1.178ubuntu2.6 failed to build. My original patch:

[Bug 1747566] Re: syslog fills with messages: Object ..., has been already finalized. Impossible to get any property from it. ... (stack trace in tweener.js)

2018-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think that's a different bug. This one was originally intended to be
about tweener.js:73 and tweener.js:80.

Aside from anything else, this bug is closed already. So if you have any
continuing problems in Ubuntu 18.04 then please open a new bug. But
before opening a new bug always check that the problem occurs after
removing all the gnome-shell extensions, in case an extension is the
cause.

[Bug 1728342] Re: Some applications disable "Night Light" and it is not reenabled upon exiting application

2018-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Or D55/D50 rather, in Settings > Devices > Colour

The built-in colour profiles aren't accurate in an absolute way but they
do let you change things in a relative sense. It seems like the system
assumes the default colour temperature is around 6500K, so choosing D65
doesn't change anything (even though your monitor may be well above
8000K in reality). But choosing D50 or D55 will lower the colour
temperature to something warmer (redder) like night light does.

[Bug 1508146] Re: Alt+left/right arrows switch between tty consoles (Gnome Shell vanishes), cannot disable

2018-08-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks Kieran. I think either synergy or uinput could qualify as "some
program left your keyboard in the wrong state" as mentioned in the
kbd_mode docs. So those use cases are less surprising.

What I would like to know is what part of the normal desktop experience
(gdm3/mutter/Xorg/gnome-shell/other) is creating similar issues and
leaving the keyboard in the wrong state. It might also be something from
pre-login.

[Bug 1762952] Re: Alternative shortcut for layout switching Alt+Shift unexpectedly set by default

2018-08-08 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Markus, or anyone else affected,

Accepted console-setup into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/console-
setup/1.178ubuntu2.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Possibly unrelated, but, Since seeing the warning and upgrading packages I have

I'm having the same issue still using a new Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with all of
the latest package/kernel updates. This is also causing VERY large
syslog files (5-10G each). The errors I'm receiving are related to
tweener.js so I'm updating this bug report instead of opening a new one:

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak runtime extensions are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu

2018-08-08 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@osomon, sure :-)

This was the original PR against master https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME
/gnome-software/merge_requests/48 but i believe that has been superseded
by https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/merge_requests/58 for
the stable series 3.28. (jrocha from Endless was working on the code, he
hangs around in #gnome-software on GIMPnet/GNOME IRC - i'm sure he'd be
happy to answer any questions/help).

As as noted in the earlier comments, this is the bug that is tracking it
upstream https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/issues/235

[Bug 1786063] [NEW] gedit should switch tabs with Ctrl-PgUp and Ctrl-PgDown to be consistent with other apps

2018-08-08 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

Gedit uses Ctrl-Alt-PgUp/PgDown for tab switching when others just use
Ctrl-PgUp/PgDown. That's what gedit should use to be consistent with for
example gnome-terminal and firefox. It also makes sense that Ctrl-Alt is
reserved for more global actions like workspace switching

I looked at your trace in comment #12 and maybe I found out something..

looks like libgpod tries to mount google drive as an iPod device?

someone that knows how to fix?

[Bug 1573728] Re: Files opened with gedit on command line no longer open within the existing gedit session

2018-08-08 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Since upstream doesn't seem to want to commit the fix could the ubuntu
package add this as a patch? I've rebuilt the package with the patch
from the upstream bug (attached) and it seems to work fine as verified
by other users in the upstream bug.

I couldn't get dpkg-source to actually apply it automatically with the
following error:

dpkg-source: warning: unexpected end of diff
'gedit-3.28.1/debian/patches/09_position_fix.patch'

So I patched it manually. But I'm sure that's just a simple issue
someone with actual knowledge of dpkg packaging will fix easily.

Great, thanks Andrew for the detailed heads-up!
That sounds like a good SRU candidate if it lands in a 3.28 point release
indeed. Can you point me to the upstream branch that has those changes?

