[Bug 1767574] [NEW] number of cores in Resource tab

2018-04-27 Thread Pavlos Kairis
Public bug reported:

Not a bug but an enhancement ... I have 6 cores (AMD FX 6300) and the
resource tab shows 4 cores as the first row and 2 cores in the second.
It would look nicer to line them up as 3 on 1st row and 3 on 2nd row.
Also, note the vertical spacing between cpu1 and cpu5; too tight.

Here's a screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/JUFNWlc

Thanks.

[Bug 1767369] Re: Offer Ubuntu upgrades via Ubuntu Software

2018-04-27 Thread Jeb E.
I use the update manager too, but implementing a manual upgrade into the
Software Center as an optional way to upgrade instead would be a great
option for users to upgrade at a later date if they choose to hold off
on it, but not wait the full LTS cycle.

[Bug 1767564] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Workspaces only change on primary monitor

[Bug 1759625] Re: FFe: Sync gimp 2.10.0~RC2-1 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)

2018-04-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I'm closing this bug. We're not going to include gimp 2.10 in Ubuntu
18.04 LTS so it's probably better to close this bug so that we don't
confuse people.

gimp 2.10 will be autosynced to Ubuntu 18.10 when autosync is turned on
(maybe in a week or two).

[Bug 1687246] Re: GNOME Shell should support fractional (non-integer) Hi-DPI scaling

2018-04-27 Thread Ken
I had it manually enabled in Gnome on 17.10 and just upgraded to 18.04.
On Wayland, I'm noticing fractional scaling went from pretty good to
broken; many fonts (even the datetime on the top of the screen) are now
pixelated on 150% scaling.

[Bug 1767549] [NEW] org.gnome.Characters.desktop untranslated

2018-04-27 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Public bug reported:

$ tail -n1 /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Characters.desktop
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=$PACKAGE_NAME

dh_translations is confused by files in the source package belonging to
the old build system. configure.ac contains this line:

GETTEXT_PACKAGE=$PACKAGE_NAME

and dh_translations happily uses it to do its things.

The gnome-characters source package should apparently be cleaned up, but
I think that dh_translations should also be changed to not accept a
domain starting with '$'.

[Bug 1767544] [NEW] While running the Orca screen reader, system hangs while gnome-control-center is open

2018-04-27 Thread Jeremy Lincicome
Public bug reported:

When gnome-control-center loads, my computer becomes inaccessible. To get Orca
working again, I have to force close the app with Alt+f4. There are parts of
the control center that I can use, such as the sound and VPN settings, only if
I invoke them from the dash. If I invoke Wi-Fi from the dash or top bar, it is
inaccessible.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Orca by pressing Alt+Super+s.
2. Press the super key, and type "settings" into the search box.
3. After the settings screen loads, try to move around using Tab and Shift+Tab.
Also try to move using Orca's flat review feature.
The commands for using flat review can be found at:
https://help.gnome.org/users/orca/stable/commands_flat_review.html.en
On a desktop, the Orca modifier is the insert key. On a laptop, the Orca
modifier is the Caps lock key, if laptop layout is set in Orca's preferences.

[Bug 1767494] [NEW] Some Gnome Shell extensions are visible and active in Lock Screen

2018-04-27 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

This is a bad Gnome Shell security flaw. When the screen is locked,
nothing should be available. But I see the Dash do Dock extension and I
can even start applications from it. Even though I cannot see the apps
running, but when I unlock, I can see them. This is a huge security risk
and should be fixed asap in Gnome. This is both in Ubuntu 17.10 and
18.04.

I have reported upstream, too:

[Bug 1767264] Re: Window manager refresh rate is different from monitor refresh rate

2018-04-27 Thread Rachel
Not sure how relevant, but I tried setting CLUTTER_VBLANK=none to see if
forcing the use of my video card's driver would have any effect, but it
causes the entire desktop to freeze and need to be force closed.

** Description changed:

  Ubuntu Budgie 18.04
+ budgie-desktop 10.4

The refresh rate of the window manager in Ubuntu Budgie appears to be
locked at 60hz regardless of the actual monitor refresh rate (144hz in
  my case).

xrandr reports the proper refresh rate glxgears runs synced to the
correct refresh rate but moving windows and animations in the desktop do
  not.

Unfortunately I have only been able to test this using an nVidia GPU,
but the problem happens with both nouveau and proprietary drivers.

