[Bug 1779262] Re: Right click on a video file and select properties will crash the file browser.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one, please follow these steps: 1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the workaround from bug 994921. 2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport. 3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from /etc/gdm3/custom.conf: # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes #Enable=true 4. Reboot. 5. Reproduce the crash. 6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash 7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step 6. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779262 Title: Right click on a video file and select properties will crash the file browser. [Bug 1779238] [NEW] Mouting a disk or iso image asks for sudo password
Public bug reported: This issue is simple to reproduce on a fresh 18.04 install: - right click an iso image and select "Open with disk image mounter" (or double click as it is the default action) and/or: - issue the command `gnome-disk-image-mounter image.iso` The resulting is a dialog asking for the user's password and the message "Authentification is required to modify the loop device /dev/loop22" It is a show stopper for me as I use gnome-disk-image-mounter in an automated way. [Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen
This is unfortunately correct. The login screen runs as user 'gdm' which is not privileged. That means it has no access to retrieve your personal settings until after you have entered a password. So it uses the system defaults. You might be able to change the system defaults by editing this file as root: /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.gschema.xml ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779096 Title: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1779096/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

To fix 2) and 3) I have to do the same thing, take the windows out of tiling/fullscreen and go back, so somewhere the actual state of the windows was lost. [Bug 1779189] [NEW] /var/log/journal consumed all available disk space
Public bug reported: Running 18.04, systemd 237-3ubuntu10, and all of my available disk space on /var (4.3G) just got eaten up by systemd-journald. /etc/systemd/journald.conf has all the default values (everything commented out). Processes were starting to crash, and I only recovered by running "sudo journalctl --vacuum-files=1" which brought it back down to 25M. My understanding is that the defaults are supposed to prevent this from happening. [Bug 1779096] [NEW] Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen
Public bug reported: The login screen doesn't use the mouse hardware settings. In particular it doesn't seem to use the mouse speed settings. This gives an inconsistent feeling between the login screen and the desktop if you're not using the default speed in the desktop. In my case I need to make the mouse speed much slower to be usable and that means that when I'm in the login screen the mouse is very jumpy. The same thing happens for the screen size settings (defaulting to 200% instead of the 100% I've set) but that's less inconvenient although still shows lack of polish. I assume this is because these settings are per-user but for the vast majority of desktops that's a single person anyway so it's a bad default.
