Inspecting log files I find what to me looks like a bad recursion in

[Bug 1640292] [NEW] Cannot access files on Samsung Galaxy Tablet with 16.10

2016-11-08 Thread Marius Groenewald
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 16.10.

I cannot access files on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, which is connected via USB
cable. The cellphone
icon do appear in the Dash side panel, and SAMSUNG Android appears in Nautilus
under the left window panel. On the right-hand side window panel the hard-drive
icon appears with the label "Tablet". When I double-click on it to open, it
thinks for a long time and then bombs out with a message stating that it cannot
show the contents and "libmtp error: could not get object handles."

Nautilus do indeed connect to my Samsung Grand Neo Plus cellphone, and I
can see its contents.

I can't understand why one Linux distribution can't read another Linux
distribution. After all, Android is Linux-based, right?

Please help.

[Bug 1640293] [NEW] Backport graphical-session{, -pre}.target to xenial

2016-11-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

Ted Gould and Dimitri Ledkov requested that the graphical-
session{,-pre}.target user units introduced in yakkety should be
backported to xenial, so that snapd units can use them.

At the moment they will *not* be used by default by any desktop session
in xenial, so they will stay inert. The net effect is solely to ship
those two new unit files.

TEST CASE: Verify that these two new units exist in the -proposed
version:

  /usr/lib/systemd/user/graphical-session-pre.target
  /usr/lib/systemd/user/graphical-session.target

and that they are *not* running (systemctl --user status graphical-
session{,-pre}.target)

REGRESSION POTENTIAL: Practically zero.

[Bug 1640216] [NEW] /etc/systemd/system/ctrl-alt-del.target gets installed/overwritten

2016-11-08 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 17.04 dev with systemd 232-2git1 and I have masked some
jobs to prevent them being started and one of them was ctrl-alt-
del.target. But I'm noticing that on installing systemd it does now
overwrite the file /etc/systemd/system/ctrl-alt-del.target which does
then enable a reboot on pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL again.

[Bug 1640111] Re: delete-folder 16.10 64 bit

2016-11-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1576539] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed

2016-11-08 Thread Mikkel Kirkgaard Nielsen
Hit this same problem while upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04 using the GUI
distribution upgrader.

During upgrade I got a dialog reporting the gconf2 dependency problem.
The terminal indicates this happened on unpacking the inkscape package.
See upper screenshot of attached image.

The upgrade process continued but the upgrader bailed out on processing
triggers for the dbus package reporting "Could not install upgrades".
See lower screenshot of attached image. The terminal reported "Error in
function:".

After this the upgrader closed and running the update-notifier asked me
to reboot the system. Manual inspection of the package state using dpkg
and further dpkg --configure -a invocations persuaded me that the system
was relatively intact and a reboot was done.

The system booted nicely and seems fine now except I receive a CRT
configuration error dialog when logging in on the display manager.

Runnnig dpkg --audit returns nothing and the packages that were
mentioned during upgrade seems ok:

$ dpkg -l gconf2 dbus inkscape

[Bug 1240336] Re: After release upgrade, the user looses permissions for several basic actions in the system

2016-11-08 Thread tweej
Using solution from #32 requires the installation of libpam-systemd if
you don't already have it. This package should be added as a dependency
of lxdm if that ends up being the accepted fix.

I just encountered this bug while trying to install vice-jz. Having to
sign in with an account feels very controlling and I hope it's only a
bug.

I decided to use Synaptic Package Manager instead which worked fine.

[Bug 1636945] Re: Update gnome-software to 3.22

2016-11-08 Thread Matthias Klumpp
It will also be interesting to see whether there are remaining bugs in aptcc
that should be fixed.
In general, aptcc is much slower than it needs to be, mainly due to its really
ineffective cache handling (reopening it again and again for most transactions)
and old code that was copied from various places (apt-get, Synaptic, even
aptitude).

I wanted to fix the caching issue at some point, but that would as of
now amount to massive refactoring - we even discussed briefly with KDE
Neon people the possibility to do a clean rewrite of PKs APT backend
(quite some effort), which might be a possibility in the future.

In any case, there are currently no known major bugs in aptcc, except
for its slowness and inability to parallelize read transactions (the
latter was due to APTs limitations in the past, and the APT guys say it
might be possible now - unfortunately, aptcc itself isn't ready for
that, due to having been developed non-threadsafe for a long time :P)

In any case, on topic: Thanks Robert for working on updating GS!

Well done Robert.

I hope to get some time in the coming weeks to look at our remaining
