Thanks. That is a very helpful screenshot. It appears that only recently changed widgets/actors are rendered correctly. So this suggests a bug in mutter's buffer age logic, or the graphics driver. [Bug 1752202] [NEW] U2F not working after upgrade: systemd dropped udev rules and libu2f-udev not installed
Public bug reported: Summary: * libu2f-udev is not installed automatically, and after upgrading systemd it has lost its udev rules for U2F devices. * installing u2f-host (which pulls in libu2f-udev) doesn't seem to be enough to get it working either, had to manually reload the rules Long version: I upgraded from XUbuntu 17.10 to 18.04 daily build for testing. Previously I was able to use a Yubikey U2F device with Chromium and Firefox, however after the upgrade no U2F device was detected, the browser just timed out the U2F detection. I installed u2f-host to debug the problem further but it told me that it couldn't find any U2F devices. I looked in /dev/hidraw* and my user couldn't access any. Running this and repluggingt the device fixed the permissions: sudo udevadm control --reload-rules. It looks like that systemd used to have udev rules for U2F devices but they got dropped recently, pointing to libu2f-udev: https://salsa.debian.org/systemd-team/systemd/commit/655e466caf37af36f527d42f164901b658203a2d Which is fine, except libu2f-udev is not installed automatically: libu2f-udev Reverse Depends: libu2f-host0 ubuntu-mate-desktop ubuntu-mate-core ubuntu-budgie-desktop libu2f-host0 Reverse Depends: libu2f-host-dev u2f-host pamu2fcfg libpam-u2f This seems wrong, individual desktop environments shouldn't bring this in, either the applications that use them (firefox, chromium) should recommend it, or a package common to all desktop flavours should pull it in. Please make libu2f-udev automatically installed as it was before when it was part of systemd, and reload the udev rules when it is installed. I'm filing this bug against systemd because the package that broke the behaviour was systemd, when udev rules got dropped from it the other packages' dependencies should've been updated so that the rules are not lost. Thank you for your report. This bug is better filed against netplan in the first instance, so the netplan developers can consider your use case. If I were you, I'd expand on your use case, explaining what you're doing and why you need it and so forth, if you want anything addressed before Bionic's release. Note though that according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Netplan using ifupdown is still an option - you just need to request that explicitly at install time (or switch later). ** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) => nplan (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - systemd-networkd supports neither MAC address DHCP nor SendHostname - DO NOT RELEASE BIONIC WITHOUT CHANGING BACK TO dhclient PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (or else configure netplan to use these options properly) + netplan's networkd renderer supports neither MAC address DHCP nor SendHostname -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752142 Title: netplan's networkd renderer supports neither MAC address DHCP nor SendHostname To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nplan/+bug/1752142/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1752140] [NEW] Gedit menu button disappear (17.10)
Public bug reported: The menu button of Gedit somehow disappeared (see attached screenshot). This happens only to one user (myself) on the system with Xorg, as it appears normally in my wife's account on the same computer, as well as on root. I have tried deleting several config files, including ~/.config/gedit, login/logout and rebooting without success. [Bug 1749481] Re: Wrong session marked as selected in session dropdown on login screen
I tested again this AM beginning with a fresh install of 20180227, applying updates, and then installing gnome-panel. During installation I chose to auto-login so after initially logging out and selecting flashback w/metacity I still booted the default DE. But that was expected behavior based on prior testing of Bionic. So I rebooted, then tried logging out again and selecting flashback w/metacity and still I just get the default DE. Next I opened the Users window and turned auto-login off, rebooted and selected flashback w/metacity but still I just get the default DE. Those initial results from last night were based on a slightly older install where I had been using lightdm with the unity greeter, but I purged lightdm and then autoremoved all leftover depends. Clearly that didn't give me a clean enough install to produce a reliable result. Bottom line = it's not fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749481 Title: Wrong session marked as selected in session dropdown on login screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1749481/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

However, the upstream feature is incomplete without the gnome-settings-daemon patches that haven't been accepted upstream yet. Also, the upstream gsettings schema for this feature has a different name than the Ubuntu schema. Didier's plan was to keep using the Ubuntu schema name until the gnome-settings-daemon patches were accepted. After that, we'll need a way to migrate the gsettings schema.) 2. The app icon was renamed from 'preferences-system' to 'gnome-control- center'. We'll want to update humanity-icon-theme and the Ubuntu Budgie default themes. But there is a naming issue with gnome-icon-theme so let's hold off on changing icon themes until that gets resolved: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues/3 Other Issues 1. Background panel redesign might get a GNOME 3.28 UI Freeze Exception https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788515 Current patches look like v4 at https://wiki.gnome.org/Design/SystemSettings/Background - Not possible to set Lock Screen background - Not possible to set a solid color as background - It has an "Open Photos app" link at the bottom, but our default photo app is Shotwell. 2. The default 'faces' (user avatars) were changed. This breaks existing user avatar selections. Affects Ubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Unity. + Update: there is a merge proposal for the avatar issue: + https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues/5 + Other Info -- I believe this can be updated independently of gnome-settings-daemon or gnome-shell/mutter. Packaging is at https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-desktop/gnome-control-center/328 Packages are available in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for bionic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750174 Title: Update gnome-control-center to 3.27.90 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1750174/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1296487] Re: Initial zoom level is slightly under 100%
I have a similar zoom issue with Ubuntu 17.10 (Xorg). Since I have a HiDPI display, I use the 200% scaling option and assume that this might be correlated with the issue. When I open a screenshot of 1246x878px, it is displayed in EOG at about the correct size, however is looks anti-aliased and EOG says it is 50% zoom and not 100%. Shotwell shows a similar behavior, Gimp and RawTherapee work fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296487 Title: Initial zoom level is slightly under 100% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/eog/+bug/1296487/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1752024] Re: patch review of gnome-session
Thanks Tim for reviewing those, some comments * 22_support_autostart_delay.patch, It's still useful and easy to maintain, let's keep it at least until the LTS. We don't have systemd user session yet, when we do (likely next cycle) then we can drop the patch and move from autostart to user jobs. * 95_dbus_request_shutdown.patch, unsure where it's used but it's easy to keep so let's avoid surprises by dropping it just before the LTS and do that next cycle? * export_env_to_upstart.patch seems fine to drop -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752024 Title: patch review of gnome-session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1752024/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: I have had a look through the current gnome-session packaging and there are a number of packages which I would like to drop. 22_support_autostart_delay.patch - This was broken while we were running under upstart user sessions, not sure if it currently works with systemd, however the few apps that may be using it, should probably be using systemd --user sessions? 95_dbus_request_shutdown.patch - This predates the dinosaurs, no idea if anyone is using the dbus API's butthis should all have been superceeded by logind? export_env_to_upstart.patch - upstart is no longer in the archive, this is no longer needed. 13_display_session_properties.patch and 51_remove_session_saving_from_gui.patch should just be merged into the gnome-session-properties revert patches, if we decide to keep it. ignore_gsettings_region.patch - should probably be added in debian, unless its specific to ubuntu specific patches in accountsservice or so? ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752024 Title: patch review of gnome-session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1752024/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
