[Bug 1774597] Re: G-C-C privacy option don't allow sending manual report

2018-06-21 Thread Didier Roche
It's an option which was already present (only the "never" one wasn't):
whoopsie upload crash reports automatically.

See the g-c-c panel from that version to see the option dialog box.

Cause seems to be a name collision for the GsPermissionComboBox
"changed" signal - solution was to rename it to "value-changed". This
only occurs when a snap has a plug that can connect to more than one
slot.

[Bug 1772271] Re: stuttering mouse movement after any shell window opens

2018-06-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes I would expect Xorg to be slightly better right now. For reasons
unknown as yet, moving the mouse in a Wayland session forces the GPU to
redraw everything which will slow it down and stutter more. But in Xorg
sessions the mouse pointer can move freely without the GPU having to
redraw anything.

I'm surprised you see a difference with lowlatency kernels, but if it
works for you then great.

So this is a general performance bug. Even though the system is over 10
years old I think it should be performing better, but know that gnome-
shell is not yet fast enough for most machines, even new ones.

I will continue working though the lists of performance problems here:
  https://trello.com/c/Q6JYXPPs
  https://trello.com/c/pe5mRmx7
and hopefully in future we will have good enough performance to close this bug.

[Bug 1778076] Re: [Ubuntu Server 18.04] Gnome GUI crash observed when ubuntu-desktop is installed

2018-06-21 Thread Sujith Pandel
@vanvugt -
I will try the step#3.

Yeah, If I look closely, by moving my mouse I can see something resembling
mouse pointer moving on screen.
So it might not be a crash.

To upload the logs, I need this bug to be Private first, since these are still
prototype/not-released machines.
I have informed Michael Reed (Canonical) about it.

2018-06-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That isn't necessarily a crash. Maybe just a graphics bug. If you move
the mouse cursor around can you see the screen changing a little?

Please:

1. Switch to a text terminal and log in: Ctrl+Alt+F4

2. Run 'apport-collect 1778076' to automatically send us more
information.

3. As a workaround try uncommenting this line (remove the #):
 #WaylandEnable=false
   in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and reboot.

[Bug 1772271] Re: stuttering mouse movement after any shell window opens

2018-06-21 Thread Peter Buerger
I ran a bunch of configs
none of them had a very big load on the processors. gnome shell 15%pk although
eyeballing it, the stable mouse conditions look a little less(?)

natural boot: both wayland and xorg have stuttering mouse.

boot adv option: non low latency: both wayland and xorg have stable
mouse, except wayland gets 'stuck' when crossing off the background onto
the favorites bar (mine is on the bottom). The mouse is stable in both
regions, but gets hung up when crossing the border. There is no hang up
when crossing desktop icons. xorg looks better than wayland under rapid
motion and careful examination.

2018-06-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think you mean "the installation disc was able to do it
automatically".

This is expected. The reason is that the installation disk uses Xorg as
the display server so that's the same as the workaround mentioned in
comment #5.

The problem after installation is that the login screen itself defaults
to using Wayland instead of X, and so you will hit the problem there
first.

[Bug 1739468] Re: Repeated [AppIndicatorSupport-WARN] Item :1.51/org/ayatana/NotificationItem/multiload is already registered

2018-06-21 Thread Jerry Quinn
This is pretty bad. I see 8-10 messages per second in /var/log/syslog.
That makes it difficult to see anything else, potentially causing a
security issue.

[Bug 1778143] [NEW] SIGSEV when turning on display while screensaver is active (gnome-screensaver-dialog crash)

2018-06-21 Thread Tobias Knöppler
Public bug reported:

Since the update to Ubuntu 18.04 (ubuntu budgie) the screensaver stopped
working.

Description of the error:

When I lock the screen, the display turns black (as intended). However, when I
press a key or move the mouse to turn the display again, no login-dialog is
shown - instead I see the lockscreen wallpaper and the mouse cursor shows
graphical glitches (becoming invisible and visible when moving it).
I can unlock again by typing `gnome-screensaver-command -d` into a tty.

I have found out, that the program 'gnome-screensaver-dialog' crashes
with a SIGSEV and causes the described failure. Purging and reinstalling
the package 'gnome-screensaver' did not help. Running 'gnome-
screensaver-dialog' with gdb generates the attached output (which is
hopefully useful for tracking down the problem).

