[Bug 1751417] [NEW] gtk3.22 makes gedit & pluma screen flash for short text only
Public bug reported: Environment: Ubuntu 18.04 development branch; GTK-3 version: 3.22; For almost all gtk3-based text editor, such as gedit, pluma, mousepad. There is textview flashing issue when the textview doesn't have its side-scrollbar. Typically, short text in textview can make this condition satisified. 1) Editor textview flashing problem only happens in OS physical hosts, and doesn't happen when editors run inside Virtualbox. 2) Editor textview flashing problem doesn't happen in Ubuntu 16.04 which is of lower gtk3 version; 3) If text document is long to generate either side of scrollbar for the editor textview, then the textview is no longer flashing. More to see: https://github.com/mate-desktop/pluma/issues/282 Still, I just ensure that it is not a pluma issue but happens in all gtk3-based text editor including gedit. [Bug 1751260] [NEW] screen session destroyed when physical screen switched away
Public bug reported: If I start a screen session and log out, the session persists. If I start a screen session and use my KVM to switch my main monitor to another computer, leaving this computer temporarily headless, my screen session gets destroyed. (This computer and the monitor both hook up to the KVM switch with DisplayPort.) At least, that is some part of the condition for my screen session getting abruptly closed. Switching the KVM for a short period of time seems insufficient, but it has happened several times when I left my monitor switched to the other computer for longer periods. When my screen session gets destroyed, I also have to log back in to gdm, rather than just unlock my Wayland session. Please revert this steaming mess of dreck known as systemd. [Bug 1710637] Re: Input falls through to gdm3 and terminates the session on Ctrl+C after udevadm trigger is executed under wayland
I'm experiencing this problem since months, the only "one time" fix when it occurs I found is : sudo sh -c 'dumpkeys |grep -v cr_Console |loadkeys' Until the next reboot... [Bug 1672297] Re: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time
There is a memory leak generating window previews on gnome shell and since pressing the Super key generates windows previews the memory usage grows exponentially. For me Gnome Shell eats about 100-150 MB every day I leave it running. I tested this both on an Intel graphics machine and on a VM, in both Artful and Bionic. Both times clean install. 1. on a clean boot open System Monitor and Terminal side by side (or System Monitor and any other window) 2. press Super wait for the window preview and then press ESC (repeat this several times) 3. Observe the memory usage for Gnome Shell System Monitor grow You can also reproduce this by installing the Alternate Tab extension (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/15/alternatetab/) which also generates window previews. 1. Alt+Tab between Terminal and System Monitor and watch the Gnome Shell memory usage grow every time. Another user on reddit also came to a similar conclusion: https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/7teono/possible_fix_to_improve_gnome_lag/ Effectively gnome shell becomes unusable even on 8 GB of RAM after a week of usage. I solve the issue by running ALT+F2 and 'r' every morning. People who are not technical of course will not do this and have a horrible experience. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672297 Title: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1672297/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
