[Bug 1730174] Re: [artful] mouse clicks are completely ignored both in Gnome's gdm and once logged in to the desktop
If you can instruct me on how to gather the pertinent information, I can make a report. Honestly though, it seems like the chances of some unique rare issue that few have is going to get much attention. If it comes to it that I need Wayland on this system, I'd sooner just reinstall which typically resets weird elusive configuration issues of which there could be many. It's too bad there isn't a financially backed bounty system somewhere for fixing bugs? I might pay into some reward to fix these odd issues that aren't likely to get much attention. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730174 Title: [artful] mouse clicks are completely ignored both in Gnome's gdm and once logged in to the desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1730174/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1744711] Re: Update gnome-terminal to 3.28 (vte 0.52)
As per bug 1745825, I've dropped the code that decides whether to show/hide the "Use transparency from system theme" checkbox, it is now always shown. It shouldn't be that hard to bring it back. It'd need to be done manually; methods that received an extra parameter by this part of the patch now take different parameters in upstream, so the patch doesn't apply automatically. As this part of the code might cause a crash, I'm personally not motivated at all to bring back that crash, I vote for this patch which eliminates it. And as per that bug, bringing back this feature and fixing the bug in the same time is really nontrivial. ** Patch added: "gnome-terminal-3.27.90 0001-Restore-transparency.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1744711/+attachment/5049413/+files/0001-Restore-transparency.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1744711 Title: Update gnome-terminal to 3.28 (vte 0.52) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1744711/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1746004] Re: Desktop Action menus of Remmina are not translated
An alternative and less hackish solution: Simply remove "X-Ubuntu- Gettext-Domain=remmina" from the .desktop file, and the translations won't be stripped from .desktop when the package is built. ** Patch added: "remmina-translations-2.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/+bug/1746004/+attachment/5049056/+files/remmina-translations-2.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746004 Title: Desktop Action menus of Remmina are not translated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/1746004/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1718238] Re: Giant terminal icon is blocking out the Terminal window buttons
Well, the title can be changed :) Anyway, it's not worth further discussing, rather than working on the actual bug. [Bug 1718238] Re: Giant terminal icon is blocking out the Terminal window buttons
Yes we do do that sometimes. However there was an additional reason to keep this one other than its age; the title is much more helpful and specific. By comparison "gnome-terminal graphic artifact" could refer to any number of different problems. An accurate title is crucial in helping people to find existing bugs and avoid logging more duplicates. And so it brings more people together faster, leading to speedier resolutions, hopefully. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718238 Title: Giant terminal icon is blocking out the Terminal window buttons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1718238/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1718238] Re: Giant terminal icon is blocking out the Terminal window buttons
(Daniel, may I please kindly recommend that next time when one of the bugs contains all the information present in the other plus much-much more then mark it as duplicate the other way around, even if chronologically incorrect? IMO that's much more useful for continuing to work on it and hopefully getting it fixed eventually. [Bug 1730174] Re: [artful] mouse clicks are completely ignored both in Gnome's gdm and once logged in to the desktop
@swami-petaramesh, With nouveau, Ubuntu will default to Wayland. And if you install the Nvidia proprietary driver then that generally disables Wayland and forces you to use Xorg. Although the difference is usually invisible to the user. So actually it sounds like Xorg was causing your problems... which is a very different code path for mouse handling in mutter, compared to Wayland. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1718238 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718238 ok so my home machine says wayland and does not have the problem. [Bug 1730174] Re: [artful] mouse clicks are completely ignored both in Gnome's gdm and once logged in to the desktop
Hello, I cannot test it anymore in Ubuntu, as I have removed Ubuntu from this machine, but I do *not* believe that it related to Wayland and I'm positive that it relates to the NVidia proprietary driver on my machine as explained above. For I discovered the same issue after installing Manjaro with Cinnamon (that does *not* use Wayland) on the machine : - Immediately after install (with the default free "Nouveau" driver, the mouse was working correctly) - I installed the NVidia 304 proprietary driver, and immediately the problem appeared : mouse clicks not working anymore. - I then reverted back to nouveau, and the problem was solved. I have all the reasons to believe that seing the exact same problem in Manjaro that I had with Ubuntu shows that the problem has the same cause...
