[Bug 1712607] [NEW] gnome keyring goes awol after a few logout/logins
Public bug reported: First symptom noticed: That *sometimes* after logging in, owncloud- client would fail to connect to the server, after a delay asking instead for a password with the message something like (sorry don't have it in front of me) "keyring service unavailable". Second symptom, on trying to start Google Chrome (Chromium too), it would fail to sign in to my Google account for sync, with a long delay on startup while it gives up on that. This never happens on the first login session since the last boot. It may not happen on the second, but usually by the third login, it happens. I'm not certain of the pattern except it seems always to be fine in the *first* session. A reboot seemed to be needed to resolve this. But just now I tried instead from the commandline: gnome-keyring-daemon -r -f I'm sure -d would do too, but I wanted to watch it. Sure enough on trying to relaunch owncloud-client, I am *then* asked for my password to unlock the keyring as, it says, it didn't get unlocked when I logged in. Then both owncloud-client and google-chrome are now able to sign in, and I see associated messages from the gnome-keyring-daemon in the terminal where I'm running it. Presumably the daemon is not being reliably relaunched when needed, on successive logins to the gnome desktop. [Bug 1712528] [NEW] GNOME Software is slow to start up on first launch
Public bug reported: On an up to date Ubuntu Artful system with nothing running, GNOME Software takes between 15 and 20 seconds to be usable. This feels incredibly slow. I timed it on my laptop and recorded it here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxvn_RyJ46o I had nothing else running. Laptop is an i7 with 8GB RAM and SSD for storage. I would expect G-S to launch a lot quicker on this setup. Especially given launch speed was one of the reasons users were given as to why we switched away from the previous Ubuntu Software Center to G-S in the first place. Re: [Bug 1703110] Update Released
I recently found out that text selecting only works if the color of the note is set to default. 2017. aug. 23., sze 2.58-kor-kor, Chris Halse Rogersírta: The verification of the Stable Release Update for gnome-applets has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions. -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1703110 Title: notes doesn't delete only if empty Status in gnome-applets package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-applets source package in Zesty: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Unnesessary work for the user as he is forced to clear the note from text in order to delete it. It makes it more difficult that selecting text isn't possible with mouse. [Test Case] - Write anything in a note - Try to select text in a note - Try to delete it with 'x' or with 'delete notes' menu item [Proposed Fix] The fix is a backport of three upstream commits: - https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-applets/commit/?id=85041d6567c78b4a “sticky-notes: make sure that notes are really saved” - https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-applets/commit/?id=0c4e0c4fed0c61bf “sticky-notes: fix path to resource file for delete dialog” - https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-applets/commit/?id=e189ba213c0f8db8 “sticky-notes: fix text selection” [Regression Potential] The fix definitely improves the Sticky Notes applet because without ability to save notes that applet is mostly unusable. It does not touch other applets so no regression expected there. [Other Info] System configuration: roland@roland-Lenovo-ideapad-110-15I `:+ss+:` -+ssyy+- OS: Ubuntu 17.04 x86_64 .ossdMMMNyo.
