Thank you Ryan for helping to resolve this problem. I've been waiting
anxiously for this problem being fixed because it's the main reason I
cannot start using 14.04 (and have to use 12.04) on a lot of systems.

I have a question - do you see any problems using original NX software
with this solution. For mostly historical reasons I've been using original
NX software (NX 3 from NoMachine) and have their client software
installed on quite a few computers.

Thank you,
Michael.

[Bug 902128] Re: Please transition gtk engines to multiarch

2015-03-06 Thread Sergio Callegari
I guess there is no hope for this. Still present in utopic.

Installing a gtk 32 bit application on a 64 bit ubuntu system gives tons
of warnings about the wrong elf class (ELFCLASS64) for the engine and
the applications shows completely unstyled.

I see this with the nodoka engine.

Furthermore, trying to install the 32 version of the engine causes the
64 bit version of the engine to be uninstalled and viceversa because
without multiarch they conflict with each other.

Plus there have been tons of duplicates not marked as such, one for each
possible engine, at times even leading to a solution.

For instance,
