[Bug 1710637] Re: Input falls through to gdm3 and terminates the session on Ctrl+C
Sounds like this is related to VT switching. GDM is in VT1 and the login is on VT2. While I can't reproduce the bug right now, I can kind of see how it could happen: After switching between a bunch of VTs, eventually VT1 starts showing two screens when I switch to it by Ctrl+Alt+F1: (a) For a split-second: the boot log/terminal on tty1; and then (b) The GDM login screen. It's possible your Ctrl+C is somehow reaching tty1 on (a) before the login screen redraws, which might kill GDM. Just a theory. ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: gnome-17.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1710637 Title: Input falls through to gdm3 and terminates the session on Ctrl+C To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1710637/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1710715] [NEW] tracker 1.99.2 transition
Public bug reported: Tracker bug for tracker! GNOME 3.26 includes tracker which bumps the libraries to tracker2. Also, tracker-miners is a new source package split from the old tracker source package. I have done test rebuilds for all packages that will need to be rebuilt for this transition in the GNOME3 Staging PPA. One nice benefit of the split source packages is that I believe we will be able to sync from Debian once Debian packages the new versions. Debian packaged 1.99.1 but the split happened in 1.99.2 and the Debian maintainers haven't had time yet to handle the 1.99.2 uploads. [Bug 1710641] [NEW] Viewer fails to save a JPEG with non-JPEG filename extension
Public bug reported: == Steps to reproduce == 1. Download https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e1/Car_crash_1.jpg/193px-Car_crash_1.jpg?download 2. Open the image in Shotwell Viewer: $ shotwell 193px-Car_crash_1.jpg 3. Select File > Save As... 4. Select OK (without changing Format from "Current", or any other parameters) 5. Enter "193px-Car_crash_1.png" (without quotes) as the filename, select OK == What happens == The viewer now displays a black screen, with the text "Photo source file missing:" followed by the (.png-ending) image path entered in the dialog. The file has not been saved. == What I expect to happen == For the (now misnamed) .png-ending file to have been saved, and be opened in the Viewer. == Other notes == * If a file with the .png ending already exists, and I try overwriting it with the JPEG, the black error screen does not appear, and the viewer appears as if it had saved the file. But the file hasn't actually been saved; if 193px-Car_crash_1.png was an empty file before seemingly overwriting it, it remains empty. * I'm (intentionally) not doing an actual Format change in the first Save As dialog here. If I do select PNG as the format, then saving the file does work as expected (using any filename extension). * I used .png just as an example here. Any variant of /jpe?g/i as the extension seems to work as expected, whereas anything else (.gif, .foo etc.) results in the same "file missing" error as above. * If the original file is a PNG file, saving it with .jpg (or any other extension for that matter) seems to work as expected. [Bug 1710637] [NEW] Input falls through to gdm3 and terminates the session on Ctrl+C
Public bug reported: Multiple times a day I find myself without a session after hitting Ctrl+C in a terminal, it seems the input falls through the Ubuntu/GNOME session and to gdm, which itself decides to terminate. Even worse, when this happens, you can briefly see your login password in plaintext in the virtual terminal. You can see the password however long you want if you stop the gdm service when this happens. I don't have a good way to reproduce, but it seems locking the session with a keyboard shortcut, subsequently unlocking it, maybe suspending, at some point brings this behaviour into the picture, until the session dies with a Ctrl+C. This bug was fixed in the package gnome-shell - 3.24.3-0ubuntu2 --- gnome-shell (3.24.3-0ubuntu2) artful; urgency=medium * Ship ubuntu GNOME Shell mode which will be a slightely modified mode compared to upstream vanilla GNOME Shell one: reference a cutomized ubuntu.css, with some based rules changes from the upstream one, like default font, no symbolic icon in the appmenu for coherence with other set of icons not having symbolic ones. We use regexp rules based on the source shell css, so that it's always in sync with shell theming on any update. (LP: #1698795) * Dropped debian/patches/ubuntu_font.patch, not needed anymore as we will have our own theme. * debian/patches/ubuntu_gdm.patch: as gdm is system-wide and not session-wide, ensure gdm has an ubuntu styling by default, not impacting the gnome user session though. * Bump Standard-Version to latest * Remove debian/gnome-shell.gsettings-override, as this is now in ubuntu-settings, and we will have per-session overrides there. -- Didier RocheMon, 14 Aug 2017 09:03:41 +0200 ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698795 Title: Humanity should provide symbolic versions of custom icons for GNOME Shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-themes/+bug/1698795/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