This issue seems limited specifically to Ubuntu Budgie, and does not
exist when using Budgie Desktop in Solus Linux or Arch which is why I'm
  reporting it here.

[Bug 1767454] Re: "Windows Network" does not find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-27 Thread David Spoelstra
** Description changed:

+ The actions taken to produce the problem:
+ Click on “Other Locations” in Nautilus.

- However, I can still manually type in the information in "Connect to
+ The expected result of these actions:
+ Samba servers to automatically show up under “Networks”. This is the behavior
in Ubuntu 17.10 using Nautilus 1:3.26.0-0ub. Also, clicking on “”Windows
Network” immediately shows "Folder is Empty".
+
+ The actual result of these actions:
+ The Samba servers never show up under “Networks” and clicking on "Windows
Network" always immediately comes up with "Folder is Empty".

[Bug 1767445] [NEW] Incorrect metadata shown for snaps

2018-04-27 Thread Adam Collard
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Software, when showing metadata about a snap package, is most of
the time, likely to get information which is misleading, since it shows
info from the *most recently* uploaded snap, regardless of which channel
the snap was uploaded to.

An example of this is to search for blender, and see that the version
shows the edge channel - 2.80-4de142e0b7b and not the stable channel -
2.79.

After actually installing the application, the correct metadata is
shown.

See https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/unexpected-revision-information-
exposed-in-some-situations/5163 for more details.

[Bug 1767431] [NEW] restore type-ahead find, again

2018-04-27 Thread Kaijia Feng
Public bug reported:

The dropping of the type-ahead find patch in 17.10 might deeply affect
non-technical users, as pointed out, this is possibly a bad HCI design.
As there is a patch exists from the Arch community[1], and the at least
some people managed to patch it in 17.10[2], might it be possible to add
such patch back before 18.04.1 so that it won't affect people upgraded
from 16.04?

[Bug 1767369] Re: Include installation pages for new Uubntu versions

2018-04-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The update-manager has a lot more functionality to support smooth
upgrades from one Ubuntu version to the next. Until gnome-software
supports all of that, it would cause problems for Ubuntu to offer
upgrades via gnome-software.

** Changed in: gnome-software (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1767388] [NEW] Sometimes cannot login to graphical environment.

2018-04-27 Thread zob
Public bug reported:

On 18.04
gdm3 3.28.0-0ubuntu1
4.15.0-20-generic

I suspect it is related to gdm3, but not sure.
On freshly installed final release of bionic, I somtimes cannot login to gnome
desktop. It is always preceeded by failed login attempt even though password is
correct.

I can switch to a virtual console, but nothing happens when trying to
switch back to graphical CTRL+ALT+F7 - stays in console.

It seems that sudo /etc/init.d/gdm3 restart might fix the problem, but I
havn't tested extensively yet.

Note also that when the problem occurs there is no XDG_SESSION choices
available on the login screen. The "settings" icon next to the login
button is gone. After this an attempt to login with correct password
will fail, and the second attempt to login with take me to the blank
screen + cursor situation described above.

I can't say how to reproduce. On my machine it happens 50% of the times.

[Bug 1766872] Re: 'Enable Network' in recovery mode not working in Bionic

2018-04-27 Thread Eric Desrochers
So all the remaining jobs are basically waiting for friendly-recovery to
exit to start due to the "oneshot" instruction, which make xnox patch
(revno 152) not working.

Some waiting jobs are units in which the desired network services in revno 152
depends on.
I totally understand why "oneshot" is set, but in this case it is the blocker.

If we remove "oneshot" then everything will start and make the recovery mode
useless.
So I think "oneshot" need to stay there.

The only thing then I can think of atm is to add --job-mode=ignore-
dependencies --no-ask-password and possibly extra stuff in frienly-
recovery.service to make the necessary network services to start in
recovery mode when requesting 'Enable Network'.

2018-04-27 Thread Adrian King
Previous upgrades 16.04,16.10,17.04,17.10. Current 17.10 to 18.04

To get past the upgrade error , (Not sure if this is correct) but this
is what I did

sudo apt-get remove libp11-kit-gnome-keyring

I had previously additionally installed MATE desktop, so to avoid any conflicts
I removed it too.
sudo apt-get remove mate-desktop

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade
update-manager -d
The last part said said it was all up to date.

I don't know how to force the 18.04 upgrade to run again.