[Bug 1778134] [NEW] Switching between files in Nautilus using keyboard pointers leads to incorrectly chosen file.

2018-06-21 Thread boryslav
Public bug reported:

## Summary

Switching between files in Nautilus using keyboard pointers leads to
incorrectly chosen file.
Unfortunately I was unable to get debug log from the terminal.

## Prerequisites
Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop version is instilled, with GNOME nautilus 3.26.3,
nautilus-sendto 3.8.6.

## Steps to reproduce

1) Open nautilus (by clicking on nautilus icon, or by typing "nautilus . &" in
a terminal
2) Open a folder with many files that have similar names
(reproduced on:
* lectures with file names {1..10}-{01..20} "name of the lecture"
* pictures, with names as follows DSC{0..1}.JPG)
3) Select a file in the end of a row and press "->" (right) keyboard pointer,
to (presumably) navigate to the next row. (I also noticed, that if the issue is
not reproduced easily, zooming in/out in the folder increases the probability
of the bug)

## Actual result
If the last file in a row is selected and right pointer button is pressed on
the keyboard (sometimes) selection jumps not to the next row, but 2-5 rows
ahead.

In the screenshot attached, it jumped from a file named "2-01
Introduction.mp3" to file named "3-08 An Implicit Agreement.mp3"

# Expected result
The selection should jump to the next row, regardless of file names, zoom or
other factors.

[Bug 1775881] Re: [radeon] Every time I boot up ubuntu, the login screen looks like a static TV screen. This does not occur with other login manages, only gdm3

2018-06-21 Thread Seija Kijin
Mr. van Vugt,

Thank you for taking the time to respond:

The only way I was able to do so was using nano in a VT. After I
uncommented the line and saved the .conf file, I rebooted the machine.

Uncommenting the line seemed to so appears to resolve the issue.
However, the problem is that the installation disc was able to do it
manually while the installed OS did not.

Why, if I may ask?

[Bug 1778088] [NEW] DjVu Files cannot be opened

2018-06-21 Thread Felix Eckhofer
Public bug reported:

When trying to open a .djvu document, evince shows an error:

File type DjVu image (image/vnd.djvu) is not supported

Apparently, upstream has removed the image/vnd.djvu mimetype in an
effort to treat single-page .djvu files more like images
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=754467). The file in
question is however a multi-page, yet the mime-type is not the expected
"image/vnd.djvu+multipage":

  $ file book.djvu
  book.djvu: DjVu multiple page document
  $ file --mime-type book.djvu
  book.djvu: image/vnd.djvu

This happens on all bionic machines I have access to.

[Bug 1778069] [NEW] nautilus don't open files if set as default file manager

2018-06-21 Thread Leonardo Müller
Public bug reported:

If Nautilus is set as the preferred file manager with exo-preferred-
applications, it no longer opens files. It opens only directories,
.desktop files and executable files. Trying to open a file, be using
Enter or with double mouse click, as a text file or a video makes
Nautilus window blink for a instant and nothing happens. To be able to
open the files, it's needed to choose to open with another application
and then choose the application.

Once Nautilus is unset as the default file manager (Thunar is chosen,
for example), it starts to work fine again, opening files properly.

Nautilus' Debian Sid version do not have this problem.

[Bug 1748147] Re: [SRU] debhelper support override from /etc/tmpfiles.d for systemd

2018-06-21 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov 🌈
Proposed fix in systemd. Run systemd-tmpfiles, during postinst, the way
it would be run on boot, such that all base files are correct, including
any overrides shipped by any other package; systemd; in transient
runtime dir.

At the same time, the dh_installinit is silenced to not produce the
systemd-tmpfiles snippet which this package does not need.

This solves the issue of integration with rsyslog; generically; without
requiring to backport debhelper, nor change rsyslog package.

[Bug 1776487] Re: Logging out does not decrease the number of logged in users

2018-06-21 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Marco, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gdm3 into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/3.28.2-0ubuntu1.3
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

When you try to copy files it now goes ahead and then skips every photo

I am gutted, this fault needs an internal review to see why it keeps