[Bug 1785789] Re: Update to 3.29.90

2018-08-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gdm3 - 3.29.90-1ubuntu1

---
gdm3 (3.29.90-1ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian (LP: #1785789). Remaining changes:
+ README.Debian: update for correct paths in Ubuntu
+ control.in:
  - Don't recommend desktop-base
  - Depend on bash for ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch
  - Update Vcs field
+ rules:
  - Don't override default user/group
  - --enable-gdm-xsession to install upstream Xsession script
  - override dh_installinit with --no-start to avoid session being killed
+ rules, README.Debian, gdm3.8.pod:
Use upstream custom.conf instead of daemon.conf
+ gdm3.{postinst,postrm}: rename user and group back to gdm
+ gdm3.postinst, gdm3.prerm: don't kill gdm on upgrade
+ gdm3.*.pam: Make pam_env read ~/.pam_environment
+ gdm3.install:
  - Stop installing default.desktop. It adds unnecessary clutter
("System Default") to the session chooser.
  - Don't install debian/Xsession
+ Add ubuntu_run_xsession.d.patch
+ Add ubuntu_xresources_is_a_dir.patch
  - Fix loading from /etc/X11/Xresources/*
+ Add ubuntu_nvidia_prime.patch:
  - Add hook to run prime-offload (as root) and prime-switch if
nvidia-prime is installed
+ Add revert_override_LANG_with_accountservices.patch:
  - On Ubuntu accountservices only stores the language and not the
full locale as needed by LANG.
+ Add ubuntu_dont_set_language_env.patch:
  - Don't run the set_up_session_language() function, since it
overrides variable values set by ~/.pam_environment
+ Add ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch:
  - Show warning dialog in case of error in ~/.profile etc. and
don't let a syntax error make the login fail
+ Add debian/default.pa
  - Disable Bluetooth audio devices in PulseAudio from gdm3.
+ debian/gdm3.install
  - Added details of the default.pa file
+ debian/gdm3.postinst
  - Added installation of default.pa and creation of dir if it doesn't
exist.
+ debian/greeter.dconf-defaults: Don't set Debian settings in the
  greeter's dconf DB
  * debian/patches/unblock-sigusr1.patch: Drop, included in 3.29.90.
  * debian/patches/ubuntu_*: Refresh.
  * Merge some unreleased changes from Debian's git:
+ debian/gbp.conf: Don't use patch numbers
+ d/p/local-display-factory-add-more-debug-messages-to-new-vt-h.patch,
  d/p/local-display-factory-don-t-start-two-greeters-at-startup.patch,
  d/p/session-worker-don-t-switch-VTs-if-we-re-already-on-the-r.patch:
Cherry-pick some patches from upstream MR 28. These fix a race condition
on startup where GDM would try to start two greeters, and often fail to
  start any.

gdm3 (3.29.90-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * Team upload
  * New upstream development release
- Unblock SIGUSR1 before PAM (Closes: #905277, LP: #1782152)
  * Rebase patch series
- Drop patches from 3.28.2-2 and 3.28.2-3, applied upstream
  * Bump GLib build-dependency to 2.44 as per configure.ac
  * Build-depend on gettext 0.19.8 as per configure.ac
  * Continue to build-depend on intltool even though upstream code no
longer needs it, because the Debian build still does
  * Drop obsolete build-dependencies on Xft and Xi
  * Stop disabling split authentication, which is no longer supported
at all
  * Stop deleting data/gdm.schemas.in during clean. It used to be generated
from data/gdm.schemas.in.in but is now a source file in its own right.
  * Remove generated file data/61-gdm.rules during clean
  * d/copyright: Update
  * d/patches/*: Add DEP-3 metadata in gbp-pq format
  * d/docs: Install README.md instead of README

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak runtime extensions are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu

2018-08-08 Thread Andrew Hayzen
@osomon, hey o/ :-)

GNOME Web looks like it has been archived on Flathub
https://github.com/flathub/org.gnome.Epiphany and removed from the store
for now. I believe this was due to security issues, which will hopefully
be solved with the new freedesktop runtime.

