@Raphael: Of course we want a consistent behavior in all applications. Since you mention pt_PT, it should be noted that the commit I just made affects pt_BR only. Possibly there is a reason to do the same for pt_PT, but I think it needs to be discussed first. Added a libX11 task to remember it. On 2015-04-01 02:47, Raphael das Neves Calvo wrote: Previous versions and flavors don't need to be fixed, IMHO. Focus on the next release because we already have workarounds for the previous releases. [Bug 1439231] [NEW] fcitx breaks X11 compose
Public bug reported: In order to meet the expectations by Brazilian Portuguese users (see bug #518056), the libx11-data package provides the file /usr/share/X11/locale/pt_BR.UTF-8/Compose. So if LC_CTYPE is set to pt_BR.UTF-8, either explicitly or inherited from LANG, typing '+c results in the ç character. This works when the IM framework is IBus or none (the latter is really xim), but if you switch to fcitx, it fails, i.e. '+c' gives ć. This makes me fear that fcitx somehow breaks X11 compose. Considering that there is a discussion about making fcitx the default IM framework for all users in 15.10, I think this a matter of high priority. ** Affects: fcitx (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to fcitx in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439231 Title: fcitx breaks X11 compose To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fcitx/+bug/1439231/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1439301] [NEW] one autopkgtest failure since 219-5ubuntu1
Public bug reported: One autopkgtest fails since 219-5ubuntu1. This one checks that plymouth is started around the same time than fsckd, and that fsckd/fsck doesn't fail if plymouth crashes. The issue comes from debian/patches/v219-stable, which is a backport of http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd-stable/log/?h=v219-stable branch (until 16 march). The culpurit commit is http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd- stable/commit/?h=v219-stableid=b238b0eaf71449e128480bb5a5875a4b51cafd6f. What happens is that: - systemd-hwdb-update.service is After=systemd-remount-fs.service (so once fsck runs) - udev is thus started later on - plymouth-start.service is After=systemd-udevd.service. So fsck runs on root FS before udev is up, and so plymouth, the whole boot sequence is delayed. We have multiple options: - changing the test to get that use case tested in other ways (in ubuntu, plymouth is started from the initramfs) - reintroduce the change if we see that udev being started way later is an issue. Attaching 2 journald boot logs, where we can see the differents time (once with udev/plymouth starting earlier than the other one). ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: systemd-boot ** Attachment added: normal-boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439301/+attachment/4363164/+files/normal-boot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439301 Title: one autopkgtest failure since 219-5ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1439301/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1439309] [NEW] Use the new desktop shortcut for Nautilus in Applications menu
Public bug reported: In 15.04, Nautilus' desktop name was changed from nautilus.desktop to org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop. Currently, org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop is set as NoDisplay=true and nautilus.desktop isn't, meaning that the old shortcut appears in the Unity menu instead of the new shortcut. This also means that when you remove the default Nautilus icon from favorites and re-add it by dragging the icon from the Installed Applications section in the Unity menu, the window matching won't work properly. You'll get a separate file icon that pops up whenever you launch it. [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
Concerning the pt_PT: The portuguese from Portugal, although it has its differences relative to brazilian portuguese, has the same accents and it also requires the cedilla the same way, so I suspected that they had the same problem. I checked, then, the existence of the same tipe of claim in forums from Portugal, using Google (https://www.google.pt/?gws_rd=ssl#q=cedilha+ubuntutbs=ctr:countryPTcr=countryPT). Indeed, we can find exactly the same problem for them. Although, as Portugal has 5% the population of Brazil, the number of posts is much smaller. Therefore, I think that the fix for this problem should be applied to pt_PT too. And, if there is any other variation of portuguese (I am not sure if there is one for Angola, Moçambique, etc.), they all sould be fixed. Re: [Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback/Unity fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)
Did reasonably extensive testing last night of the proposed fix for Trusty. I believe that my results are very similar to Xavier: after I installed all updates related to this bug from trusty-proposed repository (pre-released) I couldn't start remote X2go session at all. In /var/log/messages I found information about segfault in libgnome-desktop-3-7: Apr 1 05:17:12 marina-net /usr/bin/x2goruncommand: launching session with Xsession-x2go mechanism, using STARTUP=gnome-session --session=gnome-flashback --disable-acceleration-c\ heck Apr 1 05:17:20 marina-net kernel: [ 1747.973711] gnome-session[7806]: segfault at 18 ip 7fc4c3952196 sp 7fff7f38a820 error 4 in libgnome-desktop-3.so.7.0.0[7fc4c393+3\ 1000] It appears that libgnome-desktop-3-7 wasn't update since July of 2014 and its version was 3.8.4-0ubuntu3. So I installed updates from ppa:rtandy/flashback repository according to Xavier instructions, which includes updating libgnome-desktop-3-7. After update the version of libgnome-desktop-3-7 became 3.8.4-0ubuntu4. Actually it updated 16 other packages as well at that time. After this update everything began working very well. So my conclusion is that the fix in the trusty-proposed repository as it stands there right now is not helpful at all, but the version in ppa:rtandy/flashback repository works fine. Thank you, Michael. On 01.04.15 03:30, Xavier wrote: thanks for the info (and your work, all) to fix this issue and provide workarounds in the meantime.
