[Bug 1478235] [NEW] Improve Power Consumption

2015-07-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

it would be nice if there would be a lower power consumption. A lot of
people use tlp, maybe its possible to include some things directly into
Ubuntu?

http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-linux-advanced-power-management.html

thanks

[Bug 1478331] [NEW] gcalctool binary is missing from the package in 14.04

2015-07-26 Thread Gil Shwartz
Public bug reported:

In 12.04 the gcalctool package includes a binary by that name. The 14.04
package seem to only include doc files and not the actual program itself
(nor man pages). This seems like a regression.

Launch calculator using the XF86Calculator key uses this command. It
worked just fine in 12.04 but fails in 14.04.

[Bug 1478364] [NEW] invalid session being saved

2015-07-26 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

When I log out of my desktop I get some files in ~/.config/gnome-session
/saved-session/, pressumably the saving of my session so that it can be
restored on next login.

But on next login I get an error from gnome-session:

env: unrecognized option '--sm-client-id'
Try 'env --help' for more information.
...
gnome-session[9609]: WARNING: Application 'gnome-panel.desktop' failed to
register before timeout
gnome-session[9609]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry

and the session aborts. Investigation leads to the following:

$ cat ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/gnome-panel.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Panel
Comment=Launch other applications and provide various utilities to manage
windows, show the time, etc.
Icon=gnome-panel
Exec=env --sm-client-id 1037b9c00525f898c41437926147603637010179
XDG_MENU_PREFIX=gnome-flashback- gnome-panel
Terminal=false
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Bugzilla=GNOME
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Product=gnome-panel
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Component=general
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Version=3.8.0
Categories=GNOME;GTK;System;Core;
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;
NoDisplay=true
X-GNOME-AutoRestart=true
X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Panel
X-GNOME-Provides=panel

X-GNOME-Autostart-startup-id=1037b9c00525f898c41437926147603637010179

Clearly the env --sm-client-id is causing this problem. But why is
gnome-session saving this incorrect .desktop file for the session?

This is gnome-session-3.9.90-0ubuntu12.1 on Ubuntu Trusty.

[Bug 1478364] Re: invalid session being saved

2015-07-26 Thread Brian J. Murrell
As you will notice, upstream closed this bug OBSOLETE with the
explanation:

Version 3.9 is an ancient unstable development version and not supported
anymore by GNOME developers. GNOME developers are no longer working on that
older version, so there will not be any bug fixes by GNOME developers for the
version that you use.

So looks like it's on you Ubuntu/Canonical to fix this as this is a bug
in an LTS release.

[Bug 1478386] [NEW] zenity's option to render html does not work

2015-07-26 Thread sudodus
Public bug reported:

Zenity was updated a few days ago. Until then there was a bug with
--checkbox, which is fixed now :-) But another bug was introduced:
zenity's option to render html does not work. A similar bug was squashed
in OpenSuse last year, and is still there in Fedora and Centos. But
--html works in all versions of the Ubuntu flavours from 12.04 LTS
'Precise' to 15,04 'Vivid', and worked in 'Wily' until this last update
of/to zenity 3.16.3.

The error output states:

This option is not available. Please see --help for all possible
usages.

The bug that was fixed last year was fixed in OpenSuse by compiling with
WebKit. Maybe that works also now, maybe another tool is necessary now
to add capability for html with the option --html.

Arx Cruz knows which tool to use (if no longer WebKit).

You can run the following bash shell-script to test if it works or not.
-
#!/bin/bash

echo h1HTML headline/h1
Hello World | zenity --text-info --html --filename=/dev/stdin \
--width=$(($wadd+640)) --height=$(($hadd+400)) \
--title $btitle \
--ok-label=Go --cancel-label=Quit \

2015-07-26 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test.  Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1475038] Re: Totem fails to start as libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-vivid is not installed

2015-07-26 Thread Doug McMahon
The issue here may be that vivid libegl1-mesa-drivers is a dummy transitional
package. So there is no libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-vivid package.
This would cause some sources to be ftbfs in 14.04.3, likely 1st. block of -
libcogl15 : Depends: libegl1-mesa-drivers

If libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-vivid is manually added to image or made a dep of
affected the runtime should be ok (though the sources would remain ftbfs.
Maybe a dummy libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-vivid would do?? (no clue here...