Eolie, looks like there are other people stating that the languages
aren't working, so might just be that the translations aren't available
for the app. (probably discuss with upstream)

Yes runtime extensions are not installed automatically with gnome software
3.28. Eg themes, extra drivers, codecs etc. This works with the CLI as it had
extra logic to deal with automatically installing such extensions. Now with
newer versions of libflatpak this logic is included as a "FlatpakTransaction
API", GNOME Software 3.30 has a new flatpak plugin and will make use of this -
resolving the issue for cosmic onwards.

However, there was also code submitted upstream which added this logic
to the old GNOME Software flatpak plugin to install these extensions
automatically - resolving the issue for 3.28 users. If this is approved
and lands into a 3.28 point release, I'd be happy to help go through the
SRU process to include such a change :-) (ping me on IRC if you want to
discuss anything).

2018-08-08 Thread Kieran Bingham
At the peril of adding another Me Too comment, this happened to me on
18.04.1

sudo kbd_mode -s

has fixed it for me.

There are two relevant things that I have been running on my system before this
happened.
 1) I have synergy installed, to share my keyboard and mouse to another
computer (installed recently)
 2) I was playing with /dev/uinput [0]

2018-08-08 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Curiously I cannot find "GNOME Web" when searching flathub from my cosmic VM.
However I installed org.gnome.Eolie from GNOME Software and observed that it is
started with Adwaita and an English locale, whereas the system theme is
Ambiance and locale is French.
When installing from the CLI ("flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Eolie"), the
theme is Ambiance as expected. The language remains English, maybe a separate
issue?

[Bug 1754864] Re: Flatpak runtime extensions are not installed when using GNOME Software on Ubuntu

2018-08-08 Thread AsciiWolf
** Description changed:

When installing a Flatpak application that depends on some runtimes and
- they depend on some additional runtime extensions using GNOME Software
- on Ubuntu 18.04, the runtime extensions are not installed. They are
- installed if you run "flatpak update" from Terminal after the
- installation. This issue should be already fixed in GNOME Software
- upstream so I believe that this is a downstream Ubuntu issue. Please,
- fix this.
+ they depend on some additional runtime extensions (related refs) using
+ GNOME Software on Ubuntu 18.04, the runtime extensions are not
+ installed. They are installed if you run "flatpak update" from Terminal
+ after the installation. This issue should be already fixed in GNOME
+ Software upstream so I believe that this is a downstream Ubuntu issue.
+ Please, fix this.

  Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Use the latest, fully updated Ubuntu 18.04 image.
  2. Install "flatpak" and "gnome-software-plugin-flatpak" packages.
  3. Restart the system.
  4. Download and add the Flathub repo file:
https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
  5. Search and install the "GNOME Web" Flatpak package using GNOME Software.
  6. Run the installed "Web" application.

  Actual results:
GNOME Web is started with the default (Adwaita) theme (and without the
correct locale if you use non-English system).

  Expected results:
GNOME Web is started with the correct (Ubuntu) theme (and with the correct
locale if you use non-English system).

[Bug 1174162] Re: chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu

2018-08-08 Thread christopherreay
I am having this problem. It started... yesterday? I just created a
completely new, blank browser profile, and it literally cant start due
to gnome-keyring "stuff".

its ransacking my machine.

I cant... believe this has been going on for years. I write code all
day, and the sheer level of *work* it takes to blow a processor up to
100% usage is enormous. Whatever is actually happening is clearly
*completely wrong*.

Is there a solution? Are people who write this code just fed up with
trying to answer? Is there a thread that shows moving foward?

thank you

christopher

This bug was collected by Apport and so I don't know all the details. I
just installed Ubuntu 17.10 and I have had problems with all my programs
being closed (it looks as if the computer had been rebooted) after the
screen had been locked. I then changed from Wayland to Xorg, just before
this bug was reported, but I am uncertain if the bug report pertains to
this problem, or if the bug was for the Wayland or Xorg state. I'm happy
to provide more information, I just need to know what to look for.
