[Bug 1760005] [NEW] Dialog 'add custom shortcut dialog' is unusable with keyboard only

2018-03-29 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Public bug reported:

'Add Custom Shortcut' dialog (Settings -> Keyboard -> '+' at the end of
list) never sets focus to 'Set Shortcut...' and 'Add' buttons if used
from keyboard.

Current field order is: 'Name' -> 'Command' -> 'Cancel' button.
Tab key switches focus only between these 3 fields. Arrow keys switch focus
only between input fields.

Expected field order: 'Name' -> 'Command' -> 'Set Shortcut...' -> 'Add'
button (if enabled) -> 'Cancel' button.

[Bug 1698083] Re: Middle-click titlebar actions (like maximizing vertically) don't work in Wayland sessions

2018-03-29 Thread sojusnik
I'm using Ubuntu 17.10 and this bug is still present with Xorg AND
Wayland.

Apps with a "normal" GTK titlebar (the narrow one), like Firefox, are
working according to the settings in Gnome Tweak. So a double- or
middle-click on the titlebar maximizes the window f.i. vertically. But
when an app has a "Gnome" titlebar (the broad one), f.i. Gedit, then the
window is always maximized fully, not only vertically or horizontally.

You can download a screencast of this bug here:
https://mega.nz/#!j5BSjaSL!o7E3Kuf061sJQ_tUukpe-3Tf4JTi7NExB3uI-z_ijX4

It shows the behavior of different apps, GTK and QT, with different
titlebars:

Deluge (GTK): works
Qpdfview (QT): works
LibreOffice (GTK): works
Gnome Tweak: fails
Gedit: fails

Can somebody confirm this?

Would be great to have a fix soon, since this bug is around for years!

[Bug 1694454] Re: Can't open gnome terminal

2018-03-29 Thread Chris S.
dino99: I tried what I said, and GNOME apps launch when logging out
fully from each session. So the issue only occurs when two DEs have been
logged in (even if the XFCE session is logged out), I assume with the
same username. So perhaps GNOME apps think they're launching in XFCE,
but since XFCE is closed, they don't launch anywhere.

It would appear the workaround for me would be to remote login with a
different username.

[Bug 1694454] Re: Can't open gnome terminal

2018-03-29 Thread Chris S.
dino99: I ran deborphan and bleachbit. Nothing major there.

The most recent change to this system was the setup of XFCE and XRDP for
remote login. If I restart the machine, I can launch the GNOME apps like
normal. To replicate the issue, I first have to remote login to XFCE (do
something, then log out). Then I physically go to the PC and try to use
a GNOME app in the GNOME DE. The XFCE and GNOME sessions use the same
username. So it appears the GNOME apps may be getting confused as to
which DE to use. But why just the GNOME apps and not everything else?

In order to set up the remote desktop, I modified the .xsession file to
be this:

#!/bin/bash
xfce4-session

This allows me to log in as the same user on the local and remote
sessions. Perhaps this is a bad practice, but it allows me to use my
tower PC (in the basement) on my laptop (upstairs). Perhaps this would
all work better if I set up a separate user (e.g., in the original
username group to access the same files) for remote access instead of
using the same username.

Still, I imagine if I log out of GNOME, log in remotely with XFCE, log
out of XFCE, then log in to GNOME, the issue may still persist. I will
try that now.

[Bug 1735929] Re: security problems with incorrect permissions for ubuntu 17.10

The weird version is no-go, bionic-proposed is not supposed to be used,
it's a pocket designed for packages testing and validation, if you opt
in for that you should know what you are doing. It's easy enough to go
back, just install dconf-server/bionic libdconf1/bionic etc for all the

[Bug 1759681] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-4ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: triggers looping, abandoned

2018-03-29 Thread Ricardo Almeida
I upgraded from Ubuntu 17.10 to 18.04 and it failed in the process
(because of cinnamon-common bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cinnamon/+bug/1759127, I
think). I manage to have all packages upgraded in the end, although
cinnamon fails to start (different issue, I would say, just letting you
know as it could be the thing that made the crash dialog showed up
later)...

When I logged in Gnome, I did some more upgrades, and I got a few
appreport crashes dialogs, so I just submit the info it asked me too...

Yeah but that tweak is quite dirty: try to downgrade from
0.26.1-3ubuntu2 to 0.26.0-2ubuntu3, and you are proposed to remove half
of the packages list.

Maybe set the proposed version higher than the previous proposed one to
bypass that issue.

No, that was "dconf" (rename) and that never migrated to bionic due to
armhf autopkgtest issues, I deleted that version to land that fix, the

[Bug 1752431] Re: Gnome Shell Wayland session crashes on startup - artful

2018-03-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Sorry about that. You can correct your bug title by changing your bug
title to "eglnative" instead of "glnative".

But I suggest the best and only way forward here is for us to get a
crash file reported via the 'ubuntu-bug' command.

Please check that you have applied the workaround to bug 994921
carefully, reboot, and check /var/crash for files again. If any are
found then please run:

  ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash

and tell us here the newly-created bug ID.

I mean Xorg is now the default in 18.04. It wasn't in 17.10.

[Bug 1752431] Re: Gnome Shell Wayland session crashes on startup - artful

Regarding the bug I filed with mutter, they sent me this, I am at a
loss:

"Jonas Ådahl commented:

First there is no such thing as "glnative" backend. Secondly, please
write proper bug reports. A very generic title and linking to an
external bug tracker is not enough."

[Bug 1759771] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGBUS in __memmove_avx_unaligned_erms() from util_copy_box() from util_resource_copy_region() from util_try_blit_via_copy_region() from lp_blit() from st_Bl

2018-03-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The crash occurred in Mesa gallium code (so radeon or nouveau). However
the caller was mutter (gnome-shell) from its hybrid GPU logic, which is
only used in Wayland sessions.

I know that doesn't help users right now, but it's important information
for developers.

** Summary changed:

- gnome-shell crashed with signal 7 in __memmove_avx_unaligned_erms()
+ gnome-shell crashed with SIGBUS in __memmove_avx_unaligned_erms() from
util_copy_box() from util_resource_copy_region() from
util_try_blit_via_copy_region() from lp_blit() from st_BlitFramebuffer() from
blit_framebuffer()

[Bug 1050358] Re: emesene crashed with SIGSEGV in tupledealloc.24592()

2018-03-29 Thread Christoph Reiter
This crash seems to be limited to Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 (looking at the
duplicates and the linked upstream bug report). And that's no longer
supported.

Also the affected program is unmaintained for some years now.
