[Bug 735665] Re: Impossible to disable middle-click paste without breaking the middle mouse button
Support for changing this was added to GTK. You can create the file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini with these contents: [Settings] gtk-enable-primary-paste=true Or you can just use gnome-tweak-tool, which exposes this setting as a check box. There is a GNOME bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=665193 for changing the default. ** Package changed: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) => gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #665243 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=665243 ** Project changed: gnome-settings-daemon => gtk ** Changed in: gtk Importance: Medium => Unknown ** Changed in: gtk Status: Confirmed => Unknown ** Changed in: gtk Remote watch: GNOME Bug Tracker #665193 => GNOME Bug Tracker #665243 ** Bug watch removed: GNOME Bug Tracker #665193 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=665193 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/735665 Title: Impossible to disable middle-click paste without breaking the middle mouse button To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/735665/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1299512] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()
Hi to all. Have just recently changed from Ubuntu Xenial amd64 Unity 16.04.3 LTS to Ubuntu Gnome Xenial amd64 16.04.3 LTS and have started having this "System program problem detected" keyring error on start up (gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() ). Have already noticed it as reported, but because I have used Xenial Unity amd64 LTS 16.04.3 since it`s release and many other flavours without having any issue with the keyring error, thought it would be worth mentioning, Have also used many different release versions of the NVIDIA drivers as well without any effect. Am currently running with NVIDIA binary driver - version 375.66 from nvidia-375 (proprietary, tested) and will change back over to the X.Org X Server --Nouveau driver to see if issue persists on future boot ups. [Bug 1705157] Re: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg)
Don't see any randomness to this at all. The current behavior seen here on a Fresh install of Mondays image updated - 1st. login after install is always to an ubuntu-xorg session The login greeter will Always says "ubuntu" no matter what. Subsequent logins from a reboot or cold boot are always to the session one exited from previously. Logging out then in to the other session can produce some mixed info though the session will be what's picked. Possibly the mixed info is unimportant? Note that if on an ubuntu-xorg session because the greeter Always says ubuntu to actually get an ubuntu session one must switch in greeter from ubuntu to ubuntu-xorg & back to ubuntu Examples of mixed info from log out session switching: Log out from ubuntu-xorg to an actual ubuntu session. ~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION ubuntu $ env |grep wayland WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland $ env |grep xorg XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/ubuntu-xorg:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-ubuntu-xorg:/etc/xdg Log out from an actual ubuntu session to an ubuntu-xorg session. $ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION ubuntu-xorg $ env |grep wayland WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 $ env |grep xorg DESKTOP_SESSION=ubuntu-xorg XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/ubuntu-xorg:/usr/share/ubuntu-xorg:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop:/var/lib/snapd/desktop XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=ubuntu-xorg GDMSESSION=ubuntu-xorg XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-ubuntu-xorg:/etc/xdg/xdg-ubuntu-xorg:/etc/xdg Restarts produce different info Restart from an actual ubuntu session $ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION ubuntu $ env |grep wayland WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland $ env |grep xorg Restart from an ubuntu-xorg session. $ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION ubuntu-xorg $ env |grep xorg DESKTOP_SESSION=ubuntu-xorg XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/ubuntu-xorg:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop XDG_SESSION_DESKTOP=ubuntu-xorg GDMSESSION=ubuntu-xorg XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-ubuntu-xorg:/etc/xdg $ env |grep wayland -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705157 Title: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-session/+bug/1705157/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1713323] Re: HiDPI support partially broken after upgrade to Gnome 3.25
No wait, I've bethought me, actually. Partly brought on by issues with nvidia/wayland that weren't immediately obvious - nouveau is actually working better for me, if noticeably a bit more sluggish. Regarding your comment: "I think that GNOME Shell 3.25.90 doesn't really support HiDPI for X, just for Wayland. That may be a regression, but Hi-DPI support in GNOME Shell has been redesigned to prepare to support fractional scaling in Wayland in a future release and it may be a lot more complicated for all that to work well on X too." Yes, it is a regression, because it was working for *non* fractional scaling factors, and should reasonably be expected to go on doing so, even if it's fed from a different setting. (ie: it's now ignoring org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor) At the moment, in the gnome control center 3.25, I'm seeing only these scaling options on my desktop: 100%, 200%, 300%; and on my laptop only 100%, 200%. So we don't currently have fractional scaling right now anyway, though presumably they're expected to appear at some point. But it's rational to expect these non-fractional scaling factors to *go on working* in xorg, and perhaps for only those scaling factors to be offered via the user interface when in xorg. And it so nearly does already. [Bug 1698270] Re: Totem pauses and stutters during video playback even when CPU usage is low
OK, I have now encountered a few reasons for totem stuttering... 1. Excessive/faulty tags parsing (only seen in Big Buck Bunny videos?). Upstream has fixed the root cause: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=786561 but we have also patched totem itself in Ubuntu to avoid the issue: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/3.25.90.1-0ubuntu2 2. Excessive CPU usage of clutter-gtk particularly under Wayland -> bug 1698282 3. Insufficient buffering/parallelism in GStreamer. BBB tends to have a big stutter when the video bitrate spikes over 11Mbps. I'm not aware of any other reports of the problem though. 4. My experimental fixes for the high CPU usage of clutter-gtk in bug 1698282 reintroduces an old smoothness problem that only occurs under the default setting of CLUTTER_BACKEND=gdk (but not with CLUTTER_BACKEND=wayland or x11). I'll try to fix that somewhere between bug 1698282 and this one. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #786561 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=786561 ** Also affects: gstreamer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gstreamer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: gstreamer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Also affects: clutter-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698270 Title: Totem pauses and stutters during video playback even when CPU usage is low To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/totem/+bug/1698270/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1696305] Re: High CPU usage in gnome-shell just redrawing the screen (Firefox is running)
It appears the high CPU of gnome-shell with totem on Wayland at least is due to the totem app window redrawing at 60Hz seemingly only on Wayland (bug 1698282). When this happens, the compositor will have to upload (copy) the window texture from CPU to GPU 60 times per second, which is CPU-intensive. This would happen with any software ("shm") surface that is large and redrawing frequently. So I guess that might include Firefox too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1696305 Title: High CPU usage in gnome-shell just redrawing the screen (Firefox is running) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1696305/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1715157] Re: Ubuntu software center won't install updates.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
