[Bug 1705953] Re: Show only snaps in "Editor's Picks"

2017-08-17 Thread Robert Ancell
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
- The "Editor's Picks" section currently contains a mix of hard-coded values,
values based on Ubuntu reviews and snaps from the "featured" snap store
section. As snaps are the newest and preferred method of installing things in
Ubuntu it should show only these, falling back to the default behaviour if no
snaps are found.
+ The "Editor's Picks" section currently contains a mix of hard-coded values,
values based on Ubuntu reviews and snaps from the "featured" snap store
section. As snaps are the newest and preferred method of installing things in
Ubuntu it should show only these in the order provided by snapd, falling back
to the default behaviour if no snaps are found.

  [Test Case]
  1. Open GNOME Software
  2. Look at "Editor's Picks" section

  Expected result:
- This section contains seven of the snaps from the "featured" snap store
section.
+ This section contains the snaps from the "featured" snap store section in the
correct order.

  Observed result:
- This section contains a mix of .deb and snaps. Some snaps may not be shown
due to not being able to fit them all in.
+ This section contains a mix of .deb and snaps. Some snaps may not be shown
due to not being able to fit them all in. The order is random (changes daily).

  [Regression Potential]
- Solution is to ensure the popular snaps are populated first. This stops the
hardcoded values from being added.
+ Solution is to add featured snaps last after clearing the existing featured
apps. GNOME Software was modified to not randomize this list. Some risk of
breaking related code.

[Bug 1710513] Re: Wi-fi automatically disconnects

2017-08-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

You should at least provide informations about the Ubuntu version and
and desktop environment you are using

[Bug 1711474] [NEW] graphical session and network not start up due to root FS being mounted read-only

2017-08-17 Thread Mikhail N
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 17.10, fresh install
$ systemctl --version
systemd 233

Graphical session (sddm.service), systemd-resolved.service and
NetworkManager.service are not loaded due to system root being mounted
read-only

$ journalctl -b0
авг 18 01:27:45 Kseniya-Desktop kernel: Command line:
BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-4.12.0-11-generic
root=UUID=87e60ca5-1b9f-4790-8b9e-6394b9d0a40e ro rootflags=subvol=@

This is the default kernel command line, ro means that the root filesystem must
be mounted read-only, then fsck is believed to be permormed, after what the FS
must be remounted rw (read-write)
But in my system (Ubuntu 17.10) the /home is mouned rw, but the root is still
ro.

I added to /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="rw"

Now my kernel command line is:
авг 18 01:27:45 Kseniya-Desktop kernel: Command line:
BOOT_IMAGE=/@/boot/vmlinuz-4.12.0-11-generic
root=UUID=87e60ca5-1b9f-4790-8b9e-6394b9d0a40e ro rootflags=subvol=@ rw

No the root fs is mounted rw and sddm.service starts the graphical
session automatically.

BUT:
NetworkManager.service is not started automatically and should be started
manually (sudo systemctl start NetworkManager)
Due to network offline, network fileshares are not mounted.

I also noticed that there is no dependency from fsck in -.mount, but
there is in home.mount

$ cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.

[Bug 1133477] Re: [SRU] cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2017-08-17 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Teo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gvfs into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/1.28.2-1ubuntu1~16.04.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1711241] Re: Unity support patch doesn't build with nautilus 3.25.90

2017-08-17 Thread Khurshid Alam
The patch for src/unity-quicklist-handler.c at the bottom is like this:

+UnityQuicklistHandler *
+unity_quicklist_handler_get_singleton (void)
+{
+if (!unity_quicklist_handler_singleton)
+{
+unity_quicklist_handler_singleton = unity_quicklist_handler_new ();

It seems it has been cut off from the end.

It should be :

+UnityQuicklistHandler *
+unity_quicklist_handler_get_singleton (void)
+{
+if (!unity_quicklist_handler_singleton)
+{
+unity_quicklist_handler_singleton = unity_quicklist_handler_new ();
+}
+return unity_quicklist_handler_singleton;
+}
+
+
+UnityQuicklistHandler *
+unity_quicklist_handler_new (void)
+{
+return g_object_new (UNITY_TYPE_QUICKLIST_HANDLER, NULL);
+}

[Bug 1711377] [NEW] Nautilus desktop mode should relearn handline a dock nicely

2017-08-17 Thread Didier Roche
Public bug reported:

Two fixes that we brought in 11.04 for Unity should be brought back to Nautilus:
* Icons aren't correctly placed in desktop until a first refresh (Nautilus
doesn't take care of workspace size hints before refresh). The icons are thus
below the panel and dock (when dock is always visible)
* When dock is in intellihide mode, the icons are aligned below the dock when
visible. We should teach nautilus to take into account icon dock size in that
mode and shift them.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1711241] Re: Unity support patch doesn't build with nautilus 3.25.90

2017-08-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  I have prepared nautilus 3.25.90 in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for Ubuntu
  17.10 "artful".

  The 12_unity_launcher_support.patch has a problem that fails the build
  and I don't know how to fix it so I disabled the patch for now.

  Nautilus 3.25 introduces meson support and drops autotools support so
  that's one factor when I updated the patch.

+ But when I disable the patch, nautilus crashes on start in Unity.
