[Bug 1588600] [NEW] Not enough preloading
Public bug reported: The pages that I leave by scrolling on a new page quickly disappear. When I scroll up again it takes too much time to see them appear again. Although the program should be intelligent enough to know that it's just a matter of time that I like to switch to the linked pages. It also takes too much time for the next page to load scrolling down. It is extremely annoying, causing irritation and breaking the workflow. If it's a feature to save RAM: the document has a size of 616kb and I guess it would be pathetic to save them when I have 32 gigs of RAM and 8 gigs of VRAM... I think that everything below 10MB can clearly be preloaded when the document get's opened and stay in RAM until one closes the document. Even when the computer is far behind the times. [Bug 378783] Re: xdg-open *.desktop opens text editor
re: comment #15 In Kubuntu 16.04, xdg-open is a bash script that determines your desktop environment (starting with the value of $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP) and calls the file opener for that desktop. For XFCE that appears to be exo-open. So run exo-open in debug mode to see what's going on. > xdg-mime query default application/x-desktop This outputs "wine-extension-txt.desktop" in my Kubuntu 16.04 desktop, so `xdg-open /path/to/some.desktop` grinds away and eventually starts Notepad in Wine! After I renamed $HOME/.local/share/applications/wine- extension-txt.desktop to ..._DISABLED, that command outputs "org.kde.kate.desktop" and so the file opens in the Kate editor. As I understand it, our desktops don't have a .desktop file volunteering to handle the mime type application/x-desktop. The `/usr/share/mime/application/x-desktop.xml` file that associates the extension .desktop file with application/x-desktop also says it's , and that's why desktops end up running the application that handles text files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378783 Title: xdg-open *.desktop opens text editor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gvfs/+bug/378783/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1588395] [NEW] 70gconfd_path-on-session doesn't quote DESKTOP_SESSION and fails if it contains a space
Public bug reported: In /etc/X11/Xsession.d/70gconfd_path-on-session these lines fail if there is a space in ${DESKTOP_SESSION}: export MANDATORY_PATH=${GCONF_PREFIX}/${DESKTOP_SESSION}.mandatory.path export DEFAULTS_PATH=${GCONF_PREFIX}/${DESKTOP_SESSION}.default.path The error output to ~/.xsession-errors is: /etc/X11/Xsession: 6: export: Session.mandatory.path: bad variable name I'm not sure why the error is pointing to the wrong file. Adding quotes around the variables in those lines makes the error go away. This error totally prevents logging into X. It happens when using LXDM to start Xfce, because LXDM sets DESKTOP_SESSION to Name from /usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop : Name=Xfce Session These LXDM bugs relate to the problem, but I guess the lack of quoting here is the root cause. I'm not sure if setting DESKTOP_SESSION to the Name from the .desktop file and having a space in it is wise, but everything seems to work after fixing the quoting. [Bug 1588240] Re: crash on startup
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. The snap backend isn't getting info from the debs and indeed snapd is notproviding all the info needed for a good experience (like the license or screenshots), also I'm unsure the snap store has reviews yet ** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588266 Title: Almost no info about Krita snap in Ubuntu Software To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1588266/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1588266] [NEW] Almost no info about Krita snap in Ubuntu Software
Public bug reported: Krita 3.0 was released [1] and it was packaged as a snap which is available in Ubuntu Software. However, when a user looks for "krita" in Ubuntu Software, (s)he will find one package without an icon, without screenshots, without user reviews... and with a scary "non-free" warning box. See attached screenshot. Krita has been around for a while and the previous versions were available in the repo, so I'm sure there used to be an icon, some user reviews and probably some screenshots as well :) [1] https://krita.org/item/krita-3-0-released/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: ubuntu-software 3.20.1+git20160426.1.a976144-ubuntu-xenial-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-22.40-generic 4.4.8 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: kpatch_livepatch_Ubuntu_4_4_0_22_40_generic_7 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Jun 2 18:00:34 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-25 (38 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) SourcePackage: gnome-software UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial ** Attachment added: "krita_ubuntu_software.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588266/+attachment/4675102/+files/krita_ubuntu_software.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588266 Title: Almost no info about Krita snap in Ubuntu Software To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1588266/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1588230] [NEW] systemd-resolved uses domain limited DNS servers for all requests potentially a privacy issue
Public bug reported: When configuring a DNS server for a link for specific domains (via the Domains= ~foo syntax) systemd-resolved correctly routes requests for those domains to that DNS server. However even without ~. on the list it also routes all other requests there (and in parallel to the primary servers) appearing to pick the fastest responder. This (to my mind) represents a privacy issue as requests that that DNS server is not intended to see are routed there. I would have expected the ~. syntax to allow me to request this behaviour and in its absence to not see general requests routed to these servers. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588230 Title: systemd-resolved uses domain limited DNS servers for all requests potentially a privacy issue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1588230/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1588229] [NEW] systemd-resolved generated resolve.conf gets comment spam with high numbers of seach domains
Public bug reported: When a large number of search domains are configured in a *.network file the auto-generated /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf file is spammed with commentary for each and every dropped search term. # This file is managed by systemd-resolved(8). Do not edit. # # Third party programs must not access this file directly, but # only through the symlink at /etc/resolv.conf.
