[Bug 1717388] [NEW] Duplicate lines created when copying csv file from a windows shared folder through Virtualbox
Public bug reported: Running: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS System: Virtualbox VM When copying a large csv file (30-40 columns with strange characters, null bytes, etc.) from a shared folder with windows through vbox to Ubuntu, the data is corrupted in a strange way. The target is irrelevant. Expected to happen: File successfuly copied or moved. Actually happened: Mouse pointer changes to a hand with a plus sign. [Bug 1716068] Re: Gnome Shell crashes randomly
I've been testing Ubuntu Gnome 16.10 and 17.04 and the same issue happens on them. When running "gnome-shell --replace" in a Terminal before preforming the software updates, I see a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error in the Terminal when the crash happens. However, the issue never appears when using the current builds of Ubuntu 17.10, both in Wayland and Xorg. Perhaps the updated GJS interpreter fixed the issue. [Bug 1717300] [NEW] gnome-keyring -ssh silently start and conflict with ssh-agent
Public bug reported: According to /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop gnome-keyring launchers are visible in OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;MATE;. I use Cinnamon and under Cinnamon gnome-keyring is not visible in the autostart menu. But it's started hidden ad steal SSH_AUTH_SOCK from the ssh_agent. And this creates confusion problems, because gnome-keyring don't support ECDSA and ED25519. And there was hard to investigate where this gnome-keyring was launched to switch it off. The problem script is from Ubuntu, perhaps /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-keyring-ssh.conf There is a check of running ssh-agent, [ -z "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ], but obviously it don't work. What is needed to do is if gnome-keyring is running in any windows manager, thus it must be visible in any, thus anyone shall can quickly switch it off, if this will be needed. Or don't run where it is not visible as autostart application. Workaround is to copy file /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop to the user homedir, delete "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;MATE;" with any text editor in this file and switch it off later. [Bug 1717272] [NEW] HiDPI settings reset on logout
Public bug reported: When logging in to my XPS 13 (9360) on 17.10, the only thing that is reasonably (200%) scaled is the sidebar. Top bar, windows, and fonts are all unscaled and TINY. - I'll go to Control Centre, Devices, Displays, and see that scaling is set to 200%. - I'll then change the scaling to 100%, and hit apply and confirm. At this point, windows are scaled to 200%. - I need to change the scaling to 100% AGAIN. Now everything is 100%, and therefore tiny - I then change the scaling to 200%, hit apply and confirm, which does barely anything - I then need to set scaling to 200% AGAIN, hit apply and confirm, and only *then* everything is properly scaled. [Bug 1705157] Re: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg)
This bug was fixed in the package gdm3 - 3.26.0-1ubuntu1 --- gdm3 (3.26.0-1ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes: + README.Debian: update for correct paths in Ubuntu + control.in: - Don't recommend desktop-base - Depend on bash for ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch - Update Vcs field - Don't build for s390x since gnome-shell isn't available there + rules: - Don't override default user/group - --enable-gdm-xsession to install upstream Xsession script - override dh_installinit with --no-start to avoid session being killed - Only do gdm3 things when we're building gdm3 + rules, README.Debian, gdm3.8.pod: Use upstream custom.conf instead of daemon.conf + gdm3.{postinst,postrm}: rename user and group back to gdm + gdm3.postinst: don't kill gdm on upgrade + gdm3.*.pam: Make pam_env read ~/.pam_environment (LP: #952185) + gdm3.install: - Stop installing default.desktop. It adds unnecessary clutter ("System Default") to the session chooser. - Don't install debian/Xsession + debian/gdm3.config - Only prompt the user to choose display managers when we haven't already determined a migration to gdm3 is recommended. - Handle the transition from lightdm in gdm3 rather than ubuntu-session - Check the version of gdm3 instead of ubuntu-session. If ubuntu-session wasn't installed, the previous version generated stderr output. (It didn't fail, because the dpkg-query call was first in the pipeline and the awk call always succeeds.) If gdm3 was configured before ubuntu-session then this check wouldn't have worked either. I think that instead we can compare the version of gdm3 itself, and do this transition when we upgrade from an old version or install gdm3 for the first time. + ubuntu_run_xsession.d.patch + ubuntu_xresources_is_a_dir.patch - Fix loading from /etc/X11/Xresources/* + ubuntu_nvidia_prime.patch: - Add hook to run prime-offload (as root) and prime-switch if nvidia-prime is installed (LP: #1262068) + revert_override_LANG_with_accountservices.patch: - On Ubuntu accountservices only stores the language and not the full locale as needed by LANG. + ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch: - Show warning dialog in case of error in ~/.profile etc. and don't let a syntax error make the login fail (LP: #678421). + Add revert_drop_gdm_shell_session.patch: - Revert commit that requires gnome-session to be installed + debian/default.pa - Added new file to disable Bluetooth audio devices in PulseAudio from gdm3. + debian/gdm3.install - Added details of the default.pa file + debian/gdm3.postinst - Added installation of default.pa and creation of dir if it doesn't exist. + debian/patches/95_hide_x11_sessions_with_nvidia_kms.patch: Patch from Alberto Milone. On nvidia, if the user has enabled KMS, don't show X11 sessions and force Wayland instead since X11 won't work there. gdm3 (3.26.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium * New upstream stable release - Fix for unauthenticated unlock when autologin is enabled (CVE-2017-12164) - Fix for going to normal mode after classic - crasher fix when user switching - make sure reauthentication is run in right context * debian/patches/01_gdm-session-Calculate-fallback-session-name-without-.patch: Cherry-pick from upstream. Calculate the default (`fallback') session in the same way as gnome-shell does, fixing an out-of-sync issue between the greeter and gdm's idea of the first session. (LP: #1705157) * debian/patches/92_systemd_unit.patch: No need to patch to send HUP - this is done upstream now. gdm3 (3.25.90.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium * New upstream release * Drop revert_drop_gdm_shell_session.patch: Applied in new release * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.0 -- Marc Deslauriers Thu, 14 Sep 2017 08:09:09 -0400 ** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** CVE added: https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=2017-12164 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705157 Title: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1705157/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
