[Bug 1692136] [NEW] Backport "core/timer: downgrade message about random time addition (#5229)".

2017-05-19 Thread Vinson Lee
Public bug reported:

Please backport upstream systemd v233 commit
382852fd581efe3cc0ae11154102ab9f435adea1 "core/timer: downgrade message
about random time addition (#5229)".
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/382852fd581efe3cc0ae11154102ab9f435adea1

This removes "random time" messages flooding dmesg.

The spew was introduced with v229 commit "core: add new RandomSec=
setting for time units".
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/744c7693751830149ae78fdaf95c6c6f99d59f07

trusty based off v204 is not affected.

xenial based off v229, yakkety based off v231, and zesty based off v232
need this fix.

artful based off v233 has the fix.

[Bug 1689425] Re: /usr/bin/gnome-software:11:g_source_attach:debconf_accept_cb:socket_source_dispatch:g_main_dispatch:g_main_context_dispatch

2017-05-19 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Robert, just so you know, we appear to be seeing bug reports also on
the package upgrade side as a result of these dropped debconf socket
connections, e.g.: bug #1691983. It's sensible for gnome-software not
to crash on a failed connection, but I think ultimately what we need are
succeeding connections :) so there may be more work to be done here.
(unless the failing connections from the other side are because gnome-
software has already crashed at that point?)

[Bug 1299604] Re: evolution keeps asking for password

2017-05-19 Thread Bob English
It's been more than 3 years that this bug started, and it is still not
fixed!!!

I had this problem in Ubuntu from 15.04 all the way to 17.04, and now in
SolydK where it is even worse because none of the 10 possible ways to
get gnome-keyring-deamon to start on login to work!!!

I have tried every workaround offered, and although one or the other
works here or there, it is completely inconsistant as to what will and
will not work at any given time, and once you found a "Solution" you
update the OS or something, and it fails again, then you can try every
freakin' option all over again!! Its easier to break into the World
Bank and crack the safe!

If no one is capable of fixing the problem, then why not just change the
way it works (doesn't work) all together:

Dump the freaking gnome keyring dependancy completely, and make
evolution remember passwords on it's own without it! It would have many
advantages.
